Got you text last night Phil.
Didn't sound like they just wanted to race. May have wanted the car for a ramraid or something that night.
MY02 Focus with FN plates. Its a brand new local car then, hire car or stolen maybe?
Glad you OK anyway.
John Felstead,
You mean there are people who wouldn't like Phil?

Salsa,
Seems you erred on the side of caution. With so many posts of (attempted) car jackings in your area I don't think I would have stopped to ask them if they liked my car!
Sadly watching out for one's personal security, irrespective of what you drive, is a way of life.
Hope you get over the shock soon and learn any lessons you can from this.
Cheers
WB

Top Thread however.... You dont suppose you pulled out in front of a couple of angry fellas do ya? "just left a friends house
came out on to Gregory Boulevard (opp the Forest) Hyson Green Nottm
car comes up VERY quick behind me..almost touching my bumper..i speeded up as i thought they were going to hit me".
If they wanted to take ya car they made there minds up pretty quick after seeing you for all of 2 seconds... I know that sounds like i'm having a dig but its not meant that way...I just dont understand the "car jacking bit".. I believe that if they wanted yer car the first thing you would be aware of is them putting yer window through at the first junction..Not screaming around the streets drawing attention to themselves.. sorry if i have offend you..... I think you did what was right for you ... But if i found myself in that situ faced with 2 fellas in a focus then i'll be taking my chance's...and they better make there minds up pretty quick if its going to be a rumble...

Scooby Senior
this weekend i'm off to a sport shop and buying a.....
[b]Base Ball Bat (and Ball)
so we can play with it on Scooby Meets!
i've heard that if you have to hand something you can use to protect your self your in your rights to use it!
baseball bat and ball...i'll use on the park!
just a baseball bat can be taken as an orgressive weapon...but with the BALL in the car too....makes it a play thing!
shall we have a group buy???? (POC?) lol
Ps
my legs have stopped shaking now

Any one considered using pepper spray/mase? A small can in the side pocket of the door for when you want to use it!(cover with different lable)it is illegal to have but would be more of a slap on the hand then a full 9yr jail term for a firearm!!
Also know some one who has a stun gun/tazzer in their car but they are considered the same as a firarm in the eyes of the law!!
BTW I DONT HAVE ANY OF THESE THINGS!!!!

Thing about carrying a baseball bat or any kind of weapon is this: If you don't take your attackers down on your first attempt, they're gonna get pissed that you tried to hit them with a BAT and they're gonna take it off you and pulverise your head.
Just something to bear in mind.. I don't carry any "self defence" items in my car anymore..

Baseball bat (and ball) - the law take a dim view of this, they arent silly and if they pull you one day and want to be ar$ey then they will do you for this, especially if the bat is to hand in the car and not in the boot. No reason why it shouldnt be inthe boot.
Now a Six-Cell maglite on the other hand......much better, and heavier and more legitimate to carry in your car. "Hey....officer, my damn home tuned car isnt very reliable and always bl00dy breaks down, need a torch for all the times i'm in a layby at night under the bonnet!" (lol,i'm sure it is reliable really Salsa, no offence meant to ya mota)
Althogh a mate once confronted two guys with his big mag lite after they damaged his car. They picked up a couple of big spades from their car. He quickly left the scene.

WOW glad your OK m8
I have to drive down mansfield road to get to my folks place and will be very vigalant from now on
I think you did the right thing in running, id have done the same thing and as you know I an a great big skin head
As for carrying a gun I spent half my life in the Army and would never concider having a gun for my own protection, if it came to that they can have the damn car after all its insured and i wouldnt want anyones death on my conscience no mater how much scum they were.

Glad your ok mate.
Some Stupid B******s around .Think most of it is based on jelousey(SP?).These people dont like other people having nice cars, the same sort of people who crash into your car and drive off,or those people who sit on your bumper in their XR2's Saxo's and the like.
"Hell mate i could wipe the floor with your ****e XR2 in 1st gear now **** off from driving on my back bumper"
Get yourself some CS gas.Its illegal i know but its easy to hide and can do some real damage, just enough time to give them a good beating

sorry to hear what happened. At least you're ok. If they were after your car they would take your reg number, then phone the police saying that your alarm was going off and sit back with a scanner and wait for the police to call a car and send it to your address then come around later.

actually, the rally car was loosly based on the road car. But that's all pedantics isnt it in a thread like this.
Best of luck with finding these scum and handing them over to the cops.

makes no differance i that situation any car will go up kirbs and fast over speed bumps
p.s. i carry a range of tools in my cars
6 cell maglight (next to drivers seat)
3 foot snap on arm bar (clipped in rear foot well)
cpc label remover areosol with carpet glue nossle (in drivers door pocket)
and yes i've been in a similar situation in manchester with a 15 mile chase at speeds of over 90mph right through the center, apart from we were 4 up in a slow car and they were in 2 faster cars..... and yes i went up kirbs and across major roads when the lights were red, turning round on the hb when roads were blocked... and no i didn't get charged with speeding or going through the red light cameras

True if you stretch back. Still, these f*ckers that want to rob them want chopping up. God, I'd put myself in the place of these people and do the mother f~ckers.

Hmmm not so sure about "The police are highly trained and wouldnt shoot you!"
They only shot some poor ****** who was carrying a chair leg!! dead!
and guess what they got off, said he wasnt sure what it was, IMHO i think police with guns in real situations is dangerous as they must get the red mist and make mistakes.
and yes i do have a firearms licence and have had for 11 years before anyone says out.
Salsa sorry to hear bout that!!!
you might want to try a pick axe handle, doing a spot oof d.i.y
or a stop lock often offends.
makes me want to keep my car nice and standard looking!!

i'm not going to fit a kirb at speed! that could have made the car pitch and roll! plus i'm on 215 40 17's which could have popped! lol
just to reiterate...someone i know seems to think he knows of the focus involved!!

Crikey Phil - glad you are OK Not a situation I would want to find myself in to be honest.
For anyone interested, re BB's comment a few pages ago, it is possible with the standard UK alarm Sigma M30, (new and old shape) to set the anti-hijacking feature that automatically locks the doors as soon as you turn on the ignition.
