Yeah Baby!
Myself and Stealth are organising a mental holiday to Banff (Canada
) for a week or two of skiing and snowboarding!
We aim to get over there for Jan/Feb next year and would like to get a nice group of people together for a fantastic time! There will be a great deal of drinking, good food, better company and general good times to be had!
Stick your name down if you are interested, I will be gathering more information over the next couple of week and am looking to book it up towards the end of August.
First impressions price wise, I think we will be looking at £500-600 each + spending money + gear rental etc.
I dont know about you, but this is something that I am absolutly gagging to do!
Sign up guys and gals and I will get firm prices when I have an idea of numbers! This is open to all, I myself have never set foot on a snowboard.......

Cheers
Paul
PS: can we keep this bumped to the top!

I've been to Banff three times in the past 5 years, can't recommend it enough.
Don't worry if you can't ski or board, the instructors are excellent. In Europe, or at least France and Italy, they split group pupils into 3 levels (beginner, inter and advanced), and if there aren't enough to make up one level (eg less than 5), they bump you up or down a level; and going from inter to advanced is pretty terrifying in my experience. In Canada and the US, they split you into 8 levels, and there is no such thing as not enough - if only one turns up, you get a one-to-one lesson for the price of a group one!
One warning - you will NOT be skiing in T-shirts at that time of year!
I'd love to come, but will only just have come back from honeymoon in Thailand, so methinks I'm out for this one :-(
Have fun!

Agree with Sheepsplitter. Particularly on the warm weather gear. Note you can buy comparatively cheap thermal undies at the resort (I think cheaper than in UK), and even cheaper if you have a day shopping in Calgary and not pay resort prices. Calgary is about 2 hrs drive away, snow permitting. You will seriously appreciate a facemask too. If you are a newbie do NOT buy cotton thermals from M&S, get polyester ones, the former stay wet and chill you.
I love the coach transfer, particularly to/from Louise; 40 mins means you can have a kip on the way home and arrive fresh for going out at night!
More info: Food costs for us were about $CDN 8 for breakfast, 12 for lunch, 25 for dinner. We don't drink, so wine/beer extra. This is the cost for the first week, the second is cheaper as the portions are huge and we were too stuffed to have more than light meals. That's restaurants; there is also a decent Safeway in the centre of town for self-catering, which cuts costs further.
You must go to Banff Springs: lying in hot water looking at the pine trees with snow landing on your face is out of this world!
Right, that's enough for today
