The cambelt on my99 should be changed at 3 years or 45k miles which ever is the sooner - this service costs 450 GBP approx.
The 30k miles service is the fluids and costs about 400 GBP.
Hence you can have a car with 30-40k miles comming to the 45k service - infact just like mine (38k).
Either way 11.5k is a good price and probably still less than what you would pay in a dealer once they mark it up from the trade you would get trading it in.

i guess that most peeps on this board already own 1 scooby so it might be worth popping ads in auto-trader or top marques (i found my scoob in the local Trade-It paper - and i hadn't even heard of scoobynet b4 i got it) etc...

Will do. 1:30am and I can't sleep, just want to drive! Watching the fuel gauge in the last 1/2 was worrying though!! I'll keep you up to date with what I'm up to with the car.

Soz breeze, don't worry I'll look after it. I'd budgeted to spend £13.5k so you'll appreciate I have some money left over to spend on it. Plan to upgrade the stereo and get it colour coded and thereafter we'll just see. Having watched the fuel gauge in the last 12 hours I'll probably want to hold on to some of that excess cash Hope you find a good car mate, looking around the 'for sale' section it appears to be a buyers market so if you can, wait until another competitively priced one comes along

Cheers Saxo.
Going to rename yourself Scooby Boy now? ;-)
If you lived anywhere near here I'd have to make sure I turned up to a meet (if you attend them) and see it - I'd still like to see what I missed out on. If you get bored of it in a few months (humph - likely chance... not.) I'll make an offer... (oh well, it was worth trying)
One of the first things I would have done was stick a nice MD player in there, then sort out some gold alloys for it, then possibly steel braided brake lines. But that's about it. It's already got a nice exhaust.
Anyway, enjoy.

Good. No CD player doesn't bother me in the slightest - I much prefer minidiscs for the car (incredibly hard to make them skip): with my short term fix (using my portable MD player) you can't stick the tape adapter things into a CD slot ;-)
OK so car CD players have improved skip protection over time but still can be an issue (? correct me if I'm wrong). Plus easier to edit/record onto MDs 1 track at a time. The other option, only available more recently, is MP3-on-CD support. Wasn't around (or at reasonable prices) when I got my MD player.
Thanks for the service cost estimates Auto Scooby/Saxo Boy.
