ANYONE GOT THE SUBARU PARTS DATABASE CD???
#32
Same here - got all the files but what do you use?
I can get a menu running but when I try to search for parts I get a 'format' screen?
If I can get it working I will happily burn some more CDs for anyone sending me a SAE.

I have no instructions, If the screen pauses like that, try the other disc, or go into the setup menu, and change the US/LH/RH bit. I included photos of the 2 discs, so you know what marking refer to disc 1 and 2
Disc 1 ( SHEET 1 ) LH,RH
Disc 2 ( SHEET 2 ) US
Not sure if this is refering to the US, and left hand drive, or right hand drive, or what???
I just installed disc 1 first, by openng anything that said setup ( be it setup or setup1 )
Then did the same with disc 2
The relevant disc MUST be in the drive whilst using the program.
As I also said, it will not work on my computer with XP Pro, NTFS file system. It WILL work on my other computer with Millenium.
If anyone else can help with instructions, enlighten us all.

I have to ask anyone downloading form the ftp site to stop. I have been informed that this may cost the operator of the server money, and I did not have permission to use it. I have removed any links from scoobynet. I do not want any trouble either for myself, or snet. Hopefully a few of you will already have it now, to share with others, be it on kazaa or morpheus or similar. I do have it on grokster for those wanting to download ( none so far though ?? )
Filename "Subaru Parts" Zipped format
Thanks, Stevie

Explanation of the missing URL's....
ustolemyname??stevieturbo inadvertently used someone's else FTP site with out there knowledge. The problem with this is that the site owner will pay for bandwidth, and if we are doing large downloads from his site he will end up with a large bill. Also ,not being a lawyer, do not understand the copyright right issues with this material.
I'm going to close this thread now. If you have any questions or concerns then please mail me.
Sorry for seeming a spoil sport but we need to look after scoobynets reputation.
Thanks
Alec

Yea, the stalling thing happens to me. Im not sure what the 2 discs are for. I think that if you want to use the first disc, labelled SHEET 1 LH,RH, go thru the setup menu, and change the bit at the top to RH or wotever. Then the disc may work. Also when typing in part nos, use the translation bit to actually get the part number, from the part code. It also best to type chassis nos in, as it will give you less options to have to select from.
It certainly does help when purchasing parts, as most parts sales people, dont really have the mechanical/parts knowledge required for the job.
The nos you see on the screen above, are only the part code, not the part number you would order with. The plastic bung you knocked in.. make sure you get the right one, coz different years can be differnt sizes, depending on the head.
Again, on the main screen, type in your part code, and hit translation, if all the info regarding make and model have been entered, it should show up the actual part number for ordering. There is also a price tool on the discs, but dont know how to get it to work.

I can't remember properly cos it was over a year ago, but to get it to work, I think you have to click on start, run, type in Msconfig.exe, click OK, then click on config sys, then remove the word Noems. Let me know if it helps.
Cheers,
Wrexy.
