Maybe he was running the Turbo's in.....

forgot to say, you definetly want PPP on the STI 7 to have a decent power2weight ratio...
has anyone got the bhp & weight & power2weight details out of interest on a standard STI 7 ??

I can't understand Subaru's aim with the STI 7, I mean why not give it at least power to weight ratio of 280 bhp import scoob (prob need 320 bhp), escpecially when competing with the EVO
Appreciate the cost for a PPP involved & obviously if it's new & under warranty etc....looks like it's October anyway before it arrives according to another thread.
Glad you took it the way it was meant, it pi$$es me off slightly that the "bug eye" era has a lot to answer for, I mean 17 seconds to 100 for a UK impreza is sh1te IMO no wonder we have TDI's & GTI's challenging all the fooken time.

Have hands on experience as to what the RS4 is capable of on an Autobahn against my standard STi7 with 6000 miles on the clock. Pulled up for a p1ss and pulling back onto the Autobahn near Stuttgart I was behind the Audi and had no idea what I was in for. Kept up no probs in 2-3 and suspect thats when he looked in the mirror and saw me. Made me decide to race lorries from then on to help my bruised ego....

agreed the RS4 is very fast, problem is with threads like this, unless you know the driver of that particular car, you will never know if it has been modded etc.
So when we all say we have kept up with/beaten etc.....you get the picture. That's why my replies are a bit tounge-in-cheek because there will always be a guy who says "get on the track then" that's where the real driving gets done.
Still it gives us a rough idea I suppose of what to expect from other motors.

Having owned a P1 and an RS4, take both cars and drivers of equal ability and the RS4 is in no doubt the faster car, but in an £ for £ equation the P1 is better. That said the build quality, paint, interior etc is miles ahead in the RS4. .................

In fifth all the way around Bedford, I doubt that!!
I certainly used a range of gears, probably topping out at 125 mph ??
Was pleased with my car though
Cheers Phill C
PS Chins where are you

Well, I'm just telling you what happened when I met an RS4 on a track last year!! Maybe I imagined in, but I think not
Surely these thing weigh a fair bit more than a Scooby so the power to weight ratio is closer than we might think ?
Cheers Phill C
PS I'm sure on a motorway then the RS4 would make me look silly, but less than 125 mph, I don't think they're quick

Scoob keeping up with an RS4=== DREAM DREAM DREAM.
I think you lot should wake up and smell that coffee.
Still £ for £ I guess the scoob wins there.

Soem people are seduced by bhp . An HGV has loads of bhp and torque but you wouldnt say they were blindingly quick .
An RS4 has about 15bhp/ton more than my classic RA (both in standard trim) but the RA has a close ratio sports box on top. If was expecting I huge leap forward in performance terms I maybe a tad disappointed and a lot lighter in the wallet .

Babber/Trout
Not going to bite too much on this one
The RS4 at Bedford was Merlin Purple. In my ride with Trout it stayed the same distance away which against Trouts modded STI I thought was damn impresive.
Thing is its down to driver ability and mods. The RS4 is not built for the track in std form. The std suspension is crap. Most owners swich their RS4 to Audi GMBH suspension. An RS4 will never win the most chuckable car award though.
In day to day driving the RS4 pisses all over a Scooby I'm afraid. Huge low down torque, low lag in the high gears combined with a great interior, lights, stereo etc. But it costs loads more and should win. A scooby should be compared to an S3 not an RS4.
For sheer grunt and accleration no STI or P1 can match an RS4. Its an engine to die for.
The Scooby might bring a bigger smile to your face, let you enjoy hard acceleration at legal speeds though and if its Chrisps RA, then you can enjoy its top speed of 80mph due to the gearing
Jonathan
Suprisingly driving an RS4 for the next few weeks
