steve, tut tut! actually, its my live in girlfriend who owns the my95
the thought of a good lookin bird driving a 330 ci is a good un though, must try that one sometime when i have ..ahem...a spare two minutes
after all, all beemer drivers are to55ers eh? ha ha.
actually, all the scooby drivers ive seen lately are middle aged men, say well into their forties. now, what was that i heard once about mid life crisis and so on...
and finally, i AM a crap driver, thats why i bought a scooby in the first place, it makes ANYONE look half competent

yeah, still got it too salsa king
i'm normally fed up with cars after a week or so, but not with this one ,its a fantastic car. all it needs is a little old shape wrx ( say my93 or 94) parked alongside it and its gonna be motoring heaven

I bought my wife an ex demo 530d last october.
Good points have been all those mentioned above, a nice bonus was the fact that the service lights didnt come on till i'd covered 13000k which amazed me for a diesel.
The service costs £130.
The only downside i've had so far was BMW in Crawleys decision to charge us £30 for use of a courtesy car which seemed a bit nasty.
As i work in London i have seriously considered selling my sti5, (too scared bout leaving it) and test drove the new M3 and a 330ci shnizter thingy, but then everytime i drive the scoob i couldnt bear to part with it for anything slower.
Lets just think about things for a mo tho, do you buy scoobs for the interior etc.
or do you buy it for the engine and drive train. Thats where the moneys gone isnt it, be honest.

BMWs are great cars. No arguments there.
But a Scoob is fast, cheap and very easy to drive quickly in all conditions. That's why we love them.
If you prefer a BMW, then what are you doing on this BBS?
Richard.

I looked at beemers (328 and 523) before I bought the scoob. Basically the beemers are really nice cars and the scoob (even standard UK MY00) is a sports car.
The 330 narrows the gap but at a price!!!
£10k
for that a good comparison is with a P1 or a well sorted STi.
comfort/toys or performance?
Your money - You choose

I bet the guy was wondering how BMW can make the car look exactly the same - regardless of model - and charge 10k more for a "330" badge on the back. He probably thought it was a 318!!!
Thats the problem with BMW's - comman as muck and totally clinical. Driven by sales reps who have done well and moved up from the Mondeo's.
Its too easy a choice - "must be a beemer". Well i prefer a bit of individuality - so im sorry if i find your choice unapealing. Great car blah de blah, but you've now joined a club that i dont want to be in - the BMW driver brigade! Shame on you!!
Glad your enjoying it though!!!!

A Subaru is a thinking mans BMW I bought my Subaru because of the type of driving I enjoy. On the Subject of boy racers and £6000 Subarus. You might feel like climbing down off the soap box next time you get blown away by one with your girlfriend sitting beside you. But each to there own

ok,
hoppy... i still post on this bbs because i enjoy talking with predominantly like minded people, ie those who love cars, especially scoobys. last time i looked, yep still there,we have a my95 i can drive anytime i like.a scooby cheap? hmmm...mine cost 27k inc dealer mods, thats without leather retrim and prodrive brakes. servicing is every 6 months, fuel consumption is dire, and depreciation is no laughing matter at the mo . still think its cheap? if you keep a euro import standard, hardly drive it, and sell after 3-4 years, fair enough, but how many do that?
JZA...
i aint a rep, i dont get a company car etc, all my cars are bought out of my own cash.
individuality??ha!ha! ive seen more scoobs driven by old/middle aged men lately than ive had hot dinners. dunno about you, but i think it looks a little odd seeing a great car with huge spoilers driven by a bald bloke who should be having an afternoon nap or reading the sunday times with his slippers on
mr leigh...
blown away by a scooby? p1 yes, sti yes, uk standard car? u must be joking. i had my00 with ppp, and our my95 is superchipped and manic. the my95 will lose my car initially, the my00 would have struggled. anyone who thinks he's gonna whup a 330 with a determined driver, especially on a motorway, is in for a shock. it will suprise you.
will i find it embarrassing if i get raced by a modded scooby and lose? nah, not really. the 330 isnt about that.its quick and classy, the scooby quick and adorable, different kinds of car with certain similarities, thats all. i aint on a soapbox, people were curious about the car thats all. i aint the only one whose gone from a scoob to a beemer, i wont be the last.
if subaru can offer a better alternative to m3 smg, then i will buy another scooby, if they cant, i will buy an early wrx for fun, and get m3.

Just had to give back the new M3 that I`ve been borrowing for a few days and it takes the pi55 out of my P1.
For £4K more than I paid for that there is no comparison.
This one had the 19" whels on which I personally didnt like but I have also driven a car with the 18`s .
Nice to be watchin the **** on channel 5 Tuesday night in the old motor although her inside the doors didnt agree.
Roll on next April when I expect delivery.
2-3 years wait........thats overhyped bollox.
Till then I`ll have to put up with the stonechips crunching gears and so on that leave a bitter Subaru ownership experience.
Shame as my old 97 5 door was a peach and never missed a beat.
Wake up Subaru and stop ripping us off with overpriced 5hite quality cars.

So you bought a BMW because
a) they dont get driven by middle aged men
and that
b) a BMW offers the exclusivity of a brand associated with youth???
Mmmmm.... Think you might want to look again at the average BMW driver.... pops!!
Never said you were a Rep. Just that now you've joined the "Done well for themselves Rep" brigade.
Sorry if youve taken offense

back with a vengeance eh aaron
was the m3 really that good? it'd be interesting to hear your comparison, youve never minced your words
JZA, if i were a rep who never had to worry about forking out my own dough on a car( i dont understand how the company car thing works, never had one) then i too would choose a scooby over a similarly priced beemer. a lot of the 3 series do look the same, but there are subtle differences with a 330ci. as for the m3, THAT looks tasty in real life, but not had chance to have a go yet.
as for the general impression that beemer drivers are d1ckheads, most are. i even give the odd one or two grief on my way to work, its funny really, a beemer harassing a beemer, but the 318 drivers are the worst, especially the sad ones who debadge their cars, i'm merciless with them. i did it in my scooby, still do it in our my95, and when in the mood, do it in the 330. just a bit of payback on them after years of their tailgating.
dont get me wrong before someone jumps down my throat, i dont endanger anyone, just have a bit of fun now and then
