Cool

Most of it has been said already..

Top day, great to meet loads of oldies as well as the newbies.
Lots of tasty machinery too.

Was disappointed at first when I heard it was the GP circuit, but decided it's quite good really for a bit of arsing around, I even managed to find a new line.....backwards

Pity a few more people can't manage to use their mirrors though....

Thanks for a great day out and for tolerating my little 1.4 16v ( ) Skoda out on track! Nice to meet you all. Agree Doc, use of mirrors by some people was a tad lax, but it was still a good day out.

Top day out so well done to all concerned and the drivers for keeping me entertained

Only downer for me was returning home looking like a Swan Vesta match as I stupidly grabbed my coat in the morning instead of hat and/or suncream. Being one that fries in the sun, I was well and truly toasted Still only got a few blisters to show for it and a permanent facial central heating system at the moment

Nice to see everyone again and good to see the event grow with the support and input from the different manufacturers/suppliers

I have to laugh at childish David Brown.

Tell you what son, use a bit of that money you seem to have on some driving lessons.

I had the opportunity to follow you twice, once when you and Mellow were having fun, you couldn't shake him off so let him past, then tried to follow but was no match in your half of a scoob weighted, greater power to weight ratio motor car.. ha....ha...

Then, we were all watching from the pit wall and Mellow was patiently behind you and a blue skyline having caught you both up, yet onto the straight instead of moving over to let the better man through you both gunned it only to then go at a snails pace into the corner, poor Mellow !

As for the rest of the day it was fantastic.... where was Stef's car, we'd all come to see him do his usual entertaining stuff

Didn't recognise most of the cars on track apart from Doc & Mellow !

Hope some of you are going to come to our Rally Car superday at the end of July at Castle Coombe (pleeeeeeeeease Mellow

Like John said, I didn't want to bring this thread down in anyway.
But John you said you weren't party to any mishap, yet one happened right in front of your eyes when Mellow overtook you, missed the braking point and went over the gravel littering it all over the track and onto the front of my car as you kicked it all back up. As I understand it, this happened a good few times in the day. At least you had the intelligence to pull over and let David Coulthard overtake.

Theo, your question is most irrelevant, I'm sorry to say. If you have a problem with non-Subaru cars on track, then I suggest you start a new topic.

ROUGHNECKS,
I take it from your use of an Alter Ego that you were also on track yesterday, and judging by your close encounter witness of a supposed shakedown I presume you were in a car. You have absolutely no idea about David's driving so I suggest you hold your comments to yourself. Please come up with factual statements and refrain from the playground insults that seem to plague this once great forum.

There were instances of terrible driving, so bad that Ian Sutton actually just left halfway through the day, he was so agitated.

You need to watch closer. I let him past because he'd caught up with me (following bouts of traffic). You failed to see that despite getting him getting more and more ragged, he couldn't shake ME off.

You fail to mention in your car comparison that Mellow was running slicks, while I was on road tyres.

Post number 2 from you. Quite the respected regular

I don't have a problem with people being faster than me. Good luck to em I say. I have a problem with dangerous driving.

ha, ha,

Blowdog, playground antics ? yet it is you and David Brown who are happy to post comments on this bbs openly thus creating tension within.

Did any of you go up to Mellow to discuss your issues ?

Have you mailed him direct to discuss first ?

I can only comment in defence that on the MLR track days he's been at with us he's probably one of the most competent Subaru drivers we've come across, so for us it just smacks of mine's bigger than your's syndrome !

David, you have a reputation of being a kno8head, please continue

Actually yes, I did. It's ironic that someone hiding behind anonymity can talk about reputations.

Lets all take a chill pill here.

If the driving was that bad (and I must admit I did not see this) what can we do to improve it.

I seem to remember last October every one was saying how well every one drove. What could have changed since then?

I sometimes feel that the more experienced drivers should be aware that novices are on track and they should not always be sure they have been seen.

Maybe this is some of the problem, last year novices were obvious as they had huge orange stickers on the back of the car.

OK.... in conclusion and to put this to bed once and for all can I say the following !

I was under the impression David that you and I were having an enjoyable "tussle", it was great to follow you watching how well you were driving the Exige, then you gratiously pulled over to allow me to pass to then proceed to do the same exercise with me !

Yes I'm guilty of leaving the braking later and later, yes, I'm guilty of cutting across the Foggarty Esses and spraying your car with dust and stones and yes I was becoming more and more ragged in my driving as I continued to find it's limitations and for all that I appologise, however, what I find difficult to understand is that you came into the garage smiling, we shook hands and commented to each other on "that was brilliant, and sorry for spraying your car " ???

So why slag me off on here ?

You had the facility to discuss this yesterday ? As did you Blowdog ?

You both also have the facility of e-mailing me direct ?

All that has been created now is unessessary animosity between us as I have little if no respect for anyone who isn't man enough to discuss any issues they have with the person direct ? Or is that a straight talking honest Northern thing

For goodness sake chaps all three of us have been around long enough in this community, surely we should have some common ground between us ?

It seems to me that your damned if you do....and your'e damned if you don't, what a shame

What could have changed since then?

... the drivers' briefing for the short/afternoon session spent about 2 seconds on driving etiquette and didn't mention the use of the black flag for discourteous driving?

Well, I thouroughly enjoyed the day, even if I did spend some of my track time trying to get out of the way of others - my poor old standard MY00 is no match for all those modded beasties. Will have to shake the moths out of my wallet and get spending
Only my second track day, but did learn a few things (Thanks to Simon Burton for the advice on the track).
Hanslow - I know how you feel. I'm in the same condition - glowing (and not with health) - I feel like a 1-man radiation hazard this morning. I'll never believe the weather report again.

Fantastic day, a credit to the organisers.

Good to see Bob T and David Wallis, As a newbie to scoobynet, SIDC and track days I felt most welcome and although nervous as hell really enjoyed it.

The 20 min session really worked well, I though it would be too short but standard scooby brakes ain't up to much and 20 mins seemed to be more than enough for a blast round the track.

2 Laps follow my leader to see what Donny is like

1 Lap behind a scooby that was booting on the straights and very cautious round corners

1 Lap after getting past this scooby but then with an empty track in front I was a little too rapid for comfort coming into a bend , didn't go off but slowed down a lot after that ! )

1 Lap probably about right, nice run round, let a few through, took it nice and smooth

1 Lap cool down

Really recommend it to any other would-be-trackers that have never tried it..

Well I had a 'kin great day.

Thanks to Stef & SIDC crew for a well organised meet. The online booking & e-mailed track info was spot on.

Met up with POC, Lee, JIMI, & Gossy in Hemel Hempstead for a quiet convoy up the M1 & picked up a couple of other cars on the way.

I was booked in for the second afternoon 20 min slot but managed to bag a morning px with Ian in his rather nice skyline . It gave me a good idea of what Dono was about, with this being my first "on track" day. Thanks Ian.

Had fitted a set of tyres pre-booked booked with Tyres Northampton. Got SLICKS amazing grip on track, just ment my brakes cooked a bit quicker . Thanks Mark.

I'm sure the 20 min session only lasted 5 mins WOA FUN but I'm not going to spend any more dosh on the car ......... no i'm not ...... no I don't want new brakes ........... no I don't want Leda suspension .......... nooooooooooooo!

Also had a great run out with Gossy Ta Mate.

No probs with other drivers. Got to see JF going sideways at Melbourne & DJ going backwards at the same point

All in all a great day.

Ian

What a shame I missed what sounded like a great day except for the odd niggle

I would just like to thank David for his hospitality and track time in his (pre-supercharged) exige a couple of years ago. Made my first time on track an enjoyable one.
Next time you want to take more than one car to the track, drop me a line and I'll help you out

I really dont like the sound of this at all.

Can we please stop it now?

this was supposed to be a fun day and it was.

some driving problems existed, some have complained, others have put their hands up and acknowledged.

I dotn understand how others are jumping in and criticising when they were or were not there.

I didnt see mellow driving badly, so I wont comment about that.

I did see lots of cars jump out on track when the 355 went on, and to be honest that made me laugh as I know david just wanted to semi-cruise in the ferrari for a laugh when clearly the exige was quicker.

I had the pleasure of going out with david in the exige, and can honestly say that I have never been so impressed with a casual track drivers ability.

I dont know how much the car had to do with it, but davids trying serioulsy impressed me and despite reeling in every car in front of us, I felt utterly safe.

David was courteous to the extreme thanking absolutely every car that oulled out of his way, but it was clearly evident in one case that there was a point to be proven.

that car being the black evo 7. It was more than evident that david was faster yet teh guy refused to be over taken on track, and ended up cutting across our lines on three occasions I can think of.

He only yielded in the end because he was on the wrong side of the track when another car decided to pull over and he ended up stuck behind him.

This guy was clearly racing, yet davids aim was putrely to enjoy the track and have a clear road in front of him in order to dricve at what I presume was 10/10ths. I hope at least.

Attitude got in the way of this.

I wasnt driving and thouroughly enjoyed this but can see why others have been irritated.

I am annoyed that people have started insulting others just ebcause they have a ferrari etc. when if you spoke to david you would clearly see that he is an utterly likable chap and completely down to earth. He just likes to indulge in the toys that many of us can only dream about. I am glad of this Because I got to drive up to donington in a 355.

Yes I am jealous, but of all the ferrari owners I know, david is the least likely to rub it in my face.

on another note.

iain litchfield, thanks for the ride in the honda! amazing.

To those who didnt see it or here it, your loss. It was incredible, and a lot of fun. if only I had a spare £12k (plus vat sorry ).

also have to thank blowdog for taking me out on track too.

was nice to meet jase cooper and david wallis.

and to finally put a face to the old school names such john felstead, after only 3 years conversing!

>> pulled in to let him by but he just didnt have the power??!!! >> so i kept going and only saw him on the bends i

BTW Salsa King - that's why you are meant to lift off when someone has caught you. If someone catches you they are quicker around the total circuit, so you should indicate, pull over and LIFT OFF.

Mine's not the most powerful scoob, but I was running slicks and often caught people who then proceeded to floor it on the straights, and funnily enough I kept pace but couldn't get past.

Thanks to Rosco for numerous laps in his white Evo, I was disapointed in ya Mellow, expected you to keep up m8 !!! but hey that Evo is one well sorted car that had no trouble passing most cars including the black porsche on the straight both on full chat which made my day.
Anyway a top day, good to see the Ring crowd again.

Mellow,

You do have one valid point, perhaps it would have been wise to come and speak to you there and then, but judging by your manic hand gestures to me as you overtook me on the 1st bend past the start/finish straight, I felt it would be best to avoid you.

I'm perfectly happy to speak with you and find out what I've done wrong and apologise for it, just like you have. Which I find bold.

I don't want to create any negative tension as it seems everyone had a great time yesterday (me included!) so hopefully we can all learn from this and move on.

Cheers,

Cem

Another of the 'working' crew here. I'd have loved to have come and spent time with all you lot but had to work instead - still at least with the yukky weather we had down here yesterday things were pretty quiet in the afternoon so I got to see the whole of the Grand Prix without being disturbed by a single customer
