Have been thinking about this today and thought...

We know that the closed deck block doesnt have as many cooling/ water jackets around the cylinders... so surly this would mean you could estimate roughtly if you had a closed deck block without taking the engine apart by carefully measuring the amount of coolant the your cooling system as the closed deck block would reduce the cooling system capacity slightly... unless they have extra water jackets else where....???

Wooo Hooo

Thats another of the long list of questions about my car I can stike off the list.
Seeing as you are bearing the fruits of your knowledge, care to enlighten me on some more features of my car??
I could take it to bits to find out but after taking out a loan to pay for half of it and paying £1.5K on insurance and blah blah on fuel etc and dont forget the DIY friendly Warrentys too. It would be cheaper and make sense to ask the peeps on the Forums etc.

Does anyone else on Scoobnet own a Sti Ra ltd Vs2 so I can pick their brains.

Also, I did find a site which showed pics of the two blocks and there differences but I never put it in the favourites!
Anyone know the address ??

Thats not the answer to my question.
I was asking about a specific website that had info on each of these blocks with pictures similar to the ones you have.
Your obviously not into sharing info with newbies for some reason so I thought it would be good to check there. Pity this was like pulling teeth.

Hmmm, I speak for a few here, to those who insult. Be thankful for the info that the people you are insulting are trying to give you. If you do not want to listen to them, go and search for the information you so desperately seek yourself.
Some info may be more useful than others, and I think the question has been answered already

Wait a second
My questions were:
'Does anyone else on Scoobnet own a Sti Ra ltd Vs2 so I can pick their brains'
and
'Also, I did find a site which showed pics of the two blocks and there differences but I never put it in the favourites!
Anyone know the address?'
I hardly see that as cutting off the hand that feeds !
Then you type **** like : er, see, and actually READ my post above
and with reference to a previous comment
'I assume you want to know the difference for specfic purpose, rather than just for the sake of it'

The specific purpose is that im going to print out the two pages, take off all my clothes, cover myself in treackle and roll in the pages.
Who gives flying f^<k what anyone wants the info for as it seems obvious from the begining, its because they want to know, seems valid enough reason to me.

'Johhny man' im with you on this one, all you wanted was an answer to a simple question there was no malice or illwill what so ever and just because someone 'knows' theyve got to have you jumping through hoops for the info.
Then have the cheek to say youve been insulting.
I think those who are reading my post and thinking im just stirring it should have a read through all of Johhnys posts and Pavlos seeing as he did have the information and quote me where exactly, he stepped out of line ??

I thought mine was supposed to have one but most of the info on my car is 3rd and 4th hand info. It was good to find out the quick and easy way tho .

I don’t see how either Jonny or Jaay were being out of line – they just wanted to know an answer to a question. I also wanted to know the answer but never got round to asking.

But now thanks to Pavlo we all have the answer. If you want to check your car, jack up the drivers side, get under the car and with a torch if you look behind the up pipe, (if you look next to the front engine mount) you can see (or not) the grid casting on the back of the block.

I have a MY 94 WRX and it does indeed have a closed deck block.

So thanks to Jonny for asking the question and thanks to Pavlo for answering it.

I will just file that nugget with all the other useful bits of info in my head

Cheers
