The Best and Worst scooby dealers

I'm cancelling the good vote for Beechdale. Bought my STI7 from their Derby office - was persuaded to pay an extra £200 for a so-called super duper wax treatment. Car had white residual marks in nooks and crannies which ran as soon as it rained - looked a mess. Loads of drying marks inside where they'd used too much solution. Also still awaiting return of my orange reflectors after ordering clear ones as part of the purchase. Also agreed to throw in some merchandise - still waiting (4 weeks). Salesman far too 'matey' for my liking.
Used Dennis Common for 1k service - very good.

How long have you got. Sales were ****e, it was like i had to ask if I was allowed to have a turbo. Even after giving them £4 grand in cash, it was "do you still want he car?"
Complain to subaru, md Richard Pulleyn, nice bloke eventually, apologises, and get reasonable service from Nick the Service manager. Although the straw that broke the camels back was when a mechanic, which i regarded as good, told the recovering driver that the guy who drives this car is a complete and utter nutcase, etc, etc. The recovery driver was my dad.
Bought my next 2 from SG Peth in richmond from the used car guy Peter Law, top bloke, no problems.

Anyone got any opinions on Lancashire dealerships? I've got to decide where to take my new (to me anyway) MY00. It's allways handy to know who's hot and who's not, in advance.

Bad - Sparshatts of Botley - Southampton -> lots of people I know have found them to be terrible.
Good - Mill Lane - Basingstoke -> Inversely lots of people have found these guys to be top notch

Found Ashburton Motor Works very helpful, well priced and delivered what they promised, also phoned back as they said they would. Top marks
Haxby,s of Plymouth would,nt touch them with a barge pole, still waiting for a phone call back and that was 4 weeks ago. No marks

Reinstating the good votes for Derby and Notts BEECHDALE.
Good lads when you get to know them. If I have had a problem they WILL sort it out. You've just gotta ask em !
Bad - again no reason to go elsewhere !
Dave.

Would agree that BEECHDALE at Nottingham are very good. When buying our car nothing was too much trouble - arranging test drives of various models, including extended time - and they kept in touch when we had to postpone the order because of me being in a bad RTA.

Back to Gilesgate, I know of at least another 5 people who have had major hassles with them. In the end the garage lost sales because these people went elsewhere.
Complaints range from:
- Women being spoken down to when it is actually them wanting to buy a car. ie speaking to the man all the time.
- Potential customers made to feel like dirt when asking for a test drive.
- When you get a test drive, the salesman drives like a lunatic in a 30mph zone even with a pregnant lady in the back seat and insists you take the car back to the garage after only 5 mins!!
- Continually ignoring you or getting on with other issues when they are supposed to be dealing with you. ie if you are dealing with the salesman, he will always attend to other pressing issues, ie phone calls, other customers. If however you are the other customer, he will ignore you and keep on talking to his cronies. A case if the face fits.
- Being rude and trying to be clever when they were actually dealing with someone who works in the motor business.
- Brushing people off with lame excuses concerning problems with their cars.
- Saying they are closing early when there is 30 mins left before close of business just to get rid of people.
On a brighter note, no problems with Dennis Common in Northumberland (very helpful) and to a lesser extent Stan Palmers of Carlisle (although they did charge me for topping up the windscreen fluid) when it was 99% full anyway!!!

Went to Mitsubishi garage thinking about it, told them i was interested in a EVO 6 and they said why not try a EVO 7 anyway, well drove in the scoob still, on another day, was a bit wet, and the guy just drove like a maniac from cold and said told us that it's wet and that it would be dangerous for us to drive a FQ300 was it??
So it was kinda crap! What's the point??? Just went for a drive like i do in my scoob....
oh this is in poole.

Gilesgate looked down at me because i was wearing jeans and showed no interest whatsever despite me giving off buying signals. o had nly 20k to spend: !! wildings salesman was a true professional although we differed on price. stan palmers treated me with respect as a customer and showed enthuasism which is so important with a car like a scoob.

SG Petch at Richmond.
Wonderful service - friendly, helpful and do the job they're paid to do first time, every time. Bought 3 Impreza Turbos and a WRX from them since 1994.
Even rang up once to see how I was as they'd heard I was ill!

Got to put in a shout for Bell & Colvill, Nito on the sales side is the best bloke you could wish to meet and knows more than most enthusiats/mechanics and Ken on the service side is top too.
Concours in Haslemere, not so hot, I wouldn't take my car back there.

Walked in to Adams wearing jeans & an old rugby shirt for a nose around those cars I've seen on TV Rally coverage and walked out with a Terzo .
Thats what I call sales
Service also very good but maybe not the cheapest in all respects.
A still happy after 2 years Ian
