, and just for good measure

Glad you are OK mate This stuff is getting far too close to home for my liking I know you shouldn't let people like this rule what you have/do, but seeing as though very little is being done about it (at least publicly anyway) it's another consideration (for me anyway) to change the car.

What would be typical is if in your attempt to escape the SCUM, you broke a speed limit and get done for it

At least you and your pride and joy are OK mate....take care out there

Phil,

I just been reading your story, christ, this is getting more and more common now... I live down in the South East, and I've experienced a car following me back, and I thought nothing of it, next evening same time, there they were, two young kids infact. I have now changed my route and leave early some day's and go home late. Its pathetic you have to do these things to protect your pride and joy. And Phil, u aint paranoid m8, I thought I was being but now after all these threads being posted, its getting far to common now.

glad your fine m8.

Regards,
Markyd

Sorry to hear it Phil

Buy a replica pistol, and if it happens again, just roll the passenger window down and aim the gun at them - I know it is illegal, but we have to start looking after ourselves now as the Police will do **** all about it.

My friend was once being hassled like this on the local motorway by 3 lads in a Nova (of all things). They were being really stupid, then one of them was hanging out of the passenger window trying to grab his wing mirrors!!!

He had a replica pistol, and when they pulled alongside again, he casually opened the window, looked across and aimed the gun straight at the passengers head as he was hanging out.

The driver nearly lost control of the car by veering away and sliding all over the place. They stopped on the hard shoulder to get their breath back

That is well not a sensible idea

FFS don't do that at home or on the m-way peeps!

It is more than illegal, it can get you shot and if you do get nicked for it, you are looking at some serious charges & prison.

Remember when I saw 2 lads with a gun on the M11? They were reported straight away & as I had the leisure to get their plate & good description, they will've received a very early morning call by the armed response unit.

Do NOT try that!

I was in Blackburn in my Scoob about a year ago visiting a mate. I left his house and pulled onto Barbara castle way. It was a dual crriageway and I pulled up at some lights. Two asians were in a Cavalier SRI (sales rep inside) at the sidfe of me. I blipped the throttle and pulled away. Next minute they were on my bumper flashing and trying to get past.

The pursuit went on for about ten minutes out of Blacburn towards Rishton and eventually ended when they overtook causing driver on the other side of the road to swerve onto the pavement. They stopped dead in the street and two of them got out and came running towards my car with bats. I obviously slammed the car in reveres and booted it. People were sstopping and werving all over the place but I didn't care all I wanted was to get the Hirondel out of there.

I lost em and ended up back at my ex girlfriends house with legs like Jelly too. It was a shame that I was solo and my mate wasn't there cos a ruck would have been good.

At the end of the day you don't lnow who you are messing with and those guys could have been carrying knives.

I ain't getting into a racist debate about any of this but it does seems a bit weird that both of these severe cases reported here have both involved asian guys. Is there something we should know?. Are they above the law?

I agree that car jacking seems to be a serious issue at the moment, and not everybody is built like Arnold or can fight like Bruce Lee, and often you're alone and the car jackers arent.

I think it is safe to assume that when you are stuck with your car and two guys come running towards it with bats or other weapons, they will break your window if you do not open it, get access to your car and possibly (probably) harm you.

I personally dont care how illegal it is to carry a chamber loaded handgun in my car. How illegal is it for someone to steal my car / hit my head with a bat or shoot ME?

There is one VERY IMPORTANT THING that you need to know about carrying loaded handguns with you: ONLY pull it out if you are 100% sure that you will be mentally and physically ready to actually shoot at your aggressor. DOnt pull it out for intimidation! It might work, but it might get you shot at as well! Of course, a fake gun or an empty one is no good either.

Hope this happens to you soon as400 but then again its highly unlikley youv'e even got a car worth jacking

why not try reading the whole post people dont chase cars down one way streets for fun especially when it was obvious there attentions are unwanted and especially when an incident smilair to this occured only a couple of weeks ago in broad daylight not 5 miles away
I would say more but youre not worth the wear and tear to the asterisks on my key board.

is it just me, or is there something odd about this. Is this some sort of organised crime to steal newish performance cars? why aren't they nicking porsches?

where are they selling them? abroad? maybe indian subcontinent? or africa? - since they also drive on the left... are people getting the cars back (via tracker or the like) after they have been nicked. It doesn't sound like joyriders to me.

there must be something more to this because there is no way a thief would go to so much bother to get a car when there are so many easier ways. a thief always takes the low-risk option.

Jeeees Phil - You came within a 1/2 mile of my office by the sounds of it. I'll keep a look out as I have to drive along those roads most days. Think it's time to vary my route home every day.

I'm shaking just thinking about it!

See ya soon m8.

Anyway - hope you feel a little less jelly like today.

Oh my god!

Glad you managed to escape Phil...

Part of me wants to suggest we should get 5 of us in a Scooby and go cruising looking to get an atempted carjacking.. if the car has blacked out windows they will have no idea there is 5 of us in the car waiting.. with a video camera too..
But then the sensible part of me says that we would be putting ourselves into danger and all the rest of it.. but at least we would have the upperhand rather than them!

I assume they are using the cars for robberies or just joy riding them? like said above otherwise surely they would go for the Porsches etc...

Who was it who said if you are stuck to ram things from behind so as not to damage the engine and be able to drive off!!! Sound advice!

I have fortunately not been in a situation like that, but even for a girl, I would prefer to fight back in some way than just lie on the ground and give up.

I have a useful item that could be painful if swung at someone accidentally

Unfortunately nowadays you have to be more aware of your situation and what is happening in order ot remain alert.
As a lone female I have become accustommed to doing that anyway and automatically. I am confident enough to be able to drive away at a high speed and be able to defend myself to a point (I know several of my female friends who wouldn't be able to do that )

Carrying a gun is not advice that I would dish out nor condone. It is not worth the risk of getting shot or caught by the police.

Phil,
Not a nice experience.
Glad you are OK.
Can't really suggest any course of action to take in similar circumstances, but carrying a steering wheel lock (bar type) might be handy if genuinely needing to defend yourself.

Cheers MTR

It sounds to me like they didnt like the look of you and wanted to give you a good kicking Phil. I cant see anyone wanting to steal your car to sell on, its too distinctive. Maybe they would want it for parts, but again, those things would be hard to sell on.

I think its a case of two morons not liking your car and wanting to teach you a lesson. You did the right thing getting away, they would have kicked the crap out of you and left the car most likely.

As to carrying hand guns of any description. This is not the USA, but it could quite easily go down that route if morons decide to carry weapons and it becomes a common ocurance. Do you want to see the UK police armed? I dont! If you decide to carry you deserve to be shot by an armed response unit, i wouldnt have a problem with them shooting you then finding out if its a replica or not afterwards.

!!!

You think a scooby driver who carries a handgun (although that might be illegal without a specific authorisation) for self protection should be shot by the Police??
