OK here we go
Times for bikes and cars around Knockhill.
M/C Regal 600 53.07 Sandy Christie Yamaha FRZ 07/09/97
M/C Regal Production 55.92 Mark Wright Suzuki GSXR 27/06/99
M/C Regal Production Open 56.49 Torquil Paterson Kawasaki 27/06/99
M/C GT125 68.74 Lawrie Shepherd Honda RS 27/06/99
M/C Supersport 250 58.89 Stuart Jones Suzuki RGV 30/07/00
M/C Supersport 600 51.57 Martin Jowett Yamaha R6 30/07/00
TVR Tuscan 52.55 Mike Jordan TVR Tuscan 25/07/99
Anglo Scottish Star Cup 60.22 Kevin Adam Ford Sierra Cosworth 30/05/99
BTCC Independants 53.61 Matt Neal Nissan Primera 14/05/00
Fastest Demo Lap 47.16 Ron Cumming Footwork Judd 3000cc 25/07/99
So basically the only car that could beat the bikes was an old F1 beast and a TVR tuscan racer. Even A BTCC car , properly setup for the track couldn't touch some of them.

if it rained i'd stay at home.
you think im gonna deliver pizzas in 5hitty weather, you mad?
actually john could drop the pizzas off for me, unless the rain gets in his roof and gets them all wet (does he even have a roof?)
tiggs
would put some smiles in but cant work out how to (not to bothered either before anyone tells me how!)

Had some *fast* cars, and some fast bikes. Currently got a GSXR750Y and a MY01. To try and compare the two is difficult, as they both do very diffrent things IMO.
The bike is exceptional as a bike in its own right, a recent track day at Catalunya proved the only thing faster down the straight was the GIXER'Thou. I even managed to out drag an R1 (just) which was a bit of a suprise. It goes around corners and brakes far faster than I can manage, which is great.
The car is, well, er, slow in comparison. Took one of my *biker* mates in it last night as it happens, and I commented on how disapointed I was with the car. His reply was, "your problem is that you've got a Gixer sat in the garage at home". No car is going to ever match that.
If someone came up behind me on an unfamilier road in a scooby with me on the bike, I'd be worried... the car at this point, would be faster, and I can personally drive a car faster on an unknown road, than ride my bike.
Put both on a race track and the bike would win hands down, to the point of lapping the car.
Put a ZX12R/Blackbird/Hyabusa on a tight track like Cadwell park, against a well sorted car however, and things might be a bit more difficult for the bike.

It seems to me that everybody who both has a Scoob and a bike is absolutely certain that they are faster A to B (generally regardless of type of roads) on their Bike. Only the people who only drive a car only seem to disagree that bikes are not faster....
I am possibly slightly in the minority due to the fact that I ride a bike first and foremost, am most comfortable on a bike, can (nearly) ride my bike to it's limits (within the boundaries of safety) and drive a Scooby 2nd (When I bought the Scoob I told people I just wanted a car that "Didn't bore me to drive" but admittedly, it has turned out to be a bit more than that ).
I think that most people have the talent to be able to drive their Scoob fairly near to it's limits (say 80% of the Scoob's limits?) whereas most bikers (if I'm honest) are nowhere near being able to ride near the limits of the machine's ability (I think this figure is somewhere near 30-40% of the Bike's ability). So when you are out in your Scoob, keeping up with a Bike, there is a very good chance that the Biker is not particularly capable and if the Bike was ridden properly, would blow you away
In summary, I think that Bikes are generally faster than cars but the likelihood of the rider being able to ride the bike fast enough to prove this is slim. You need far less talent to drive a car on the limit than you do a bike which is why a lot of "car drivers" think that cars are faster....
Just my opinion...
Ta,
Matt
