Just found a fully loaded X Type 3litre sport with 8000 miles for £25K
Anyone had a go in one of these???
I know MarkO replaced his STi IV Type R with a 3.0 X-Type. Have a look at the X-Type Forums if you are interested.

Ian

The Evo 7 is pretty nice inside methinks.Plain ok but a big step up from the 5 and 6.Seriously seriously hard to fuel though.

This "build quality" malarkey ... why is it that the Brits are so enamoured with the Bavarian Sierras (what, RHD ones not built in Bavaria after all ... where then? ).

This Jap v Jerry v Brit build quality thing has assumed myth proportions in recent years. Build quality ... superior .... poppycock ... check out the web sites for these various marques yourself if you dont believe me. Plenty of build quality aches and pains there ... and expensive too ... ouch .... :-(

Had a ride in a Colleague's new 3-series recently (I did so to show him directions in an area new to him ... P). If I'd covered the steering wheel boss I'd have sworn I was in a Ford ...and not a particularly modern one .... so much plastic and yes the odd squeak, rattle and not all that comfortable. Nice looking car. Goes OK. But, nothing special surely? ... and they're as common as muck round my way .... not for me then.

So, what would I spend my 30k on .... I dunno .... I really dont ... too much to chose from and all of a muchness with little individuality ...... )

I`m ferked if I know
I drove a super tricked up Arden suped up 3 litre X Type today.
It looked nice in black......big wheels......big exhausts etc.
But to drive....well.....just......well??
I have been so spoiled recently I reckon on buying the cheapest piece of **** I can and with all the money I will save very month opening up a brothel full of |Russian ****** and Lithuanin babes???
The problem is that there is nothing that gets my juices flowing with four wheels??? Babes however....
Found a couple of STI`s with thanks to Rumster but they are used and nearly full list. It is the only car that I think will make me smile every day but they are still a lot of dosh for what you actually get. This Jag today is nearly new and monted up on extras and £29K???
I reckon I might even get an Accord Type R and save a lot of dosh????
Firked If I know really

Arron

Although it will get slated on here, I like the S3. Ive had two of them. Dont expect it to match an STI7 or M3 in the drivers car stakes, but remap it and it will go well.

As for the kids, I had no problem with kids the same age. The Recaros do rob the rear space a bit though. A pain if your putting them in it everyday, but if its just weekend its fine IMHO.

Arron from another Arran

Had the Carrera 4, nice, fast, sharp, exphensive when it goes wrong.
TT is quick but I have to say build quality poor.
S3, nope

If you want to spend £30kish, you might want to hunt down a Brabus Merc. I believe there are some CLK Brabus going for arounf £35kish with a few miles on the clock. No 4 wheel, but shed loads of raw power, straight line not much can keep with them (maclaren excepted).
I have an STi7 to reclaim my youth at the moment. Handles better than the porsche, is SO much more exciting than the M3 Cab' I had. I went for the Smart Nav Sat Nav system. No box (behind dash), one small button and always correct (no update necessary). Cheaper than any other option, and can book flowers, theatre tickets etc!!!!
My STi7 has 3600 miles now, and unbelievably is getting better. Pound for pound I banked my money and got a car which was cheaper than normal and BIG Grins always! If you can get one, and I saw an STi7 Prodrive on Scoobynet for £19995 with about 4k on the clock (mint). Put aside your 2400 for the PPP, get a smartnav for £900, a GroupN exhaust (not too loud, missus likes it)but good under throttle.
£19995+£2400+£400+£900=£23695-----
£6305 Banked or by the missus something-18"alloys maybe
