As an Asian man i take offence to the tone of your last posting. As someone who has possibly never even experienced racism (from the recieving end), i hardly think you are in a position to offer a balanced view on the subject. The fact is, criminals are criminals regarless of race, and racism can never be condoned. I sincerely hope your posting was down to a poor choice of words and lack of judgement.

I think things are in such a bad state is because so many of these crimes are unreported.

In this case, ASDA had no idea the incident took place, despite CCTV security etc, and no witnesses were mentioned, which left Mojo as the only person able to report the incident to the police. Mojo, understandably a state of shock no doubt, did not go to the police until speaking to his friend. So this could have gone unreported, like the car jacking attempt P20SPD experienced.

If the crimes arent reported the people are going to get away with it - nothing to do with being "untouchable", its more like "invisible". I know many people who have had cars broken into yet not reported it. Its a numbers game - crimes dont get reported, official crime figures look good, and Tony Blair thinks he is winning the war on crime.

Mojo - glad to hear your ok. This certainly not the 1st ASDA/carjacking story ive heard about, so i think a police 'sting' operation is well overdue!

I can't speak for Jerry on this, but I certainly didn't have any racist intentions in my posts. I only mentioned their race as way of a description and I feel my views about Bradford having no go areas are true.
As with so many things it is the minority that spoil things for the majority. My views on this scum wouldn't be any different had they been white etc.
I was simply trying to say that in Bradford the police are facing increasing pressure to not appear racist and any criminal parties are bound to want to exploit this for whatever advantage they think they can get.

My objection is probably more due to an ill concieved and contradictory argument than anything else. I did not specifically accuse Jerry of being racist, as i dont believe he seriously is, just a little misguided in his comments perhaps.

I just said that he was in a poor position to comment, highlighted his contradictions, and said it is wrong to condone racism. I dont see this as crying wolf or playing the race card.

I had my Sti stollen off me nearly 2 years ago, these chaps had set up two sales forcourts in Hampshire and very very cleaverly got chaps like myself and around 40-60 others to part with their loved cars and did a run for it, car was sold on to someone else and I could not have a claim to it. This bunch of crooks were a mixture of blacks and whites. I'm Indian myself (Asia is a big continent, consisiting of Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese etc etc..) but race or creed never came to my mind once! It takes all creeds and colours to be criminals, so lets drop the race thing. Never got my scooby back, never got a penny back but the cops got the gits at last and now they are all banged up awaiting trial. Admittedly the cops could have acted much faster and perhaps I would still have my car...

I can safely say that I, in no way condone racism of any kind - its amazing how a slightly misinterpreted point of a post can get so out of hand on here !!

The reference was purely made due to the location of the incident and the frequency of reports of this kind recently.... I didn't mean to offend anyone !!

The overall point I was trying to make is that many crimes occur like this and the powers-that-be seem reluctant to tackle them. The reason often involves the race issue when it clearly shouldn't - and that is what is wrong. A crime is a crime regardless of who commits it. If I'm rambling, then I'm sorry but I'm sure many people know what I mean.

When it comes to reporting crimes - I accept that many are not and that security measures in places like this could be improved, but many are and there are records and stats to prove it. Big Tony does his usual trick of brushing the damaging statistics under the carpet because they prove that his proposals to "get tough on crime" have completely fallen flat.

Once again, sorry if I caused any offence.

This incident is a bit close to home for me too, tho' I always have a quick look around before I get in me Scoob to see if anyone's hanging around. I think IM should provide a Glock 17 under the driver's seat as standard.
I can understand scoobymanWRC's concerns that he doesn't want all Asians tarred with the same brush, it's just unfortunate that the moronic minority can sometimes cause this.
I've owned a Scoob for five months now and my paranoia has increased exponentially. But not enough to make me want to get rid of it, of course

Quite a worrying trend in Car Jacking - Certainly seem to hear about it more and more these days.

I'd be interested in a remote "Engine Kill/Door Lock" system that could be used to trap the scum sucking low life sh1tbags in their tracks for 30 mins or so if they were able to actually get into the car and drive off. I'm sure that this must be feasible.

Has anyone come across anything like this (A reverse turbo timer gadget ??)

Jerry - I can to some degree understand what you are saying with regards to the Asian element, but I feel you are perhaps wrong in your thinking.

The area in question has a high degree of asian youths who are a bad product of society - I know as I suspect that my P1 (damage of nearly 3k) was down to the same individuals or type of. We have to look to the govt - these kind of people breeze thru a schooling saying that they have been miseducated, mistreated. But they know society will pay for them being out of work, in the meantime they can earn money by other means, and that includes stealing cars and parts of cars (e.g. my back spoiler, my lamp covers and bonnet scoop) and know that they can sell them for easy money to buyers. Worse still they exchange for drugs.

There was a similar story going round a few months ago where the same arsewipes (or type of) were bumping cars in the region, people stopping and then them robbing the cars they had bumped.

I am Asian, and I recognise that in this area it is likely that its low life Asian youths who are a bad product of society i.e. bad parentage lack of education on behalf of those inidividuals (i.e. education is available to all, but only if you want to want to make something of your life) and also that these w*nkers get dosh from the govt. There has to be more from the govt - don't give benefit to these arsewipes !

It's still sinking in how lucky I've been to have locked my doors at that time. Doesn't bear thinking about otherwise.

a) if this gang is 'known to the police' and I've seen that said many times over the last x months, usually referring to what sounds like the same gang, then why the hell don't they nick them? They must have something on them by now if they've been known for this long?

IIRC there was a gang going round Bradford at the end of last winter. They took an Audi A3 of a guy at the Canal Street Tesco, a Honda Accord of a woman parking at work (8am!) just up the road from my office and a Merc on the ring road.

Before I moved out of Bradford there was a Honda CRV nicked by a guy using a gun as a threat near Bierley/Tong Street plus a woman in a Discovery who was lucky as she threw her keys in a hedge after being pulled from her car at lights on Tong Street (A650).

All a bit much really, I'm glad I've moved away but not so glad that I still have to work and shop there. Mmmmm.

Another thing is there are a lot of modded scoobs around Bradford being run by guys who look way too young to afford them...they don't look like the sort of guys who made their dosh by doing well at school either if you see what I mean. Maybe it's all innocent but I have my doubts...at least, they never wave back when I wave at them in my scoob

On the race issue, don't leap to sterotypes about Bradford. There are some pretty scummy people living on the estates on the south side of the city and they are very pale skinned, I can sssure you.

I had an relative in the US who was not racist. He had plenty of black friends but he also knew plenty of (what he called) "*******"*.

These were the ppl that played and shouted the racism card at every opportunity and it was these ppl he didnt like.

I've got an RB5 and one of the options for the alarm and immobiliser sets it to lock the doors when I switch the ignition on. This makes me feel a bit safer as I'm female and usually in the car by myself.

I've now worked in Bradford for 7 years as a telecoms engineer and spend most of my day in every area of Bradford. I had black and chinese friends at college and university and have never had any reason to feel racist until I started working here. Over the last 7 years I have been subject to countless racist threats by gangs of asian lads, one even threatened to stab me if I didn't "get of of their area and back to where I belong" There are several young asain lads at work who seem to think they own the bloody company and give us verbal grief on the phones all the time. When one of my collegues hung up on one of them because of the abuse he was getting, the lad rang back and actually told him to "be careful, cos he knows people" I know at least one of them is driving around with no tax on his car!

I am not racist but this sort of constant abuse makes it really hard for people to be trusting and it will certainly not help the peace cause. I know Ash who had the trouble with his P1 recently and fully agree with his earlier statements. These are the sort of people who use the "race card" and these are the people who need sorting out - NOT asians as a whole!

P.s I know a lot of dodgy "white" areas as well, I'm not disputing that, but most of the trouble I have had is with young asians, that's all.
