Mate got toasted by an Audi Quattro Turbo wide arch!

Having just had a ride in an S4 it is a very fast car. The engine pickup is superb from low down and it just carries on untill 7K revs. The sound is also awesome. The S4 will still press your neck back into the seat at 90mph in fourth gear which a standard Scooby would not do.
Saxo boy, you should not believe the performance figures you read all the time. Audi are renowned for having modest acceleration figures. From my experience an S4 would certainly outrun a Turbo Scooby after 60.
The one thing about the S4 is its lardy handling. In the dry on a twisty there would be nothing in it between an S4 and a Scooby.
As for the RS4....

One thing most Scoobies lack in relation to the 6 cyl turbo charged engines is flexibility. I swapped my old P1 for an S4 and for months still couldnt get over the pull in each gear and the outright speed. In a tight second gear roundabout the scooby can get caught off boost, the Audi doesnt. It will have scooted off into the distance. There is no way a Scooby would leave an S4 trailing in a straight line.
For 5k Jeff would get slightly better than std RS4 performance from his S4. Thats a car hitting 100 in about 10 secs. Even after a simple chip and exhaust he will be in the 11 secs and his top speed will be way above most Scoobies. What your not seeing again is in gear flexibilty. I had a go in an S4 with 5k engine mods. Certainly not been in a Scooby that had that pace and Ive been in a few. My latest change from STI 7 to RS4 reveals quite a big gap in get up and go. Hope the PPP will narrow that. But there are some pretty tasty mods for the RS4 to open the gap and then some.
S4's and RS4's are certainly not the best allround cars out of the box and a Scooby is a more complete package, BUT a few quid here and there sorting the suspension and brakes makes for a fantastic car.
A number of the Audi guys go to Santa Pod. Good to see some Scoobies vs Audis
As for the bendy wheels, all RS4 owners are being offered a new hardened wheel Free of Charge.

Whats Max Power got do with anything Hugh?
Max Power is a magazine dedicated to modifying cars, so I would assume that it has lots to do with the modified car scene.
Hope this helps.

Scooby Regular
Chins, The reason the RS4s had soft wheels in the first place was because during reliability testing they found that the normal wheels were transmitting excessive shock loads into the still standard S4 suspension arms, which were then cracking under the strain It was apparently decided that it was cheaper to make new softer wheels, than develop uprated suspension components that were up to the job.
A classic case of what happens when a car company gives the accountants more say over the development of a vehicle than the engineers!

Hugh, how is the evo.co.uk forum these days, I haven't been there for a while!
It has its ups and downs. Get's a bit steamed up occasionally, but that's part of the fun isn't it?
BTW you're FG you are!!
Yeah, I know. And I'm a fantastic lover. I'm lucky.
