I like the word most . I didnt realize that a new M3 has exactly the same power to weight as an STi. Thats assuming the STi is only 276 bhp which we all know is more like 295 bhp .

Nice interior but isnt it difficult to drive from the driver seat

cheers

It looks quite nice with those big chromium type wheels, is it a 'GTI' version of the 3 series?

Maybe in the wet 4wd will have the edge, but remember the M3 has DSC which helps with traction so you are not going to lose much to 4wd.

I agree about the quality though, but spending that much on a car must mean you lose a lot on depreciation.

I have actually been offered between £4-£5K profit for mine when I get it in April next year, but I'm not selling it, I want to keep it

Still, if I DID have that much money I'd rather save a bit more and try and get an M5. Much classier. I have to say I've never been impressed by the standard 3 series, but quite like the 5.
No. Actually, I'd just save the money for a Skyline.

A UK skyline is an awesome car, I've driven Steve's quite quickly and I was very impressed, but when you have modded it slightly the cost of the car becomes £60K, now that is 911 or Ferrari money and is £20K dearer than the M3

Edited as I screwed up with the reply with quote, but you can read into my reply. Sorry

Andy

Very nice, carbon black is the color to have.

If I was ever to go for the M3 then it would be in this color but with SMG, cos it's my kinda thing.

To be honest though, I'd love an M5 with SMG, now that would be fun!

Rum car is up for October production so should be late October or early November.
I personally think that a lot of STI or P1 guys will go for M3`s. They are not the lardy arsed thing that some seem to think they are. Believe me it`s b1oody quick and handle really neutrally plus of course my old faithfull rear wheel drive
I am not interested in the SMG as I like changing gear to mauch
For now I`ll just have to keep driving the P1 as it`s still unsold.
So if anyone wants it

Aaron - looks the absolute dogs danglies and even better in the flesh - has to be only of the best saloon car designs around.

Fair enough Arron, Glad you went for a special colour. This deep purpple thing sounds really nice actually.

I stand by my original reasons for not wanting one though. In terms of tunability, you cant do anything without paing hartge another 30k for a V8, so it doesnt suit my needs as someone who likes to tinker. In that departemnt the obvious choice would be a skyline for similar money.

BMW have stated that the negine is at its limit too, the reason they held back production was due to its reliability.

The other problem I have is, living in north london, every other car I see will be an M3. I saw three M3 convertibles this morning on a five mile journey to work, and I thought they were hardly even out yet.

I know the impreza is almost common, but the BMW will be a common or garden sight. This doesnt stop it from being an awesome machine though .

The thing I dont understand, is why you are asking the opinion of us? the people you regularly slag off for driving a car that you admit to hating. We clearly love what you hate, so do you have any respect for our opinion? doesn't make any sense to me

Adam,

I always thought you were a tinker. Or was it a w...........

Arron - does look "quite" nice - prefer the silver or titanium myself - not quite as subtle (maybe I can't quite get away from the "hey look at the size of my spoiler/exhaust/wheels" etc attitude )

Not keen on those wheels though - reckon it'd look much nicer with a set of AC Schnitzer 19s......

Can't wait for you to get it on track

Well this hairdresser also happens to own a spanking new UK Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-spec ..

Does that mean they're hairdressers cars?

GaryC, It was Mr Hoffman who mentioned depreciation.

I have already been offered a £4-£5K profit on the car when I get my M3 next April, but I will be keeping it and not selling, it will look good parked next to my E30 M3 Sport Evolution

Excellent!, another "all BMW's are driven by ****'s" thread...
Arron/Paulmon and Andrew-I commend you on your car and colour choice..probably as it's the same as mine..!
Mine's due in May '02 and will be an SMG car as I can't can't get round the offset driving position plus I love the sound/concept of this F1 derived technology.
Are you all going for UK car's (as mine) or are they imports?
E-mail me off line if you're interested in comparing notes on spec/dealer issues/2002 price increase etc.
Now where did I leave that "Scooby owners shooting bolts of lightening flame resistant suit....."
Gareth.
P.S It's a fab car, try one you might actually like it...

Gareth,
Nice comment, not sure about the **** quote though, not all Scooby lovers are BMW haters as I'm sure the previous posts demonstrate.

Personally I like Beemers but give me a UK Spec R34 Skyline anyday though, rare-ish car for the playstation generation and 4 seats !! Had a race tuned R33 V Spec for a short while 450bhp plus (import) and it was driveable but the one thing that I noticed when I drove it was the great sense of respect / acknowledgement from the Scooby drivers. Each to there own.

Your'e right

It doesn't look the bollox.

Sorry, but I see tons of Bob Marleys that look a lot like that. BMW simply haven't done enough to differentiate the car from all the 316's etc.

Horses for courses though and I'm sure you'll like it.

If I see you around MK, we'll have a burn up

Now now Mr Data I am suprised at you.
Read the earlier replies.
How many WIDE TRACK BONNET SCOOPED FOUR EXHAUST FATFACK 316i`s have you seen?
It is more muscle than plastic.
Got sort of a beefed up look.
Totallt different to a Subaru that`s had an arguement with a Halfords front window or even had all the bits at Prodrive thrown on it
Baits out and I just keep on catchin.
I reckon on 100 posts on this one

Thumbs up

youre one nearer aaron, keep it going

so, whose going from scooby to m3? and why?
i'm not. i cant justify a 40k car, and only do approx 4k miles a year at most.if i did do big mileage, say for work purposes, then i would have kept the 330, it was a delight to own. if i were a rep, the m3 would be nirvana
unbelievably, i'm still happy with my current car, its been over a month now
do you ever see a time you'll go back to scoobys aaron, or is that it?
