Kinda been in this situation before but not on a driveway but a allocated parking bay. Dumped car with flat tyres and out of date tax. Police not at all interested in helping as it was on my property and therefore my responsibility but did add that they may take action against me if I touched it and that was reported to them. This apparently stands as it is not my property to touch and if I were seen by the owner, for instance, he/she could claim that I had caused any of the dents or scratches etc on the car. Basically the police washed their hands even though they could contact the owner and implied that it was a local person. Biggest pile of **** I've ever come across.

I'd advise doing what I ended up doing and moving it at night with a few witnesses to check that you don't do any further damage. That way at least you should be covered.

Oh, and if you ring some salvage yards nowdays they normally want paying to remove cars. They may also insist on you signing a document giving them right to remove the vehicle as you wouldn't be the legal owner and they need to cover themselves. A local one to me wanted £150 just to come and remove it.

Good luck.

Blues.

Smash the window put it in neutral and push it in to the road. Can't believe you hadn't done that already?????

Is it legal? They are trespassing on your property. You wouldn't go and park in someone elses drive let alone abandon a car there.

In fact my mate is looking for some parts, let me know and he'll come and pick it up

Tow it down to your Police station.
If the old bill start getting arsey about it, go to the press.
They would love a story like this.
Cheers.

Push the thing into the road & don't worry about the police - what they going to do? They've got enough on their plate without this lot & I guess it would be a civil matter anyway, that they would not be interested in.

Depending on your mind-set, either just park it up by the side of the road, or leave it in an obstructive position & call the plod. They're probably surprised you haven't moved it anyway!

[Story]

Used to park bikes o/side the office in a designated bike bay. One day two of us turned up to see that some prat had parked their car so that no bikes could get in.

Passing traffic warden said that they could ticket it & thats all. Left us with nowhere to park. Traffic warden wandered up the road out of sight...

We moved the car into the middle of the road (bumped it).

We "found" the traffic warden & informed them that a car was causing an obstruction in the street They called into base & it was towed away inside 30 mins

It's gonna go tonight. My house is on the edge of the A59 just off the M6 so it's gonna have to block one lane. Sorry to any of you who use this road.

Remember not to breath in the black smoke from the burning seats and tyres if you go out later tonight

bit late to post this haven't read all the replies but if it was in my drive way I would have rolled it out straigh away even if it had the so called "sorry Car broken down" notice in it!!

Sorry if that is harsh but what happens if your Impreza get broken into on the road your insurance company aint gonna be to happy about that and either are you!! Just my view, but then when it come to my driveway I am a total B**sard I scared the cr*p outta one woman that use it to turn around in......she has ever done it again though!!
