EB...i know page 1, it was just a shock as i saw the DIY TIG FMIC mans car on friday night in the flesh and it looks totaly different, and thats not just the dust
Think i am glad i went with the APS FMIC, when it arrives, and not the PACE. Hate having to alter things that were "made" for your car.

theo,
dont forget to "thank" him for his fantastic advice!
claudius has been rating himself for a while, and unfortunately is one of those evos rule the world people!
Perhaps moving to france automatically makes you more french and hence more hated?
I am waiting for him to offer to meet you in person, now that would be amusing.

Sounds like a pretty sorted guy to me. Even if he has a big mouth problem and wades in right away!
I haven't seen him say that Evo's are better than everything, only that they are good.
Mellow out guys
EvilBevil, I didn't think you did have a go at me , just a generally statement that you were getting a bit ragey.

We all love you Evil. Claudius is entertaining, a kind of modern P1WR or Scooby370beast PRO PRO PRO but way more knowledgeable so even better at winding people up? And actually sometimes helpful, perhaps more so on the technical posts if he was a little less insulting since we all have our egos to polish

paul, dont think theo was ever having a go at you.
john, show me a thread where claudius has added soemthign useful.
Look at any post he has contributed to and all of them say imprezas are crap evos arent.
It really gets on my nerves as its counter productive and boring.
If he managed to convert the masses then the mlr would become scoobynet and he would probably hate that.
What annoys me more is being told constantly the evo is a better performance car. Personally I agree, have said it before and will say it again, but unfortunately, mitsubishi dont make a 22b equivalent, so I have stuck with my subaru. Were it not for the 22B, I would have an evo, but its boring to be constantly reminded that I should make this decision.
I love winding people up too. but only when I have fresh material to attack people with. using the same old jokes to me just shows a lack of imagination and a boring life. He is a clever guy, I just wish he understood that in drivetrain, people are here to learn. If you want to get a fun rise out of people, do it general and dont waste the time of those who are here for valuable purposes, who dont want to waste time, they want help.

I thought Theo took a remarkably mild mannered approach...for Theo
Claudius does seem knowledgeable in some area's, just a bit aggressive in approach perhaps? Claudius, you give the impression (to me) that everything you write is cast in stone and absolutely correct. It's not, no-one is that good!
Personally, I was looking forward to the logic that could convince me a Torsen diff was slow

Thanks for the further thoughts guys. I feel a bit silly for losing my rag again (Richard ) and I know I'm somewhat of a hothead. I was asked to calm down, so I did.
I also know Claudius is not stupid. But...
I love a ruck or a "pslewis" as much as the next guy (or even an "Adam" ), and I actually think Claudius could be a great contributor to Scoobynet if he just toned it down a tad. I told him this before, he ignored that.
It's all pretty much personal interpretation I suppose, but the "cast in stone" comment that Richard made is indeed what irritates me.
We don't have to be "all nice" all the time, but insulting people *all* of the time is not great either.
Anyhoo, Pace ... it does work and I'm having fun with it now Next project is getting heat wrap on both uppipe & downpipe, and protecting the FMIC/turbo pipe as suggested before.
Oh, and Adam, I would prefer a 22B over an EVO, but - without much to support it - would probably prefer an EVO over a UK Scooby. Doesn't mean I don't love my car to bits.

IIRC, Claudius usually becomes reasonable/absent after his more technically suspect statements (eg Diffs, RWD etc...) have been reasonably and logically challenged. Maybe the reasoned argument approach does actually work.
Back to the Pace topic (before i am asked to fvck off the thread ):
Has anyone else actaully got around to boxing the pace intercooler and rad system to improve efficiency?

Now, I know its a very crap drawing, but you get the idea. Taken from Corky Bells turbo book.
The reactangular thing is the IC, with various ducts protruding from it. The other squiggly lines represent the airflow.
Left, good
Middle, good
Right, Best. The actual opening only nees to be about 1/4 of the frontal area of the IC core apparently. This method of ducting ensures that all the air in front of the core, actually passes through it instead of escaping around it.
I did it from memory, coz I cant find the bloody book.

Part of the theory is that if you allow the air to expand as it goes towards the rad, you slow it down, thereby increasing it's pressure.
If you look at the rad and i/c ducts on race cars you will see this is exactly what they do, as it gives the best compromise of cooling and drag.
