Good god there's some egos here, aren't there? "My wallet's bigger than yours therefore I'm better than you". No names mentioned, but some of you could re-read your posts to see what impression you're giving out

Anyhow, Mr B, good to see you're back.

I propose a sweepstake on how long it'll be before the first "crap paintwork", "what is it with subaru's interiors", "When's the PPP due?"

I think this time you know full well what you're expecting, and, being fair, the new STI is so much better put together than the P1 IMHO

Well, that's pretty incendary! (Flame suit on)

Nick.

I dunno Arron, going from a classy bimmer to a max-muppet car.. It wouldn't be so bad if you hadn't had one before and didn't know what they were like !

Cool

Hi Arron,
just wanted to ask how does someone decides between an EVO VII (or the coming VIII) and an STI?
here in Israel we only have the STI so its not hard.
and how do you compare the STI (bare in mind it wiil have more power than the UK one) to the M3, only driving (not build qaulity, paint job etc.)?

Jacey Boy,

not all of israel is like that. Its not like bosnia with constant gun fights.

Eilat which has seen little or no violence is like las vegas!

Arron,

did you consider perhaps waiting for the next version? since the official release is next week at the paris motorshow, is it not worth waiting to see if you prefer it. Had it been years away I would agree with you, but it isnt, and its release could seriously affect your resale price. You may be happy with the bugeye, but the majority of the public wont be as they dont force themselves to get used to it through exposure like the fans on here.

Cost of motoring seems to be very important to you, so perhaps you would be better off by waiting in order to potentially minimise depreciation.

you also need to consider that by facelifting the model so soon, subaru are admitting their mistake, which again looks bad in terms of public perception and hence depreciation.

What you see over the TV isn't even close to real life in Israel.
Its like when London was bombd by the IRA (well a bit more), life carried on as usual and it didn't effect the way English people lived.
Here is the Israeli Impreza club site:
www.sti.org.il STI for Subaru Turbo Israel...
and here are some pictures of my trips (mine is the GT, the STI and WRX are loaners from Subaru Israel):

Don't need to I own an Impreza.
it sure isn't like London,
we have security personal in every restaurant, mall (check your bags and car).
but still I never witnessed a bomb or even shootings (only in the reserves when I saw a family of settlers getting killed by a Palestinian, I even used my gun...but that has nothing to do with Imprezas).

In order to get a gun permit (and its only for a hand gun) you need to prove you're work or live in the occupied territories, or if you got it as an officer in the army.
All citizens who join the army and serve as combat soldiers (army is mandatory - 3years) get a gun, either a Galil (used in the tanks like me) or M-16s used by infentry.

Oh right, I think it is a good idea to at least carry a 9mm with you, I know there are plenty of people in England who would not agree but as things are going on here right now and getting worse by the day you need to be able to protect yourself

But in Israel we don't have carjacking or robbery in the street, its very safe to walk in Tel Aviv at night.
it not that Israel is perfect but its pretty safe in that way.
and I think if people carry guns it could become like the wild west, and I don't trust people (even without criminal record_ to be sensible enough not to use it when raged, and it will take the power out of the police's hands, think of a policeman dealing with a raged husband carrying a weapon...

True, our crime is getting much worse though and Knives and guns are being used, only the criminals have guns, so we need to be on par with them!

I can understand that in your country you dont have muggings and others, but we do, I would not want to walk in London late at night thats for sure!

Neil, good comment! not before time. I am sure that people get sick and tired of reading comments about "my car is better than yours etc". Friendly banter is one thing but IMO readers of threads such as this are generally enthusiasts and (love?) their choice of motor. The constant slagging off between makes/models etc i.e. Cossie v Scoob, Classic v New Age is a pain in the ****. The last people want to read is a person slagging off their hard earned pride and joy. I wanted a Scoob and could not find one to my liking (used) so I saved for a while longer and purchased a new one from Belgium. the total time I had to wait to own a Scoob was in the region of 14 months. Then what do you read, constant slagging of the "new age" shape. O.K. not perhaps to everyones taste, but the last thing I want ramming down my throat. People buy a car of their choice, it might not be yours, so why not accept that and decline from critising them and their choice of motor. Now down from the soapbox!

How can I get me a real desert eagle 50?

I want a gun that blows my own arm off when I shoot it at someone else.

Elondan,

its nice to see some pics prtraying israel the way I know it.

Have been there over 20 times and never witnessed anything like what we see on tv over here. It is very select what the media portrays. Have been searched when trying to get on to the beach though.

To me the level of security brings confidence, but it is disconserting sitting on a bus and having a stunning girl (off duty soldiers have to carry their guns everywhere) sitting next you with her M16 digging into your hip!

apart fro security searches, and customs you can walk around every part of israel that a tourist would walk around in the same way you can london or any part of Great Britain.

Seen the new one in Autocar and it doesnt look much different to me so no I wont bother waiting. The interior will probably be like a Beemer tho and that will really pi55 me off
I am looking forward to my GOLD 18" leery wheels and the PPP will I reckon make it a little more excitig....oh and I am seriously thinking about a lowering spring upgrade aswell.Anyone done this and whats it like. Failing that its a full set of Leeda adjusteable bull5hit.
David I know what your saying mate but I want to spend my hard earn`d on other things like ho`s and stuff and to be honest I want to have a bit of "cheaper" fun.
OK doing track days in M3`s as I know but you are forever worrying about what is not covered under the warranty whereas Subaru dealers dont seem to give a rats ****.
So its nearly new for me with PPP lowering springs (good ones that dont spoil the slow speed familly bull5hit) and a set of 18`s.
Oh and probably a few stereo upgrades.
Finito.

Aaron have you managed to get a brand new one ( prodrive )???
I tried about a month ago and was told Mar 03.
Where did you get it from. I tried 3 dealers.
I am a bit annoyed with my dealer now cause they said no chance, but you have found one 4 weeks later.
Still I did get a used one and saved a bit of money but thats not the point.

arron,

please dont rush in and buy a car throu8gh lack of patience, have a look at the my03 in detail, it wont hurt. You have nothing to lose, and it least that way you wont be kicking yourself later.

Plus consider that teh market will be flooded with lots of people wanting to ahve the latest thing.

You know the types who fooled themselves into thinking it had grown on them, but would secretly jump ship if something much better looking came along, which it clearly has!
