In the real world you'd be in 4th (or even 5th)....
Obviously you've tuned your Impreza to the Max (Power) and there there isn't anything going to touch you.....
When are you getting those tasteful Neons fitted ....?
You need to write to Men & Motors, I'm sure they would be interested....!

Jeeze jeff!! Your calling me a pax power boy and yet look at your 'my car is faster than yours' posts. Look at the stats for the standard cars, all you'd need is for the scooby to be running a 1/4 tank of fuel and the S4 a full tank and the Impreza is quicker they are that close for straight line performance!!
My car isn't fast!!! It's only got a scoobysport back box, TEK2 and dawes at 1.2 bar but its still enough to take on an S4...sorry but its true! It'll have about 275-80 horses in a few months which should hump a standard S4 no problem.
I'm not slagging, I love the S4 and think its a great car and if you can make it faster then that's brilliant. All I'd ask is for the money you'll spend would it not be better just trading up to the RS4 for some real power?

That would be GRP B, the mild audi's were in GRP A.
----
info - Quattro sport 315BHP 0-60 4.8 secs and cost £51000 new and super rare.
(Top Gear did a versus Quattro sport Vs Evo 6, mind you Tiff was driving the Quattro and Vicki just beat him in the 6). We are talking 20 year old car Vs modern tech.
The 20V quattro is 220BHP would still give a standard UK Impreza Turbo a good battle, mainly down to it's chassis.

For the life of me I really cannot understand how the Impreza (wether the new or old , sti or P1 or whichever) compares to the UrQuattro!!!??? No one has or feels any want to compare the two cars.
No one either on scoobynet or any mags seems to have even really compared the cars in any comprehensive way. (the last comprehensive comparison (also Evo in their first issue) I read on the Quattro was Fast Lane, where it beat an Integrale in a twin test) Autocars old vs new road rally cars article was so slight, the words amounted to no more than a sentence or two. A few years back Performance Car did a comparo of UrQ, Impreza Escort etc. they said Impreza more adhustable Quattro more reassuring. Still no major comparison of handling in any back to back way.
And I cannot tell you all the number of times I've asked 'experts' this question, always answered the same way: "well time has passed the Quattro by", "the game has moved on","theres 10 years worth of development between the two". All these comments without any real comparison. Especially after reading so many posts like on this thread, I am inclined not to beleive the 'experts'. I am inclined to believe that possibly in several catagories of handling the old Quattro has the measure of the Impreza! And until someone can prove otherwise I suppose thats the best assesment any of us could make! (new generation or not)
Isn't it time (before all the Quattro's are gone or in muesuems)that someone writes up a good comparison?
Could maybe someone do an Internet article at least doing a back to back comparison over challenging roads (wales) in mixed weather?
What do you think, does what I've written have any truth to it?

Errr.....S4s cost between £16-23K.....RS4s are around £36-45K...
Slight difference....Don't you think that for £850 that 315BHP & 390ft/lb is 'real' power
The point I was trying to make (not very well) is that Scooby owners appear to think that they have the fastest/best handling/quickest/most powerful car in the know universe.

Jeff - I would definetly think about the 5k upgrade mate, I know it's easy saying, but I bet 1-2 years down the road you will have spent that anyway.
500llb's torque, that's obscene

... but of course, on scoobynet, scooby owners do have the best car in the whole world ;-)
Only time I saw an RS4 really trying, I was in my mates lotus with him, coming off a roundabout onto a private road. My mates says 'don't look now but there's an audi up my a**e', by which time, even though he was flat out in 2nd, the audi had steamed past and was tanking up the road. We tried to chase it, but gave up at 130ish, at which point he was dissappearing over the horizon.

It depends on your defination of best.....
A Fisher Fury with a Honda Blackbird engine will out-handle/out accelerate any Scooby (assuming dry roads) and can be built for 10K
Westfield Megabusa.....ditto
Of course they don't have 4 seats etc

I was refering to "proper" cars not bikes in drag.
Hmmm RS4. First decent car Audi have made in a long time IMHO. Looks hard as nails. Only problem in my view is the price. I know it is an awesome car but still seems like a lot of money to spend on an estate car. I mean for the money you are definately in decent porker territory and I know which one I would rather have

What is it with all these dodgy new cars and the recalls? I mean off the top of my head I can think of the Audi TT, the new Mini (twice), the RS4 (chocolate wheels ) and the Mitsubishi Evo. Is it me or do these occurences seem to be getting more frequent.

Jeff I've never subscribed to scooby's fastest things on the planet theory. Even in the twisties in dry weather I think my old VTS would have kept up pretty well. I never give hot-hatches an inch in case they are packing some serious power. Even if I did get beat I'd show respect. All of my favourite races in the VTS were the one's where I got beaten! I would say the same about the scooby but I've not been beaten ......yet!
Re: the RS4 situ! Look at it like this, my car will soon be about P1 quick.........guess which one I'd have if there was even the slightest hope of affording it
By the way, that RS4 picture would have been far more interesting if the computer had been set to display the 'instant consumption' Must be about 5mpg at that speed

And I thought that was 172 owners.

One thing I seem to remember is that the RS4 is estate only??? Suits some people, but wouldn't be for me. Chipped S4 saloon - yes please!
S4 with 500 lbft torque has to be one of the ultimate Q cars. Even normal they're very nice beasts. If Jeff gets his chip, I hope I see him about (maybe even get a ride? ), but wouldn't expect to beat him in real world drag race.
Not quite a scooby competitor as it is much more refined and high speed cruisy with storming pace, scooby is rawer but a bit sharper handling. Evo is rawer and sharper still. Said it before and say it again, all great cars, get what suits you.

Saxo boy,I'm driving a 296 bhp STi at the moment and i'm just about to upgrade to a Nagaro Blue S4 Avant to carry the kids about in.
It will have an AMD chip and a miltek exhaust pushing out about 325-330 bhp and although it wont have the lightning acceleration the STi has to 50 or 60 but it will have after 60 and beyond.
I'll love my scoob till the day i die but i have to comprimise between power and family capabilites, this way i get the best of both worlds.
6 speed
silk nappa
bose
loads of torque
Oh and two turbos
PS a standard S4 will outrun a std scoob but not around the twisties.
All the RS4 is ......is an S4 lump with bigger turbos, headers, intercoolers, cams and of course an ecu mod.

0.4 of a second 0-100 difference is hardly outrunning IMO....it's sticking your nose in front! I love the S4 as well and would probably happily have one if it wasn't for the existance of the M3 which I think is a better car.

Hugh, I think your two years overdue with that comment, and shouldn't you have posted it on the evo.co.uk forum?
Sorry, my mistake. I seem to have posted on the Max Power forum by accident. I really wanted to know if my Fiat Multipla Diesel would give a P1 a good seeing to. It's lowered, so it's got to be a close thing.
