WI is what it says on the tin. It injects water at (very - circa 4-6 bar) high pressure into the inlet (see above discussion for exact details of where) which results in charge cooling and a reduction in the det. limit. On the New Age cars (like yours and mine), the ECU will advance the ignition to take advantage of the WI with resultant improvements in power.

Josh dropped by Singapore as part of his vacation and I met him for a couple of hours. He should have some pics when he gets back home - any day now. Its hard to see the fan though, as its *under* the IC.
Well, I do agree that there's no need for a fan if you don't boot if from stop-go traffic immediately. But we all have to admit that top-mount heat soak is a problem with our IC's, and I was just curious as to how effective a fan setup would be. The cost is but a fraction of the price of a FMIC, and it is an easily reversible mod.
If you look at some turbo/supercharged SUV's (good eg would be the previous model Pajero/Shogun turbodiesel), they have fans mounted under their top mount IC's. So this is not a new idea. Guess the OEM's have taken the slow-offroading speeds, that SUVs are expected to face, into account.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting a miracle and I didn't get one. I did however, get some improvements which I'm satisfied with. A FMIC is the "ultimate" solution, but aside from cost, I am hesitant to do it without a reversed inlet manifold/throttle body setup. Now, thats MAJOR work.

has anyone tryed the Invo Auto Viper-jet? its suppossed to be a type of water injecton, it just plugs into the engine vacuum air pipe, no electrics look like it works off presure. saw it in Rev`s aug 2001 they priced it at £280 so its not that expencive

Am getting my car rebuilt with the WI that was intended to be fitted last time around. But what im not going to do is have it mapped to use that all for performance, cos if a nozzle does block i don't want the worry of the thing going pop or causing damage.
So the WI will be plumbed in purely for det protection purposes and perhaps a little more advance to take out any losses of squirting water mist in there anyway
