MY96 WRX wagon, why didn't I buy a new one? well apart from the X5 the VFR800, the KTM 250 and XR250...

I bought it becuse I love the old shape (its a classic after all), it was a wagon and lastly it has more BHP as standard then a new one??? I bought it becuase I like to drive fast cars that handle well and for the money why pay more for a less powerful one that will depreciate faster.....

oh and the free baseball cap and eminem cd swung me in the end...

max power anyone??

This one is to ipitt (i think thats his name) ... you cant have a go for people who have cars bought for them (before anyone says anything i have paid for my cars)

If you're parents bought you a subaru or whatever car you aspired to have when you were young , i think you and everyone on this board would have jumped at the chance.

Dont have a go at people for being successful.

I hope I was able to amuse all of you with the staement on the top of this page

Seriously, the cheaper the cars get, the younger the people who can afford them. That's an economic fact. Just look at Cossies.

But that does obviously not say anything about the like of our 44 year old biker friend who bought a "cheap" scooby for fun.

Enjoying this 'debate'.

It seems that many of the opinions expressed here are motivated by individuals who associate too much social credibility according to the car driven.

Put bluntly if you can't stand the rising association of the Impreza with younger 'less desirable' drivers then go buy a BMW. (Or a Skoda as I did).

The developing situation with Imprezas was predictable from the moment the motoring press started eulogising the sars abilities. All desirable cars go this way (as said before re 205 gti) and it is part of why facelifts are made and production lines cease.

Do agree with the part about uninsured drivers. Something must be done about this.

Scunnered,I paid £8000 for my car,one owner FSSH 1995 5 door. This post was not meant to offend anyone apart from total *****.Of which you appear to be one by your lack of ability to view it laterally.I dont appreciate what i'm saying simply being dismissed as "rubbish".Too many people agree with me.I agree that it is a very small minority who damage our(not your) reputation but that happens accross the board in all walks of life. The small minority try and ruin it for the majority.Im just saying lets alienate these idiots and distance ourselves from them not defend them.

I'd rather distance myself from those who think the Impreza has some sort of social status, if it's all the same to you

Hint: it's a basic Japanese saloon car with a turbo bolted to it, not a hand built work of art.
