3 year old DC01 upstairs for light duties while it sees out its last days.
Cyclone 8 whatever downstairs for Border Collies x2 heavy duty use.Its true,no loss of suck.
Use Aqua Vac in garage/workshop & on car.Spare nozzle & brush marked with blue tape for car use only,is that sad or what.
God that makes ours a 3 vac family!Shock horror. How decadent is that?

4 year old DC01 and I have a 'if it moves hoover it up' attitude ! It has had serious abuse and I am more than happy with it.
That said, it would never last as long as a Miele. Solid as you like. Typical German build quality. If you have stairs in the house go for a Miele cylinder 'cos the Dyson is a pain to cart around.
Hope the wife doesn't read this 'cos I will get the 'You dont even use the thing' lecture

Yup, our DC01 is still going strong. Regular purchases of the main head, plus filter cleans and emptying and not a fault yet.
Better than the Hoover vac I got suckered into (yes I was done by that free holidays fiasco) some 5/6 years ago.
Treat your vac like your car and you can't go wrong.

The DC07 is a far superior machine to the original DC01's.
As said, Dyson charge £50 to completely change anything that needs changing and give ot back to you like new. Can't be bad
They are a bit plasticky, but they are easy to use (if somehwhat heavy), could suck a bowling ball through a hosepipe (well, maybe not ) and are easy to clean and empty out.
When I had a Dyson engineer round to make the belt-mod he told me that it could be even more powerful but they limit it for safety.
Apparently, the safety test is to make it so that its not powerful enough to suck out a childs eyeball I bet the Dyson testing facility is full of kids with sore eyesockets. Great work if you can get it

Dysons are the TVR of the hoover world. Powerfull, expensive and absolutely appaling build quality.
I also have a £30 dirt devil hoover that I use to clean the car and in my opinion that is just as good as the Dyson and has never given me any hassle even though I have used it to clean up brick dust and small pieces of rubble loads of times.
As a comparison we have 3 Dysons in my family and all of them have broken at some stage or other.
I personally would never buy one again.

Gordo - stupid question for which I apologise, but... Have you tried replacing the filters? After I fitted a new kitchen in our house and used the dyson for everything, it was getting a little heated. The filters were absolutely stuffed.
Changed 'em and it's back to the "Welsh tart in the back of the escort", as MarkO so eloquently put it. I have to defer to his experience of this, but like the phrase.
Nick.

So what after market filters are people putting on their Dysons?
I would lurve to hear more of that cyclone whirl.
I'd be Hoovering/Dysoning all day with the radio off just for that noise.
I am looking at ITG but I've heard that the goo can get sucked in and knacker the motor...
