I read most of this thread before realising it was from 2002 Interesting reading people's comments from way back then; this should perhaps be required reading for those still hoping for/predicting a crash

I wish SN Big Brother could install a "THIS IS AN OLD THREAD WARNING" so I wouldn't waste my time!!
I thought something was odd when I saw people were actually agreeing with PSL in the early posts!! dl

how on earth did this get resurected?
Although I also find it amazing that it has been put up to negative on the ratings when people have been agreeing with the post... SN still amazes me.

Pete.
According to findings the average price of a property is now £183,896. Taken from this website today - http://www.aboutproperty.co.uk/news/house-prices/land-registry/lr-average-house-prices-increase-04-per-cent-$480580.htm.
If this average price has gone down by the Autumn let's resurect this thread & I'll eat my hat if you'll eat yours if it goes up
No chance of it going down anytime soon, IMHO of course.
TX.

This can have ONLY ONE result, Buyer z HAS to drop his price AND demand a resultant drop up the chain, so, you heard it here first - the writing is on the wall Autumn will see a price correction downwards. (If this co-incides with a hike in rates then its going to be a juicy fall!)
All IMHO of course!! But I do my homework thoroughly

If you don't "own" today you won't have a chance in 19yrs time:
"It said the current level of building would lead to housing affordability deteriorating further, with the cost of the average home reaching 10 times earnings by 2026, compared to seven times earnings now"
TX.

When you have lenders offering out 5 times main income, first time buyers are going to have £200k for a house. But they won't ever be able to afford a night out and that's with interest rates at these levels. If the Euro continues to rise in strength, interest will have to go up to prop up sterling. If they don't go up, the cost of imported goods will push inflation beyond the BoE's target and this certainly prompt a rise.
