But what does the Audi <<feel>> like to drive ignoring solidity and outright performance. Almost all reports (of fairly standard-ish at least) Audi's say solid, dependable, stylish but DULL as a driving experience.
I speak as an Audi 80 quattro driver, saving for a scooby.
Mine has bags of power, is solid and reliable blah, blah but has the excitement of a bag of chips...

I would say that it's 'relaxed' to drive (I suppose you can call that dull) or effortless.....But it's not boring when you nail it in 2nd
I do a lot of Motorway miles so I really needed a high speed cruiser rather than another Rally Replica....I intend to build a kit car (Fisher Fury with a Honda Blackbird engine) for track days and 'kicks'.
I've found myself over a number of years modifing cars so that they work better on the track to the detriment of their road going abilities...I think the answer is to have 2 cars, one for the road and one for the track.

Jeff, Flat 4x4,
I see what you're saying and there are some 'interesting' analogies used to explain it!!!!
I agree for motorway cruising the Audi is pretty unbeatable.
re. the 2 cars - I agree but I'm thinking the other way - save the Scoob for weekends (don't do track days - YET) and have a hack car for communiting.

Guys
I like it because it could be a 1.9 TDi.....
I think that the short shift kit is essential and an AmD chip is probable in its near future.....
Almost forgot....no squeaks or rattles at low or high speed, no smell of burning clutch when you nail it, no vibrating rear view mirror, pulls cleanly from 1.2K revs. When you nail the S4 it sounds like there is a jet engine in the distance....nice.

LOL 20K service intervals, my scoob get new fully synth every 1,500 miles . The fiesta is 10K but probably do that every 5K. My 1.3 Fiesta runs a lot better on optimax as well , I have resisted decatting and put my spare STI gold wheels on it though LOL.

I actually have some Porsche 993 'Big Reds' calipers in the garage
so I'll just need the mounts & the the discs.
Move-it use the same calipers....
As for AmD, I've used them before when I had my 944 Turbo and Geoff (the 'chip guy') certainly knows his stuff (The Porsche went from 200BHP at the wheels to 260BHP (300 adjusted) which I didn't think was too bad for a 13 year old car with 140K miles on it )

I tend to agree with you for the first time It would of been good to have seen Quattro GMBH work on the S3 a year or so ago to give us an RS3 That might of shook the Scooby world.
