Hate to put the dampeners on it,but some people will cut your hand off for that watch, every scally, thug, knows what it is and what its blackmarket price is.That brand of watch sells in 5 mins unboxed no papers,it sad but true.
Long sleeve shirts for you me thinks![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)

I live in Watch Valley in Switzerland and my office is next door to TAG's HQ although I don't work for them, I used to know a former FD but he left when they were taken over by LVMH and the real management centre moved to Paris.
I still have crappy £30 Lorus Titanium that I got in H.Samuel's which has served me well for the past 5yrs but quite fancy one of these....
http://www.panerai.com/english/index.htm
They originate from Florence in Italy but they have just opened a new facility here in Neuchatel.
The Rolex and Omega factories are in the next town and they are huge! It is amzing that Rolex have continued to stay a the very top of the industry. They are all excellent quality pieces but I have been told that they churn out over a million watches per annum!
A friend is in the industry he says that to pick up a bargain you should think about coming out here and attending one of the trade shows that they have in Geneva or the main one in Basel.
He told me that traditionally, a master watchmaker might have a little project that he works on for 20 or 30 years in his spare time. When it is perfected, he sells it and that is his retirement sorted! Can you imagine! A single watch that sells for circa £300k!![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)

Bollards! Just rang to pay the balance and arrange for the watch to be couriered over
Turns out its not new and not guarenteed by Rolex! Fecking tossers, so I said I will have a new one and was told a 1-2 year wait![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Told em to shove it
Off shopping again soon

POC,
Did you see these Breitlings? This is what I got 'cos I wanted lightweight, not chunky with alarm and stopwatch. Breitling Aerospace Titanium. You can choose different background, dials and straps.

I hear the big difference btwn Rolex and most others is the depreciation, or lack of. Most others you will sell at a loss, Rolex you can usually sell at a profit after 5-10 yrs.
Having said that
I bought my Rolex s/h for 1600, 4 yrs old, new price was 2170. It had no box or papers but was from a major s/h dealer in New Bond St. This meant I didn't have to wait for 6 mths for delivery. Sent it to Rolex for a service, it came back with service papers, they are good enough for me. I don't intend to sell it ever.
And I'm HAPPY to have a Rolex that lots of others have got, precisely because people think it is a fake. So they won't chop my hand off!

POC,
If its minted, get the dealer to have it serviced by Rolex uk. It will then come back with a full Rolex guarantee, and literally as good as new.
Alternatively phone Rolex UK for a uk dealer list and phone around.
There will be one somewhere, kicking around.
Alternatively, buy "grey", but be VERY carefull who you buy from.

Paul, I had a thought last night (it hurt
). Applies if you can wait five months.
You're going to Banff, Canada. Not sure about Canada but I've heard from a number of people that the USA has a surplus of Rolexes, they're in stock in the rich areas like NY and LA and can often be bought at 5-10% discount. Banff is near Calgary, an oil town and pretty wealthy as Canada goes. If you look on the web for Rolex dealers in Calgary, you could reserve one now and pay when you go over. The bonus is, all over Banff they have leaflets in the hotels with Tax Refund for Visitors forms, where any purchase over ?100CDN has the tax refunded to your UK bank account in a few months' time (remember this peeps if you buy expensive ski clothing over there!). Tax is about 9% ISTR. Get the tax form for the actual Revenue department, not the private company that pays you at the airport but keeps fifty bucks' processing fee. This way you will effectively save 150-odd quid on the watch, even if you lose a little on exchange rates and commissions. There is a rumoured problem that UK Customs won't like you coming back without paying some sort of import duty, but so many people come through Heathrow wearing Rolexes I don't honestly see how they could check.

I reckon the solution is to wear the watch, and post the other stuff to yourself (or a friend).

Not a bad idea Brendan, like you style mate!
But I am an impatient guy, things need to happen now! If they dont then I will loose interest and spunk the money on lapdancers and class A drugs then wake up with smelly fingers and a cracking headache!
(joking BTW!) Am looking at a rather nice Omega DeVille soon, like the look of the watch!
Cheers guys

Finally found the one I want - Omega Seamaster in Titanium.
Only trouble is I can get a steel one for £800 ish and this is £1550 for about 40 quids worth of titanium.
But it is a whole 2 ounces lighter![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Still looking for a reputable US web site. Anyone?
Failing that, I'll get one next visit to the US. I'm fecked if I'm giving some poshed up shop assistant £700 profit on a watch which can't tell the time properly.

Tiggs - must admit my wrists are a little weak since I got someone to do that kind of thing for me ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Have you seen that Seamaster with 007 on the dial, wft is that all about - how tacky - undoubtedly bought by punters with a BMW 318i with no badges...
