And they wont use nukes I dont reckon, for fear of the thousands that would come pouring back at them
They're not rational, and won't consider the threat of a counter-strike as a reason not to let off whatever fireworks they may already have.

b2zero,
agree with your comments about the mosque, My jaw dropped when I read that, so theres a war against terrorism but known terrorists are holding a 'celebration' on wednesday in a country we are/were at war with? It just beggars belief, this country is so PC it's f***ing itself up its own ****!
Same as the gulf war, all iraqi's should have been immediately deported, any ex-national from a country we are at war with is potentially a security threat. This cant go on any longer!

All this crap about "Saddam could make a bomb within a year, if he could steal the fissionable material", is just that. Crap!
So could I....Ihave a degree in Physics...but the watchword here is "if he could steal the fissionable material."
I believe loads more people than Saddam could do this, but we're not talking about invading them are we?
I STILL say this has got more to do with oil than it has with weapons, be they mass destruction or otherwise.
I trust Dubya about as far as I trust B.Liar. Between 'em, they're cooking up something VERY scary. Question is: how can we stop 'em?? And the simple answer is: we can't.
We voted the stupid pr*ck into power, and he's going to drag us, and maybe the rest of the world, into a war that no-one will really win.
God help us all!!!!!!!!!!

The stealing bit is easy my friend, Saddam being very good friends with Mr Bin Laden can get his hands on the required material. Bin Laden had tracks into Afghanistans neighbouring Russian states where the the nuclear plants/storage facilities deteriorated and shut down when Communism died. Not so long ago when investigators from outside the USSR and its relatively newly formed countries entered these sites and found that certain 'material' was missing. The decline of communism and the sudden creation of individual states meant that all of a sudden these states had control over all the resources in their boundaries. The shortage of cash meant that high value products were sold to the highest bidder, who ever it maybe, with not an eyelid battered. When the investigators looked into where this material had gone, there was no trace of it. It had been sold! That is how Saddam gets his hands on products he shouldn't have.
To add this is the same route he got his biological weapons from, old stock stolen/bought from the old USSR stock piles that got inherited by the newly formed states that needed cash and needed it fast. Isn't corruption a wonderful thing!

Any of you remember the Anthrax scares immediately after 9/11?
The source of that Anthrax was traced, to a USA biological warfare unit. It looks highly likely that the person who sent those letters was a senior figure in the US biological warfare programme who thought enough money wasnt being ploughed into research for vaccines.
Guess what, the budget for that department has escalated beyond belief. The CIA/FBI know who did this i believe, no one is in prison as a result so far.
Look a little deaper and dont trust the propoganda/news.

We all know Sadam is one bad mother funner.. BUT is he really stupid enough to start a nucleur war on the west? Think about it.. Sadam nukes Birmingham.. just exactly how much of Iraq do you think will be standing above 2cm? Answer NONE..
Now they all MAY believe that they'll go to heaven for waging war against us BUT let's believe this.. Sadam and his mates are pretty much in heaven now.. They get all they want and live like kings in their own flea pit.. I don't see them cashing in those chips on the off chance..
Sure Sadam wants nukes.. you know why.. because it makes him look hard.. and he can rattle his sabre against his neighbours.. he had bio and chemical in the last war.. did he use them NO.. Why?Because he knew he would open the door for tactical nukes to be used against him...
Let other countries make a stand for a change.. Let Blair pay with his own feckin blood first..

When will I be able to move to my plot of land on the Moon that I got for Christmas? Think I'll prefer to dodge meteors than stick around for this one.

LOL @ MarkO
Can we ask him to do Manchester and Liverpool while he is about it, concentrating on Anfield and Old Trafford![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

London and Highbury will be safe tho
Bin Laden is an Arsenal supporter! However next time I see him on the terraces I'm gonna give him a right good kicking and hang him up by his Arsenal scarf ![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I was reminded yesterday of this - just when you get comfortable, and someone starts vacuuming in the same room, you feel uncomfortable and KNOW that wherever you stand/sit you are going to have to move sooner or later, and get fidgety....
So the answer is send 30,000 women with vacs out to iraq. After two weeks or so of constant shuffling and uncertainty of where to stand any army would be so demoralised they'd all go home

after reading comments it makes me laugh to hear people to say we should just go in there and bomb the living daylight of iraq people. Iraq have been subjected to bombing campaigns for the last 11 years by the USA and us killing many civillians in the process.
We have imposed sanctions on IRAQ just giving them enough to make the country run. Iraqs neighbours don't see him as a threat, we still don't have any solid evidence about anything. At the moment all i can see is the propaganda machine in full effect brainwashing people in the process to justify WAR.
If we attack IRAQ it will not be good for us, we may be safe for now living our lives, what if IRAQ in retaliation knowing that they have nothing to lose and judging from Sadaams profile lauches atttack against us. Are we in a fit state to defend ourselves ?
I not for IRAQ in any way. I am basically looking out for me and my family and friends. To me loss of life can not be justifed as acceptable losses for any cause.

I totally believe that to defend us and ours we should be prepared to go to war.. To go to war because some american with a sub-standard level of intelligence and a falling opinion poll seems crass beyond belief.
All the talk of a blood price is designed to get that British patriotism to the fore and the brains to the rear. Let him send Leo to die on foreign soil.. then we'll see how much he believes.. ****!

I think the real play to look out for from Saddam will be his attacks on Israel.
As soon as we start steaming in properly (not just small air raids....we did another against him today if you havn't noticed) he will attack Israel with everything he has got. I think this time his scuds will be tipped with biological weapons, the guy will have nothing to lose.
The current Israeli government takes very little **** and will retaliate in a big way (probably not with nukes). Once a Jewish state attacks a neighbouring Arab state it could be just enough for other Arab states to attack Israel......THEN IT GETS VERY MESSY INDEED.
Iran are very nervous because they are next on Americas list after Saddam.
I have been listening to the rhetoric and firmly believe that it's time to finish off the job we started 10 years ago.....and finish it once and for all.
The French as usual are cowardly in their actions and are perfectly happy to stand back because they know the UK will step in. I think the Germans have a similar philosophy and are happy to conquer europe by economic means this time round
.
I think the outcome will be Saddam deposed and another government put into place by the west. The WW3 senario will not happen but we can expect a LOT more incidents of terrorism against the US and UK. We will lose a lot of innocent people as a consequence for our actions of backing the yanks but I think it's time to show who's boss.
I'm glad I don't live and work in a large city

Getting rid of Saddam would be a good thing for Iraq, but wouldn't help the US' cause. They (and indeed us) are despised in the Arab world because of our double standards in foreign policy in the region. We harp on about Iraq having this wepon and that weapon, or opressing the Kurds, but stand idly by whilst Israel defies every UN resolution it can, or the Saudis keep on with their terrible humna rights abuses etc.
The argument that we should get rid of him in case he does something is like saying we'll arrest people who mihgt do burgalries.
I'm not saying that he should not be got rid of, but it is a difficult issue to deal with. The problems faced by the US will not disappear simply because he is gone. They will still be despised by the Arab worl and will just face attack after attack until they change their foreign policy. Unfortunately, we will probably get dragged down with them.
However, war always stimulates the economy, so that would be agood thing![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

All i will say is i have lots of American cousins/aunts/uncles etc and from my experience Americans have a very insular view of the world.
I'd feel a lot more comfortable if there was a cohesive European solution to the "Iraq" problem

On a serious note, don't believe the Propaganda. I think the whole situation is going to get messy.
If you take out Saddam you need to remove most of his family and associates as it is alledged that his off spring are just as loopy as he is. But doesn't this become genocide? Not sure.
Ho hum....
