Autocar MY01 0-100 figures
#31
These figures for the MY01 seem fishy to me.
Evo VI 0-60 ( 0-100 km/h) 5.76 sec
Makinen.
@ 146.5 k/h ( 92 mph) 14.31 sec
WRX Sti 5.32 sec
@ 146.3 k/h (92 mph ) 14.41 sec
APS R -WRX 5.10 sec
(0-100 mph ) 11.29 sec
@ 172.4 k/h (108 mph) 13.15 sec
This is a seriously quick WRX
The above from MOTOR Sept 2000

Jza,
I drove a MY00 and a WRX back to back. Me and chins went on the dealers meet Subaru with a few VIP guests. Chins was driving his P1.
I was invited (by Tileys) as I had previously had a loan MY99 from Subaru UK, a week or so before.
I was deciding between the new and the old shape at the time. Tileys had reserved a MY00 for me.
The drive was much firmer and planted on the twisty 20 mile circuit, interior was far more refined. Two thousand pounds cheaper, but at the end of the day.
But what I didn't like was it just didn't feel as fast. Almost felt slow. The Sport was a nicer drive in my opinion!!
The other thing that put me off was the front lights. I still think they make the car look dame ugly. Even sick!!
Chins waited for the UK300 to finally decide he had to have one.
All in all disappointing to say the least.
Cheers Phill C

For the record i test drove a MY01 / MY00 and a P1 before buying the MY01. I would have chosen the P1!!!
My point about the performance is that the MY01 gives the impression of being slower, but the reality is its very close in the real world. And theres figures to prove that as well.
Cant compare the handling tho - the MY01 is the best of the three in my humble opinion.

I have to say that when the MY01 came out I thought that I would *never* buy one but I have since changed my mind. Why? well yesterday I went in Dave T-S's MY01 and was very impressed - granted that it has a full Scoobysport system, LEDA and 18" wheels but in this format, it is a stunning cross country performer. I would definitely buy one of these but would have to do the mods also - the Morrettes look great and along with the lowered car, the 18" wheels and the Scoobysport rear wing, the car looks stunning!!!!!
Matt
P.S. I think that the more progressive power delivery is more suited to driving quickly as there is little lag and the car is more drivable when there is less surge as the Turbo spins up....
