As I said I'm not slagging off bikers as a whole, only bad bikers!
I hear bikers slag off bad drivers as if bikers don't make a mistake!! I'm just trying to give some perspective!

I appreciate there is a difference to making progress and riding badly!
I'm talking about riding inexcess of 60mph through a 30mph zone! Weaving between two lanes of traffic, at that speed and jumping ambers on pedestrain crossings, I don't consider that responsible riding.
I'm not suggesting that you or all bikers are like that! All I'm saying is that it's all too easy to blame drivers, but not all are bad. Much like bikers!
Ps - I would be in favour of a bike forum! Even though I don't have a bike licence!

Good idea to have a Bike forum, Ill go for that, its already generating a lot of comments & it doesent even exist yet.
As for lights just to add my bit, Ive lost mates on bikes due to ***** in cages not looking & I therefore have no problem with the lights, I now drive the Scoobie with lights on all the time & yep even then people dont see you

as far as im concerned national speed limit dual carriageways and motorways are fair game for 'making progress'
* - Obviously I stick to the legal maximum limit, your honour!!

even if they used all the lights known to man, couldn't make themselves visable! Like riding at speeds in excess of double the limit and weaving to overtake.

Lets put it in perspective, if traffic is moving in a stop-start situation and someone goes past you at 60+mph! How much time do you get to register the bike??
Also bearing mind that most 30mph limited roads are not straight and have such items as buses, vans, trucks and different sized cars in the way!
I can give a number of examples on the main road near me, but I don't wish to bore you!
I don't begrudge someone going quicker than me, nor do I have a problem with bikes with lights on, I have a problem with badly ridden bikes! As I'm sure any self respecting biker would!

Tarty!, I agree with you:
Taken from this thread
Your concerns and points are good ones but you should continue that discussion on the other thread or start a new one, as the man said, this is votes for a Bike forum
Cheers,
Matt
Must get this in 1st: I ride a sports bike, and have been riding for 13 years, think bikes are better than cars ( ) and hope to be riding into my old age.....but.....
I agree, lots of bikers ride like complete ar$eholes and are just asking to be knocked off - who's expecting a bike to come steaming down your average high street at 80mph??? not many (and this happens far too often for my liking !!!!!). Lots of bikers have this thing where they blame everything on car drivers and I don't like it one little bit!!!
However, whilst filtering through multi-laned traffic james (such as on dual carrigeways and motorways, I find full beam is the only way to make people see you (and I filter through this kind of stationary traffic at about 10mph!!!!!). It's a jungle out there, and people through ignorance and arrogance, do try, regularly, to kill you!!!!!!
Play nice now

Isnt this just going to result in the following top ten threads :
1) All cars drivers cant drive and drive round with their eyes closed and should expect me to overtake on blind bends 6 at a time.
2) I am a better car driver because I ride a bike.
3) Cars are slow and should get out of the way
4) I should be able to filter at 80mph
5) I should be able to wear a blacked out visor even if I cant see where I am going
6) I have come off 6 times but a car driver caused all 6 accidents
7) Blue headlights are cool
8) I dont really speed and I am a sensible rider but I had 170 down the M1 the other day
9) P1 v R1
10) Euro or grey import
Yep go for it should be a laugh knowing how blinkered and anti-car my bike mates are and while we are at can we get rid of world cup forum and have a group buy one
cheers

A bike forum within Scoobynet sounds like the ideal solution for me. Its would be like a "one size fits all". What I mean by that is, I would only need to log on to one site to cover both my car and bike interests.

I dont actually have a bike licence but grew up around them as a few of my mates went from 50's to 1000cc jobbies. Yes I can see both sides of the fence. I just hope I have cured a few of them saying cars are slow .

Agree on the lights issue,
Car drivers in general are soooooooo dum, bikers NEED ot have their lights on, i have 16 broken bones (in 1 go ) to prove this.
The nice elderly lady was having trouble with the cat on the passenger seat as she decided to pull out of a junction the wrong way onto a main road.
"i did not see him, my cat was calling me"
Nope, keep them lights on boys

It's a good idea if we want to keep stuff 'in-house'. If not I can post up some links for bike BBS's?
Been checking a few out and bumped into Scaramanga (BBS poster) on one the other day. Chatting about my new toy. Yes Matt before you ask, Yellow.
Mike.
