I would like to see SDB vs everyone in Dingys motor or Davids Exige...

Come to think of it JohnF in either as well.

Not dissing Dingy or David, however I have been in different cars with these two, and IMHO SDB is the most impressive driver I have been in a car with.

I have also been in a 2.0 sport with JohnF in the pi$$ing rain in Manchester....mind blowing, nuff said.

Greatest memory for me was being a passenger in Simons car at 130mph in 3 foot of snow in Bruntingthorpe and watching him steer with one hand on the wheel and the other pointing out a track he hade "made out" and was following...then we hit Ice and slid for about 1/4 mile, me screaming and swearing Simon half chucling saying this could go on for ages...We then regained control (Im not sure we ever lost it-but we faced the wrong way on several occasions) and it bit, we then went for some more.....stunning.

LOL! That was a good day

BIRDY!
You crease me up! You come on here shouting yer god off and saying "my SUPERCAR is better than you MKII escort!" (I know I know it's W9's car, not yours) and then you say that you don't post on scoobynet anymore because of threads like that.

Come off it mate! Up to the point you arrived, this thread had been completely degnified and fun.

If scoobynet isn't good enough for you any more, don't bother posting, we certainly don't want to have to listen to you telling us again!!

Regards

Simon

Indeed, and I have never made a claim over my abilities.. only that of my car !

Because tracks have bends, and you're "faster" only refers to straight line speed.

Let's not let this light hearted thread, which has teetered on the verge of being informative descend into a slanging match.

DINGY IT ISNT MY CAR!
But I bet I`d give you a good hiding in me upside down skip
I look forward to next time and lets just see if everyone will come on the track when they KNOW I`m driving the Skyline
Simon dont tell me that the content hasn`t gone down the slippery slope a bit matey.
Me I`m just counting down the days to ownership of a truley great car and it will be goodbye Subaru!
I read even Burnsey`s had enough!
Ithink this BBS should be re-named the Max Power BBS.
I repect a lot of peoples ability to drive untill I see otherwise.

David you f***ing tosser, this isn't turning into a slanging match

All I can say, is that a while ago I was as narrow minded as you lot - I thought Steves car was only gonna be faster in a straight line - but now I know different.

And so does that EVO 6 driver who was absolutely destroyed round the twisties.....

We are talking full competition tarmac spec setup.

Take the **** or put it down too much and you'll end up with serious egg on face

Even in a Skyline "Racecar for the road" R34 GTR

Craig are you for real?
Are you actually admitting to liking the Skyline for once?
That Evo was tricked up and we wasted it.
As a matter of fact we wasted evrything only a shame that Mike R and Harj and David etc didnt take to the track when we were dancin.
Mind you then we would have got a bollocking for racing?
Me I enjoy a bit of banter but not bull5hit and as far as a lot of you think I talk a lot of it.
Well I`ll just do my thing and we`ll see if I get the God like status of Simon and stef.
Do a lot of you ever catually drive your cars how they are supposed to be driven??
I`ve only done the one car day but as far as I can see they are very tame compared with the countless bike days that I`ve done and they are stil well safe.

Arron,

Yes I do like Skylines - although the Steve I was referring to was Dingy.....

As to driving cars, I've been known to drive mine a little, specially round Donington, so I look forward to seeing you there.

OK, so you're not full off ****, but you're still a c***.

Sound just like me

Pff. Evo 6's Eat those for breakfast *burp* (and I suck at driving, so that's not saying much)

Come back when you've beaten something worthwhile, that was trying to go fast and not on a cool down/warm up lap

I don't care if you spank me 6 ways from Sunday on the track.. I'll have had a great day out anyway

Craig, the EVO was funny, its amazing how many people think my car is a SKIP and doesn't handle.

Pushing the EVO down the back Lanes, then batterying it on the straight, i know I overtook on the straight, but i was about a cars length behind him until i had romm for that move, think he was a bit shocked...

I would say the Bailey MK II would whoop the Exige on track...

Cool

Just picking up on something earlier in the thread ...

The R500 being the best err G Pulling car round a bend ? - anyone know why this is ?

I sort of wondered if it was because of weight ? it's just that I only have 450Kg (unloaded admittedly) so I wondered how well my car would go round corners ?

Ps Tried to work out Bhp / Tonne but couldn't do the math, I have 130Bhp so ...

well, this is fun init.

S de B is an OK driver he is total toss in the passenger seat though.

Me, i am an OK driver i am the bollox in the passenger seat. That makes me a better alrounder. LOL

My car verses an R500. Now there is one hell of a good battle. I had a *cough* race with an R500 round anglesey last year. We were incredibly closely matched. His car definately was better through the slow tight corners but i was surprisingly faster through the faster ones that needed more comitment. I think that is more down to driver than car if i say so myself. LOL

A lot depends on the track layout you are takling as to what will perform best car wise.

There is no substitute for a talented driver who is also experienced of the circuit. Some tracks are a piece of **** to learn and take no time at all to get to grips with. Angelesey i found like that, took me a few laps and i was happy to start pushing. The Nurburgring though, that took me about 20 laps before i felt i was ready to start to even consider trying to push that little bit closer to the limits. I am still way below what my car will achieve there because i am purposely keeping plenty in reserve. I'll bring that limit down slowly there, its the only way to be safe.

I may be wrong on the tyres david, i forget the exige doesnt use the A032's. Let me drive the exige and i'll tell you what they are like. I recon i'll show you what the car can do too, if thats what you want.

Birdy, i am driving Rockingham International circuit on Saturday. Get your boney **** down there mate. There may even be places left for Steve to show us how crap he is.

check the easytrack web site if your hard enough. LOL

Gary

1000 divided by Weight in kg times by BHP

So in your case 1000 divided by 450 equals 2.222222 times by 130 equals 288.888888 BHP per tonne

Si

Edit coz i forgot to put the decimal point in and until i did you'd of beaten Saturn 5

Question

Simon you got me on this narrower tyres thing.
Are you dreaming.
Dont ever remember the GP4 Escorts using 185`s mate.
**** your knowledge would have helped Penti and Hannu and Ari all those years ago if only they`d known hey.
Must have been why we were so **** at tarmac rallies cos we used to use at least 225 rubber :-(

aah!! - still means you would have 403bhp to get 384 per tonne? Have you MMMMMM...power

What bhp did you have at Oulton in January? You were quicker (in a straight line) than me, but only a car length or two down each of the 'straights' and then held me up round the corners and under braking

Have to say though, having spent 2 'sessions' following you round, it was a fun and good display of RWD action!!!

No, I'll think you'll find SdB is all rounder..

I've had Don Palmer drive me around in it on the edge, so I know what it can do

I remember overhearing Aaron talking to the owner of the Skyline (Stephen?) saying something to the effect of "Look mate, you're driving around in what is effectively a car that's worth the same as a house.. so you take it as slow as you like, don't let the ****'s get to you"

Very true words Aaron.. and sometimes we forget that we:

a) are mortal and can get hurt
b) value our posessions and don't want to crash it, just for the sake of being faster
c) prefer to drive well within our own abilities and our car's abilities.

OK.. so you overtake another car.. what does that REALLY mean ? Absolutely NOTHING.

It doesn't mean you're harder.
It doesn't mean you're a better driver.
It doesn't mean your car is better.

Yet people feel they gain such kudos from something that means NOTHING.

gary i ran most of the Session on low boost mate.
about 18 psi...

Full boost on that day was 26psi.
very rarly used it as it was too slippy.

I was also running a new rear suspension setup, which wasn't perfect...as for the brakes.....well you know how crap they were.

I have tweeked the handling some more, geting better.
brakes in 2 weeks.
Low boost is now 20psi and full is 36psi.

I must also add i have never run full 36psi on any track day, only 26.

but then my car is slow aint it.....

Just need to be able to get the power down.
Monte Carlo arches should sort that....

and its 405....

Plus I've got ABS and Aircon, 45mpg, better build quality and a funky interior.

I've got 775.56 Bhp per tonne!!

Add in 80Kg for the average person, and it's still 534.8 Bhp per tonne! Have I missed the point here?

Birdy will know where I'm coming from ( as it were !) LOL

and i'm guessing that thats real-world at the back wheel (not wheels...) bhp, rather than the daft "at the crank" figure...

I reckon i'm in the low 600's (but i've got a flat torque curve ~70 - 75 ft/lb from 3500 to 9000

If you want any help setting the car up give me a shout.

You might want to try narrower tyres on the rear to help with the traction (although you'll be suffering a bit more on the bends probably)..

other things to try to increase traction out of corners... (obviously they all affect everything else as well, so it's a case of picking the right one) ...

- increase rear bump
- increase front rebound
- raise ride height
- reduce rake
- reduce rear roll resistance in relation to front
- reduce rear pressures
- erm.. can't think of any more without more info.

cheers

Simon
