Got a Blackbird at the moment for fast touring

Had an MV Agusta 750S last year which was gorgeous.

Thinking of getting a sport 400 for track days - anyone got one they want to sell?

670bhp per tonne!! jesus!! no wonder that rear tyre doesn't last long..

Hoping I can get it running at the weekend (new alternater) and save some money on petrol as currently doing about 700miles a week.

Honda wanted £349 for an alternater!!! I managed to source a new one for £60 in the end!

Mmmmmm.....some great sounding machinery! I want something that I can thrash so would be looking at a 600. Having had a ZX6 I know I like 'em and they fit me well so I think another one is in order. Plus I'm only going to have £3-£3.5K to spend and am worried about insurance....I wish Kawasaki would do their £250 fully comp idea again!

I was looking at 600's back in 1998 and noticed the advert for the Blades which were the year the colour was changing and the shop wanted rid of them before the biking season was over (it was end of August) so I got a Blade for 600 money.. lovely... but the insurance has gone up and up.. I would be tempted to swap it for a 600 but it is not worth much with 70k miles on it.

But if you hear of anyone after a Blade and doesn't mind the miles let me know...
going cheap! I'd probably accept £1000 under book price for a average mileage one.

Hey ScoobyJawa,

I too have an Aerox 100 for commuting on!!

Couldn't give a monkey's what anybody else says - great scooter for going back and forth to work. It will do 70+mpg and means that the scoob can stay out of the company car park (too many people who don't give a toss)and at home in the garage.

Have you done any tuning mods to it yet?

I have a race exhaust, and uprated variator/clutch - it now will do 70 on the flat and gets there pretty quick too!

If you're interested i can give you details and places to get the parts?

Happy Scoob driving and Scootering(in this weather )

Nick.

Cant-Turn-My-High-Beam-Off.co.uk

OR

Ride-Like-a-Complete-4rsehole.co.uk

Red face

HEY!!!!!!

I have been there mate - spent MANY a night in hospital following donkeys pulling out in front of my bike!! So dont even THINK of preaching to me about getting swept up off the tarmac!! I was crashing into cars when you were not even a twinkle!! ok?

I STILL think those who ride with FULL beam, blinding me - and who weave in and out of the cars at some mental speed are Complete To55ers - I would LOVE to push their exhaust up their rear end and shove a headlamp in each ear!! would that enlighten their minds??

For gods sake put your lights on but NOT on full beam!!!!

Pete,

Must get this in 1st: I ride a sports bike, and have been riding for 13 years, think bikes are better than cars ( ) and hope to be riding into my old age.....but.....

I agree, lots of bikers ride like complete ar$eholes and are just asking to be knocked off - who's expecting a bike to come steaming down your average high street at 80mph??? not many (and this happens far too often for my liking !!!!!). Lots of bikers have this thing where they blame everything on car drivers and I don't like it one little bit!!!

However, whilst filtering through multi-laned traffic james (such as on dual carrigeways and motorways, I find full beam is the only way to make people see you (and I filter through this kind of stationary traffic at about 10mph!!!!!). It's a jungle out there, and people through ignorance and arrogance, do try, regularly, to kill you!!!!!!

Play nice now

Matt

Ok, Ok, Ok,

Just that I am suffering now for the wounds inflicted upon me by moronic car drivers way back when, I wont say when - but my bike had cable DRUM brakes!!!! and travelling at, say, 60-80mph you couldnt stop when someone in a car 'didnt see you!!'

BUT - I repeat that those riders that ride with high beam REALLY cheese me right off!! In my day I had an orange Dayglow type headlamp cover with my headlight on underneath - why not nowadays??

Yeah, Scooby Bikers Meet!!!

Line em up boys and let me visit with a Road Roller!!

It felt like a penny-farthing, certainly, when I wanted to STOP and couldnt!!

I dont propose any biker sitting in a queue - but no need to 'race' through the traffic scaring the **** out of us old geezers!!

Nick (Coogie)

Hey cool Another Pizza boy Indeed, great little 'ped for getting to work on, mines an 02 registered Max Biaggi edition, with motorsport type stickers all over. lol!! Makes no sense to take the scoob 5 miles there and 5 miles back, doesn't do it any good. Would cycle but no shower or changing facilities at work Hence why I got the ped. Free insurance for a year through Yamaha and job done Just done over 500 miles on it now!!

Absolutely about the MPG - as I said a fill up once a week costs me about £4.20 and will usually get me around 80-90 miles

Mine is totally stock at the moment but I've got 58mph on the flat out of it and off the clock downhill Shame the speedo only goes to 60 tho'

I looked into tuning stuff found loads of stuff from Malossi stuff like 125cc conversions and variator upgrades etc but none of the scooter tuning companies (eg Beedspeed) I spoke to could tell me what the bits did

Would love info on the places and parts - did you fit yourself?

Anyway - YHM!!

Enjoying it loads in this weather - when it rains I still take the scoob as I haven't got the clothing yet for riding in the wet to work

C ya!

Thumbs up

SJ,

Had mine 2 months now, and done over 1500 miles! - think how much petrol money that's saved me?

Yeah, less than a tenner a week in petrol is nice

I'm at work this morning, but i'll mail you later on, and point you in the right direction of tuning companys and mods.

Its pretty simple really - if your'e fairly technically minded you can do all the work yourself.

Nick.

Blimey - lagging behind you a bit then!! Got mine in April but then went on hols and with all the nasty weather only just started to get some miles on the thing

Cheers for the info! I'm not too bad technically, do most stuff on the scoob like swapping exhausts, fitting induction, brakes etc so not too bad when it comes to technical stuff

Oi! No blackmailing ScoobyJawa - I know where you live! Anyhoo, my wife(!!!!) knows my intentions (fnarr). Admittedly she wasn't too keen at first, though I think that was more to do with "wasting" my money than the chance of injury!!

As it is, I've planted the idea of her having a bike herself. Purely for selfish reasons - pillions do detract from the fun. And since she had a spin on the 'ped in Cuba she seems keen(ish). The only downside to this idea is that I can see who'd have to pay for her bike :-(

Nick,

Another quicky - how do mods effect the insurance on a ped? I'm with the Yamaha scheme at the moment....

Also, do you take yours into the red on the rev counter - as my manual says you shouldn't really...........

Ta!

Hmmm - must get round to telling the insurance company!

No really, i will do soon - so i can't answer that one for you.

As for the redline, had it there before and was a bit scary (all i could think of was that little piston shooting straight up my a***!). It won't reach it at the mo' because of the heavier variator rollers i've got in (65mph @ 7.5k!). I'm hoping to get it to rev higher again with lighter rollers i've got on order.

Spoke to some of the guys on the T&G forum, and was told that i shouldn't have a problem with it reving to 9-9.5k?

Incidently, just read on T&G, that the only way to go is with fully synthetic oil - so will be changing and sticking with it pretty soon!

You needn't worry about over-revving 2 stroke engines too much, they'll rev to whatever as there are no valves to bounce. The rev limit is more likely for the benefit of the gearbox, you might snap one of the elastic bands
