MY03 Autoexpress Photos!

Does anyone "design" these cars or is it just some dumb computer that randomly generates possible shapes for an accountant to sign off?!
I would be interested to hear Josh's view but as an amateur photographer and someone whose into art, IMHO that frontend doesn't look right... I guess for those into out and out performance, looks aren't that important, but for me they do count. The MY00 had an aggressive style that fitted the car's image. The bug-eyed monster as my girlfriend used to call it was IMHO a mess and this latest incarnation is no better.
Hopefully tomorrow I will wake up to find this was just a bad dream...

Not convinced. Just got my MY02 today and I don't feel that i'm missing anything at all...the new front lights are bit too 'legacy and forester' not different enough - why they just didn't adopt the morettes as standard i don't know, they look so good!!! and you can fit xenon bulbs to make them so bright. Not convinced about front bumper either. Nope. It's not a good revision IMO.

Reply to Bumcrack - Sti thought to remain the same BHP wise, so unlikely to be faster, WRX goes up from 218 to 225 bhp so likely to be only very slightly quicker.

have to say that i back merlin up, neither bug eye or '03 shape (alledgelly)compare i suppose to the classic.
great motor cars for sure, bvut where is the design flair?
you have that sort of set-up, chassis, power etc, why not do something more?

lol, they finally made something that makes the bug eye look good!
That scoop is a freak of nature.
Best looking impreza ever was the MY00 in my opinion. They had evolved the original shape into a good looking car before the bug eye landed and now this!

Agree totally with stephen30,
Okay, now the car looks allright, they need to do something about the other big issue with the MY2001 cars... Weight.
The jump from ~1250kgs to ~1500kgs (sti) is a fair bit of FAT to cart around... How about something with VVT that weights 700kgs for next year?

I seem to be in the minority in thinking that this is a big improvement on the bug-eye!! Anyhow, I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it in the flesh. Agree about the STi scoop being a bit OTT though
[Waiting for Dave Two-Subarus to take back his comments about them not changing any body panels because the re-tooling costs would be prohibitive ]
Now we just need to get back to the same power/weight ratio as I have in my PPP MY00 and I'll think about trading up

The only people who like the bug-eye is the people who have them. The new car is to fat and lardy and needs to get rid of some weight fast.
WEIGHT IS THE NEMSIS OF A SPORTS CAR.
Shape up or ship out fatty.
See ya
