This is getting a bit too close to home!! I had a break-in attempt at my house for the car keys less that two weeks ago

Still - don't let the b4stards get you down, be careful, drive with your doors locked, and if the scum try it on - run the fuuckers over !!!!!

I hope that the guy who was shot recovers, both mentally and physically, and won't let low-life thugs stop him from doing whatever he wants in the future.

totally agree with all the sympathy 2 chap & lynch the scum who did it comments but 1 thing that strikes me is he has blackjack it wood seem yet sum1 points a gun at him asks 4 keys & he resists, obviously that's a bit of reading between the lines but fek that even without blackjack if sum1 pulls a piece out & wants me keys if i aint already heading at em @ 100mph (on a private test track) then they can have the ******. I luv my car but i luv my current no of oraphises even more so dont want any extras

Labour or no, it's taken government nearly 10 years to START toughening the sentences for mobile phone muggings.
All it would take would be a mandatory life sentence for car-jacking, and it would die a death. Where's the problem?
You guessed it. ***** New Labour ARE the problem, whether you like it or not.
The only good Labour politician is one who is deceased.

Very hard situation really...

Ultimately for what ever reasons, the police no not catch lots of these criminals quickly, and when they do they are not locked up long enough! Performance car drives end up feeling extremely victimised and that the system works against them even though they pay extra tax for a quick car (via Petrol, VED etc). And worse still people stealing cars usually get less punishment than people driving their own car too fast

So whats the solution, apparently it is to lock up people driving too fast in their own cars, and give small fines to people knicking cars and driving too fast in them

I think the tables should be turned a little!

Anyone know how we can create more social responsibility in society? I'll vote for you if you can!

this is probably a new labour tatic.

employing thieves to do these car jackings to scare people into not using cars.

as we all no how much they want us to reduce car usage and increase use of public transport

but on a more serious note i hope the guy is ok and recovers quickly.

he'll probably take a long time to get back into his car if he doesnt sell it.

Telling me no one here doesnt know someone who does this?????
Best thing would be for car group owners to arrange a car to be stolen...Catch the scum. Tie them to a post and burn them alive . Film it and set up a web site. 3 or 4 cases should have a impact on the situation. Dont worry about police.

I actually did my paper round many moons ago on that estate.

We had our house burgalled 4 times in 2 years.

Anyway the long and the short of it is, if they pull any weapon just give them the keys - let the RAC tracker + police sort it out.

For home security i keep the keys attached to my Irish wolf hound's collar, talk to the dog not me :P

Just to reassure ppl, out of 100 houses burgalled only 4 have dogs (Govt statistics), around 15 have alarms. I dont know of anyone having their keys removed from their house who has a decent dog. Thieves just dont bother.

Would you rather get a fine for illegally carrying a handgun or get shot for your car?

Didn't the government bring in a piece of legislation to restrict handguns on our streets some years ago? Another great job done!

Tracker, blackjax... where will it all end? Is there any country where cars can be driven in relative safety?

My WRX is still in the post, but I'm worrying already about someone trying to nick it...SAD.

I hate to say this, but I believe one day a member of this board will get shot for his car.

I am amazed to see so little reaction from this place; dont you guys care unless you know the guy in person? What if it had been Mellow or John? You would have shouted louder, then, you bunch of pussies.

Yes, there is. There are even countries where you can drive your car in absolute safety.

I wonder what would have happened if the hi-jacker's gun had jammed & the Scooby guy had managed to crack his skull open with something that he had to hand. What would the law do then ?

Claudius,
I am amazed to see so little reaction from this place; dont you guys care unless you know the guy in person?
...can't you read???

One or two quotes from earlier posts!

"Does anyone know if this guy is a scoobynetter?"

"Anybody know the guy? "

"Hope the guy gets better soon."

"Scary Indeed hope the blokes all right"

"hope this guy's alright."

"This really sucks, i hope this guy is OK."

"All I can do is wish the victim well, and hope he makes a speedy recovery."

"All I can do is wish the victim well, and hope he makes a speedy recovery."

"Wish the guy involved well."

"I hope that the guy who was shot recovers, both mentally and physically, and won't let low-life thugs stop him from doing whatever he wants in the future."

...so don't talk crap. Most people on this BBS really care, even though maybe nobody knows him.

*Hypothetical* - I DONT have blackjax...so lets say for sake of argument they get my keys after threatening me with a gun/knife/lead pie/ICBM etc....I'll bet the insurance company would refuse to pay out to replace/repair the car because I "gave them the keys" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone from an insurance company care to tell me if thats true? Bet you daren't!

Sorry to read about this. I hope the guy gets straight back in his motor and enjoys it, and can get on with normal everyday life.

This happened a few miles from my front door, on the same night a women in our village woke up to find a strange man at the bottom of her bed (allegedly)...

I work in security and hear of this all the time, it is on the increase and will continue to increase for a long time. My motto is this "why should I compromise my lifestyle i.e work hard and reap the benefits of doing so, because some low life **** wants for free what I work hard for" Buy, drive hard, enjoy, if thats what you strive for... Make your own desisions.

Before anybody puts 2 and 2 together, My sti is up for sale.. Not because of some half brained nobody, but because my circumstances have changed....

As somebody once said on this forum "RANT OVER"

Friday, 12:30 mid day, loads of people about.

2 mins walk away from my office two tw@ts stop a car on the main street. one n00ber gets out, smashes a parked jags rear window and pulls out the brief case. back in car and off they go, or try to.

n00ber nr one cant drive. gets reverse not 1st and nearly runs over one of my colleagues on his way back with sandwich (where story came from). if the tw@ts new the area they would realise that the street they were on gets chocker during the day and is very narrow so escape was hard.

also they were lucky that the owner is an old gent. the car was parked outside a shop and it belonged to the owner. he came out and chucked a big sale tub of knitting wool at them. needless to say this did not slow down their escape.

the irony is, and the reason us "good" guys can chalk one up is because the b/case contained nothing at all but for a bible!! how ironic is that

given thr traffic you would think the police could have a fair chance of catchin them. maybe if they had arrived in less than the 30 minutes it took it would help only 5 walking minutes from the station too.

anyway, i thought i would tell you that as no one hurt, but the outcome for the pond life was rather amusing

Boomer, I didnt mean it that way.

I find this type of reply useless. Of course, we are sorry to hear it and wish them a quick recovery.

MY POINT WAS: WHEN ARE YOU BUNCH OF PUSSIES GOING TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?

Let me tell you this: if a friend of mine gets shot, I will find the people who shot him (I can) and will shoot them myself; and I dont care what you pussies think about that.

Just carry on talking...

boot.I guess i talk for everyone on here when i say I Hope he makes a good and full recovery. i hope he can still drive the scoob.when he comes out(ie not sell it).

I understand about 1200 car jackings take place in the uk every year across all makes.(not that that helps when its one to one)
To answer a question above according to the mail insurers always pay up at car jackings.
they will baulk at paying out if you leave the engine running or keys in the ignition whlist you pop into the newsagents. told sainsbury even give you a 1000 pounds to help with the trauma
get well soon .

Please pass on my concerns BOOT and I wish the guy a speedy recovery..

Claudius,

My first reaction was that a number of us should get together and try and track down the scum organising and carrying out these car jackings.. and lay a trap, then reality check... they use guns in street situations and will be up for some sh1te (not enough IMHO but sh1te no less) from Police if caught as it is unlikely to be a first offence... so you waltzing in there like Jon Waine/Jacky Chan with a gun that you used for 'Sport', or Kartate moves done in a dojo is really going to help.. this is the real world... they eat this stuff for breakfast..
Obviously don't know the full details but I would guess the shot in the leg was not accidently in the leg... it was a delibarate brick wall to the owners attempts at keeping his car, but not a deliberate brick wall to his life (thank god), which too me says they were no amatures or messing around.

This is the real world Claduious.. the head line would read
"10 wannabe heros killed"

Wake up and smell the coffee..

JGM :annoyed:

I am sorry if I sound unsympathetic, but the guy who got shot really did behave in a very stupid manner. As you will all have read in the report, he resisted giving his keys over even though he had an anti-hijack system fitted. That is just plain stupid!

If you follow sensible precautions, a Scoobie or an Evo is no more dangerous to own than any other top car in the price bracket such as BMW, Audi etc. In fact, Audi TT's seem to be the most common target. I have looked into this and it seems that in every case of wounding/death the person has resisted. For heavens sake, its only a car. And it should be insured. Its not worth being killed for.
