Damaja,

I fail to see how your little comment can get me steamed up. I have not bitten and will not bite. I will also not waste any more time on your pathetic little issues.

Your sort will come on and try to upset the apple cart but as those before you, it will soon become apparent to you that nobody gives a toss about your opinions and replies to your posting will deminish.

You'd better go now as Tellytubbies is about to start.

Well, shame this one is now turning into a slagging match (I never do that, honest ) as it is a worthy topic...

Agree that the moving to muppet was perhaps a bit premature ?

Neil did have a point in felines doing a lot of sleeping BTW.

My point would be: where do you draw the line. It's obvious in the case of lions/tigers etc, but not so obvious with other wild animals. My fish seem to like their captive life (well, they are pigs with fins really), so do my cats, turtles I have no clue ... etc etc...

Do we approach this from a moral POV, or from a practical/ethological/biological POV ?

I agree that "saving the species" is somewhat of a red herring BTW... the bigger wild animals need a serious habitat, and no zoo would be able to afford that kind of space. Then again, you'd be surprised as to how big the habitat of a domestic cat would be ...
(including bonnets )

My opinion would be: having TV, mags, internet etc... there is no real point in "showing these great animals" to kids etc... so basically agree with Damaja.

Maybe from ambush, or at least a co-ordinated attack...

Contrary to popular belief. The markings on a zebra are'nt for camoflage, they are in fact warning marks for cheetas etc to stay away, as Zebra's can get very fierce.

I never would have believed Zebra markings were for camouflage. I can see them to cross in the road pretty easy

I never said Attack Zebra's exist. I only said they were fierce. Their hooves can crack the skull of a lion.

I don't belive that Zebra Stripes are camoflage(sp).

I remember all the Ford's with Zebra stripes and you could still see they were shi*e.

So what can do a Zebra in a fight?

My money is on a Hippo. They look well fierce

Talking

We currently have a frog living in captivity in our garage.

We leave the door open, but he seems more at home hiding amongst the spare wheels and assorted car bits.

Is this cruel?

Only if you let the hunting horses hear about him being there.

I reckon we've only never seen a zebra eating a lion because the camera crews are ambushed by more zebra whilst filming...cunning devils...
