As an owner of a "classic" STi5 type R I'm very impressed with those performance figures, even with a close ratio gearbox and weighing a measly 1260KG this only makes:
0-60 mph 4.3 secs
0-100 mph 11.9 secs
very very close to the new STi's
0-60 mph 4.66 secs
0-100 mph 12.38 secs
now I'm so tempted to change to a MY03

Yep agreed I could can see myself test driving and ordering an MY03 STi PPP it maybe slower and heavier but thats progress and technology for you
. At least they have nearly caught up in performance terms with a 4 year old model.

Nice one Rob, a touch more than my 195bhp PATW RA with the same mods as mine (just centre and backbox). I guessed the 6 speed box it would be similar due to the gearing. Still interested to see what an STI PPP is putting out at the wheels. I guess people are out enjoying them rather than dynoing them
. Still concerned over the weight factor though 200+kgs more. Guess I will wait till my dealer has a demo with a PPP if they get one done.

Given that Mike's Post and the Press announcement coincide, and agree (S-UK explicitly, Mike by implication) that availability is "October" can anyone give an authoritative guide as to whether there is or isn't a delay (Pooder's post above: similar assertions in another PPP Thread?), and if so how long for? The very good point was made that availability one year after the car was new diminishes the value if you have a 2- or 3-year replacement policy!

I believe any holdup will be in dealers being slow to return the old ECU's to prodrive for PPP'ing. The sports cat and other bits are all in full production. With the WRX PPP I believe Prodrive made 30-40 ECU's sent them out, expecting the old ECU's to come flooding back in.
So i'm informed, but cannot confirm the ECU's from the cars trickled back in, rather than rushed back to prodrive. This apparently was the cause of many of the delays.
Time will tell if the lessons from the WRX PPP have been learned, but I think the £1000 for late or non return of ECU's for modding will help speed up the process.
The last figure I heard for numbers of people waiting were around the 100+ mark. Therefore I would'nt expect to wait 12 weeks for a PPP(fingers crossed). The full truth is, is that dealers can't give a delivery date because they:
a. Don't know
b. Have to wait on the return of old ECU's
It's only been anounced a few days. Give the process time to work it way through and be patient.
Actually everyone waiting on a PPP should get a strop on RIGHT NOW and cancel. That way the rest of us move up the queue

Neil,
I was told
" The ECU fitted in the first 'Batch' were all Brand new and when these are return and modded the next batches will be despatched"
If what is suspected that the mod is fitting a Daughter Board or even reprogrammed chip it all takes time
there are dealers who may not have had any yet ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Limiter for Top speed (not Rpm) in a Standard STi7 UK was 160mph
PPP quoted at 155mph

Correct. The first batch of ECU's were brand new bought in ones to have the piggyback board fitted, then the swopping starts.
Not wishing to be negative here, but if PPP delivery was quoted as October (and that's when the first batch have been fitted), then that will be for the first batch only. There aren't 100 new ECU's out there......so the October date was only for the first batch, and it will take time to work through them. Some dealers are quoting 12 weeks.
As said, the process is exactly the same as the WRX ones and some dealers were lax in returning the ECU's, which just holds things up for the next batch. I expect there is a £1000 surcharge for non returned ECU's as there was for the WRX, but I do not know if there is a time limit on them. There should be, given that there has been a historical problem with some being late returned.
Stick a 48 hour time limit on the surcharge, and the waiting list should go down a bit![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
BTW, as Neil says, did you hear the PPP is absolute crap and not worth doing? I recommend you all cancel your orders immediately

I'm not sure about this "dealers lax" comment guys - my dealer wanted the car in the day before TO AVOID the £1000 fine - so he could get the old one out and shipped. Cant imagnine these dealers can all afford £1000 for what is in essence a postage issue!!!!
Glad to see its finally here and cant wait to test one!

incredible figures for a PPP, but it doesnt persuade me to go for a my02 or my03.
the people talking about standard old shape ras only being a little off the pace.....remember that anders standard 22B (except back box) achieved 3.8 seconds using datron timing gear performed consistently by the driven tv programme. They were NOT gentle on the clutch though. With the same drivetrain and almost the same talk, I wouldnt take the standard RAs figures as being the be all and end all.
And remember you are comparing a standard car with a modded car. Ask Andy F what can be done with £1000 to a standard RA. and remember that his started at 240bhp not 280!

Adam I dont thing my RA is off the pace
, I was just going off my recent RAs dyno figures and just interested on how it stacks up. Even with a few more horses a new STI 7 is 16% heavier so it follows it is going to need more than 16% increased power (more than an RAs power) to overcome a standard RA in a straight line. I make that about 325PS just to match a 280PS classic RA. If you mod the RA then due to the weight the goal posts move further.
In the real world they are two different cars both have pros and cons, it depends what is most important to you and what you want from the car IMHO.
Cheers

Adam & Chrisp,
After the success of the STi7UK and the Type 'C' S202( better than 22B!!!!) which apparently is sold out. I wouldn't be suprised if the S202 is "Prodrived"
and made into MY03 P2UK ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Tony wishful thinking, but I think the STI7 PPP is going to be the highest current production model. It would be nice to see an S202 but like you said they were limited edition and have sold out. If one appeared it would have to meet all sorts of regulations unless they were sold as official grey imports

Russell,
Found some info on the P1.
Power leaps from the standard Turbo's already outstanding 218 PS at 5,600 rpm to 280 PS, while torque has increased to an estimated 260 lb ft compared to the 'normal' model's 214 lb ft at 4,000 rpm.
Performance significantly improves on the standard car's 143.5 mph top speed and 0-62 mph time of 6.3 seconds. Top speed for the P1 is now confirmed at 155 mph, while a 0-60 mph time has been recorded at 4.66 seconds.
Tests have also recorded the 0-100 mph sprint in 12.38 seconds, with a standing quarter mile in 13.43 seconds and standing kilometre in 24.61 seconds.
50-70mph in 5th 6.9 seconds.
Cheers,
Rob.
