Loddrik2 I'm a Scoob driver and have driven the S3 which wasn't for me but I appreciate your views. I don't see why people are do defensive of their Scoobs. Its not like you've called them ****e or made any insults to the drivers so don't worry .
Glad to have someone post some views which are not overly critical but tell the truth.
The S3 I drove felt a bit wooden and wasn't as quick but the interior made the Subaru 's look like the inside of a packet of cornflakes. 2 good quick cars but with slightly different priorties.

I must admit even though I enjoy reading Scoobynet some people on here have such dissapointing attitudes!
I own an S3 but love Scoobys also. Now having people say that the S3 is crap, with a terrible chassis etc is not a proper post that is objective in any way!
People who know anything about the performance of these cars will know that for acceleration and cornering the S3 and UK Turbo are very, very close in ability. I believe that the Scoob is a better drivers car but as standard I don't think it is more effective.
Why do half of you have to say that other cars are crap because they are not Suburu's?
Anyway, sorry to the people who have something to say that is worth reading! Every few months this subject raises its head and I have to get that off my chest!

Well I have an Integra Type-R, not a P1, and dont like P1's all that much to be honest, nice cars, quick, blah blah blah, but dont stir my soul at all.
What I was getting at, is that if you modify an S3 to those extents, a stock P1 wont feel like that much of a stretch from what you currently have.
I recon thou the P1 would still be a good buy, and deserves the press its recieved, and I bet if the motoring press got hold of your car in its current spec, they'd call it pretty astounding too, must be awesomley quick, nice cars those S3's.
So, as you spent a lot of time and money to get your S3 to P1 level, imagine what you could do with the P1 with the same amount again!! You gonna go for it?

guys guys......
Can we all get a little perspective please....
Loddrick2 said that the motoring press called it "astounding...etc"
They are talking about "out of the box.... supercar rivalling performence" and that is what you get.....
There are very few cars that give the same "out of the box".
Now modded there are lots of cars that will rival the "supercars".
He stated that his Audi was modded...... but maybe his expectation of the P1 was too high.... or maybe he has become accustomed to the modded Audi, therefore the "out the box" P1 was almost the same to him.
Don't hang the guy for speaking the truth......
But Loddrick2, do you not think that if you had come from a "standard" Audi then you also would have thought "awesome....etc..."
Just all get what is written into perspective eh.
BTW I drive a (slightly modded) my00 scooby..... but i KNOW that other cars have the potential to be better......
The scoob is near the top of the food chain, but it is not the ultimate.

I agree with you and the last few posters have all talked sense, a shame it took 30 odd posts to get there. P1 one IS an awesome car, and I would like one. I would like to think that if I ever got one I could still remain objective about other marques, thanks boys.

Thats the point though most motoring press test standard cars and have to use them to compare.
You can tweak any car and make it better (or worse ). You may have been disappointed(/not as immpressed) but my guess you would see a bigger difference between a standard P1 and standard S3 driven back to back, than a standard P1 and an S3 thats had money spent on it to up the power and chassis changes. It shows to me the gap between an standard P1 and S3, you have closed by spending on the S3 which is fair enough.
Just a quick question do you noitce a big difference between your S3 and a standard S3, ie was it money well spent ?.
Cheers
Chris

Absolutely, standard S3 not that quick, pitches and rolls when braking and cornering. It is just a shame AUDI can't make them a bit better out of the box. Performance is a different league to standard S3.

My mate here at work has a modified S3 (just a chip)
He was dissapointed at the standard performance & I agree when I went out with him it didn't feel that quick.
After the chip (260bhp & 280lbs) it feels easily as quick as my STi4.
From the passenger seat I know I would struggle to put any real distance between him & me on any road in any weather.
Just needs to get the suspension sorted & he has a car that is just as quick, handles just as well & looks great.
Build quality is in a league that Scooby owners can only dream of & in metallic black it looks stunning.
He had an Elise 160 before & hasn't looked back.

In all fairness you cannot even compare the P1 and the Audi S3.Two completely different cars to be honest. The P1 is a road going rally car an the S3 is a very high quality refined family car.The S3 build quality will blow the P1 away but the handling and accelleration will probably outdo the S3.Try comparing the P1 to the evo and the S3 to the BMW 3 series.Lot fairer cpomparison. Both are top cars.

I was looking at an S3 whilst thinking about buying the Scoob. Took a V reg one for a test drive and wasnt that impressed. The car didnt feel that secure and the gearbox felt very notchy (only had 12k on the clock). I bought the Scoob cos its a bit more in your face, the flat 4 warble (soon to be amplified by a Blitz backbox) and the whole community (its neat to get waved at by other drivers). However I still have a soft spot for the S3 - those electric recaros in black leather and blue alcantara are to die for and easily the best interior Ive seen in a car (unless your talking silly money).
I spent a while on the Audi BBS and its very friendly and has a lot of knowledgeable people on it.
The S3 is probably still the only other car I would look at and Im still tempted to get one after the Scoob barring any major cosmetic changes that I dislike. The fact that you can add a chip for a little over £500 and get a 40+ bhp increase is also a plus.
Loddrik - a few quick questions:
1. What sort of mpg do you get on the S3?
2. Whats the servicing intervals like and how much do they cost roughly (as this months 30k scoob service is £450 which is taking the ****).
3. Is your 275bhp from a rolling road/dyno or an estimation?
Cheers,
Simon.
P.S. You got any pics?

Well from a scooby owners point of view the first page was embarrassing reading. A bloke comes on here and puts a perfectly reasonable post up and everybody treats him like he's just committed a crime...........thankfully the second page is balanced and makes some good points. That is what I would expect from Scoobynet

Brothers!! SideShow Bob wishes!!
and I dunno STi, the first page was perhaps a little nasty, but its like who expects to be blown away by a car in comparison to their car that has more BHP and lb/ft?
The motoring press sure does build up expectations thou, but I do think a P1 deserves them, as does an S3 that puts out that kinda power.
Nice those S3's, the newest one, have you seen it in that silver/chromey colour?
