Maybe in France - otherwise I'll be there.... I'll give you a ring tomorrow - I'm too pissed this evening and the girlfriend is well hacked off that I'm on the net.... (plus Roger Clark Motorsport maybe playing with it - an excellent tuning company in Leicester)
Now 600nhp in a Skyline that would bee nice - I've driven lower powered Skylines and yes they were good, and yes the top speed was nice but I was not prepared to swap... + money.. not worth it
We have a Honda Civic Type R at the moment - dont touch them very dangerous in the wet - maybe the new Integra is much better - like the sound of the lightweight Lichfield M'sport car - maybe after x-mas - I spend too much on cars - over in the states soon - am gonna check out the 280ps car - you cant get the sti yet in the US(well I aint seen one and the Subaru dealer dont know anbout them) - but Mitsubushin are well ahead - get on a lease by the company!! (yep I work in the States too often!)
Thought I'd try the Ryan Air deal but its a con - I've been trying for about 2 hrs for a deal but only come across one a 1p..... perhaps I'm too late?

i think you lot should check out whats happening in evo land a bit more often!
400bhp for 20k??? do behave! i got 298bhp at the wheels at gforce....for around 5k!
the skyline is the emperors new clothes at the moment do you think all skylines are like rocket ronnies??? LMFAO!
for everyday, road useable power and handling ,IMHO there is only ONE car that does it all so well.....the evo.
it is getting better and cheaper by the day to sort an evo4-6. look at the xtreme stroker conversion. 4.8k plus vat, for 400 ft/lbs torque!
you pays yer money etc, but look what prodrive offer you...2k for an extra 20bhp or so....ha ha ha ha!
c'mon guys, i'm not trying to have a go at anyone, just trying to show that there is an alternative to expensive to tune scoobys
the scooby sounds lovely....till no 3 piston lets go
www.lancerregister.com ...go on, you know you want to

Never a truer word Spud.
Mr Mcullock, do you always have to do everything soooo fast? I have read your posts on here for the past 18 months going on and on about how much faster your motor is (whichever it maybe).
Dude you need to slow down, bet yer wifes pissed.

Oiy, cossie and nova owners read this thread!!! See - friendly banter back and forth no arguing and no *****. These two cars are total and utter rivals yet no hostility!! Oh, that's right, cause most people that drive evo's and scoobs are civil!!
<rant mode off>
p.s. Evo's suck

scoobykev, HTF can you say that the evo is a better car full stop. there are lots of variants of both mota's with lots of sensible, reliable modifications. you cant compare a 93UK turbo with a zero fighter just like you cant compare an early lancer with a type RA.
crypt, are you going to the northern meet next week? it would be good to look round an evo either at the meet or otherwise.

oy McCulloch,
whose 400bhp car are you going to borrow to show this guy what a 400bhp car feels like?
crypt and spudgun,
personally tend to agree that the evo is better, but dont kid yourself into believing that 400lbft is plausible for the money you are talking.
It simply isnt true.
if you arent convinced, ring mark sheed who swears by evos and ask him how much he is spending on his engine to get a true 400lbft and 400bhp, instead of bullsh1t rolling road claims that a lot of companies put together.
There is much more to serious power conversions than engine hardware, and most people just asusme you can put it together and up the boost. It simply isnt true. you need to conisder, injectors, fuel pumps, fuel rails, fprs, ecus, wide band lambda controls, clutches, flywheels (especially on evos) gearboxes (also especially on evos), engine mounts, transmission mounts, oil coolers, head bolts or studs, gasket material, compression ratios, piston coatings, turbos, headers, downpipes, wastegates air injectors etc etc. the list is endless if you want to do it properly.
You need intelligence to do it reliably and safely. You also need an engine dyno, to get a true indication of power.

since when is MAD the be all and end all of evo tuning? thats why RC tune my car. 387bhp on a warm evening, no tricks, no funny business, for around 6k. that includes a lot of the parts you have listed.
as with all tuning, there are many different ways to get the end result. with skylines for example, some use the standard pistons for 500bhp, whereas i had forged pistons. it depends who you feel comfortable with and what you want the car for(track or road)
i have RC stage 3 at the moment, using power fc. shortly, i will be having a stroker kit done, followed early next year by 25g kit.
i will then have a car that will crucify most things on the road, including 400bhp scoobys
rc stage 3 is around 6k
stroker kit is around 5k or less (stage 3 already gives you a lot of the required bits)
25g kit is around 6k , give or take.
this will then take you near to the norris car (ok maybe not as much but then i dont want to spend 30k on the engine )
on a skyline, 17k gets 550bhp (safe and reliable 550bhp)
how much will 17k on a scooby get you? look at scott davies old car.

My 280bhp is too quick for the road anyway, are you tellign me u can drive your car 100% flat out on the road . 400bhp is only useful if you want to track it. I dont want to thrash my car on a track so why would I want to endanger the life of my engine and bank balance by upping to 400bhp, pointless .

too much is NEVER enough!
edited to say, if 400bhp is too much, then why do audi make an rs4? bmw an m5 etc etc etc
like i say, too much is never enough, for me anyway

I can show you exactly what 17k gets you on a scooby, but offline only.
I like rc, have spoken much with jennie and clive.
great people and fantastic prices.
Have to say I havent seen their work, but clive seemed to know his stuff, bearing in mind imprezas arent his bread and butter work.
w\s only a little dissapointed to not see them displaying a car at elvington. Didnt go myself, but was looking forward to reports from those who did.

Shame the RC Development cars never seem to achieve their potential at Well Lane - I think at the last session one was detting very badly....
I'd love the 400bhp one they reckon they can do for the money on the Scooby....who knows, perhaps theres a cheaper route to power than the bits I have...
Adam M - so you dont believe me then?.... you'll just have to wait and see.....

ahhh steve,
isnt yours the car that gets great figures up north, star or well lane is it? then comes to pe (famous for being generous) and then gets 315???
correct me if this didnt happen.
If it is a true 400 (which I will never concede to unless its dont on an engine dyno) then I presume you have had a lot more stuff done.
If it makes the power or not, I will be interested to see what path you chose to try to get 400.

Mail me offline
Star - thats way up North - never used it
I have also had much better figures at Powerstation
Part of the 315bhp was the clutch that was changed 2 weeks later - yep, excuses, excuses

I have never owned a scooby but I have an EVO6 GSR.I can say that off boost the car pulls very well and the rush starts slowly coming in from around 2K and the big thump comes in arouns 3K.It is a surprisingly torquey engine for a blown turbo lump.I think this is where the evo 6 scores over all suburu's.Although the performance of the P1 and 22B and evo6 are pretty much identical the evo 6's lump is quite a bit more flexible and off boost will pull better than the suburus.I am in no way putting down scoobys as they are quality cars and the P1/22B are pretty much as quick as an evo6 in a straightline.
At the end of the day it is what you want and I think the evo6 looks as hard as F**K and is what I'm after. But someone else might hate the evo.It is a car you either love or hate as there are no inbetweens with this car.
As far as reliability is concerned, keep them standard and they are as reliable as anything on the road.I investigated evo6's for 6 months before I bought one and found no real major known faults apart from the usual nigly faults that all cars experience. But the only thing is that when you whack up the boost you do run the risk of problems.Even though the evo engine can handle light modifications upto 330BHP after this you do run the gauntlet of suffering unreliability and increased wear and tear.
I personally love the evo6 and I would not want any other car at the moment including skylines. It just does everything so well.
At the end of the day you either love them or hate them but you cannot ignore them!!!!!
Toad.

I've had my Evo for over a year now and have been running 1.6-1.7bar for over 10k miles without a problem (reaching for a piece of wood).
Scoobies have been tried and tested to destruction so much more than the Evo as there are a lot more about. When I first got my Evo, very few people would take a standard engine and run more than 1.4bar held due to reliability. Now people have even started running 1.8-2bar on standard pistons and rods, so no doubt we'll soon find out just how strong they are.
The fact is they all break after a certain limit has been passed, but the Evo engine is generally stronger than the Subaru. Every tuner will say the same!
I too used to have a Scoob and for me it was the next step up. I don't use the car everyday, so practicality wasn't my main importance. The main thing was wanting to go as fast as possible!
After all no subarus went by me on the SIDC National day at Dono, apart from on a cool down lap!

toad, some good points there but you should include the STi's with the P1's in your performance analogy. they both come standard with the same power and apart from a few external tweeks its basically the same car.
evo roscoe, can i assume your scoob was a UK Turbo. if it was then you took a step up. if you had owned my scoob i think you'll find as someone else put in this thread, it would have been as step sideways. think about the power, weight and gearing.
after all. you could say the twin engined 5TGTurbo that gets to 60 in 3.1 secs is more extreme than a maclaren F1 but are 5GTT's more extreme than F1's. no, it just depends on how far you want to go.

LOL nobody ever gets overtaken on track days it always on a slow down lap I thought that was track days rules .
The whole thread just seems to me that it just proves that EVOs arent the perfect machines they appear to be straight out of the box. From their owners description as it looks like £6K is chucked at them to beef up the power. They are more expensive to insure to start off with so I am sure they wont get cheaper to insure with £6K worth of engine mods .
A bit unfair to tell people to buy one and then find they need to spend £6K upgrading it to go faster than a scoob LOL.
