Yes I would fancy things against an M3 - to be pretty similar. AP22 measured 60-100 figures I have in a lower state of tune back this up. I await new dyno results, but I am expecting +55% over standard UK cars on the same rollers. That is about the difference between a 330 and an M3.

Some people do talk bollocks on here.

I own both a Scooby (STi V, 350bhp +) and a standard BMW 330Ci Sport...

BMW Steering response is excellent compared to a Scoob...

...also when I ran the 330 at a RR day at PE 215ft/lbs of torque from 1,500 - 5,000rpm - so throttle response Scooby drivers can only dream of.

Reality - they are both superb cars to drive - but different. I enjoy them both.

'TROUT'u mentioned bollocks how many scoobs out there only have 22o bhp 225 torque lets be realistic most do atleast 250-260 bhp and torque, and weigh far less. power to weight ratios and that.figures from evo magazine quote 0-100 in 17 for bm and 14 for mildly tuned still warantied prodrive. as for bikes how many of them like to move over when there strugling to make a bend at ***mph and dont like it when u r glued to there back tyre and still have more to offer.

I still believe all these 'Scoob vs xyz' threads are pointless. Unless you are on a deserted open road at night and can see for miles with no houses, side roads etc (like that ever happens!) - it is purely down to how much each driver is prepared to risk their license/car/insurance/life/someone elses life...

It will never be a true measure of which car is quicker/better handling etc. The only place you could truly test it would be a track and that still comes down to driver ability.

I was shopping at Milton Keynes today and in the side roads to the carparks saw one very near miss (left hand lane, very slow - oh, let's turn right!) and the result of one collision - probably the same thing but a very totalled Mondeo taxi and a Volvo S40 with the front and the side stuffed in. If this can happen on a slow piece of road, consider what will happen when 'racing' a 330i or similar at 130mph...

My sti2 absolutely creams 330i's, im running at 297 bhp. A new m3 tried to leave me on dual carriageway, he failed, i was right there with him !! Im having a front mounted intercooler which should add another 20bhp! 340 bhp is my target. Then its goodbye.

Question

If 330csi is so hot why dont wee ever see any at the track days at knockhill only one M3 ever and its nothing special on the straights.guess they have good cruising ability cos they r smoother and quieter but they r not as well geared in top only 75mph at 3000rpm?? compared with 79.5mph uk spec subaru.

No offence to scooby users but basically you are all in the affordable performance bracket. These guys in new M3's etc could probably stretch to porsches etc but prefer BMW's finest.

Chances are he may have not got round to taking the limmiter off the ecu chip which would mean his car is good for 181 mph.

Er not very quick. I had a duel with one in my Twin Turbo Legacy and beat him off the lights easy... and i had the wife, two windsurfers on the roof, 4 sails, 2 booms..... etc, etc. You should have seen the look on his face. Car had just been de-cated at RC Developments, nice one Clive.

Had a play with a 330Ci a while ago. I can only describe the manner in which he was repeatedly passed as comfortable. He was prepared to go at silly speeds to the next roundabout, but I still creamed him on every exit. Had to keep backing off due to getting in the stone chip zone.

I suppose you expect this sort of outcome when you come to play with an STI 7 UK...........hohum.
