DeltaDash (EcuTek) vs. KnockLink
#32
Knocklink is very good and can be "too" sensitive. With the sensor mounted just behind the oem item and the sensitivity at max it will even pick up you engine cranking over. I always set to max and the correlate with det cans, then advise the owner on what should be seen as normal. Most cars produce a steady green light above 5800rpm which is just background, alot cause flicker between 4 and 5k which is light "tinkle" and nothing to be concerned about. It will aways show up transient det as a big red "splash" but thats all it will be and this is either something you worry about or not, its mostly caused by too fast boost ramp plus/or a slug of oil vapour getting carried into the intake as the boost max's out.
I used to think it was ecu processor related but its not ... it happens using Link, Motec (M800 and M48) and Jecs so knocked that theory on the head.
Since installing my oil catch tank I don't get transients any more.
Bottom line is its something you should have if you uprating ... yes its got an ugly box but so what, there are lots of options for the imaginative, I removed my cct board and mounted directly into my centre pod above the gauges (and knocklink) looks great there. If you have a spare single din space then they mount flush faced and also look pretty good I think.
