keep it up Jas... i stopped in January and havnt touched one since.. and you know how much i used to smoke!!

i went to the nhs center and had my cm levels checked... saw how quick they went down.. kinda helped, also read a book by Alan Carr called the easy way... really helped too, havnt touched one since, and have no desire to either!

the habit ones were the hardest, like after i had eaten, so replaced the *** with an apple, and that was the trigger to say dinner was finished, rather than the *** as it used to be!!!

stick with it.. it gets easier as you know.. u did well last time

take care boss

Thanks everyone
I'm still going strong, haven't even wanted one for more than a minute so far. Bloody hell if Maria can give up then so can I.
Sue nice to hear from you also.
Had a look at those pictures from an earlier post and they are scary stuff. That has helped.

sideways,

I gave up about 3 years ago in australia. (only because the **** there suck!)

I use nicotine gum to help the cravings.. i found it really good, and didn't really need to go through the procedure of cutting down the gum every few weeks, caus it's fecking desgusting to chew, and you get fed up with it after a while!

I suppose it helps that the gum's a bit rank, as your body gets used to the cravings resulting in chewing something disgusting!

I've never looked back. Had a *** at an office party, but it nearly made me sick. Oh, and the odd `herbal` as well, but it was hardly any tobacco so it doesn't count

Have never smoked but have been near people who have gone through the giving up process.

Big thumbs up to you for sticking with it.

Oi Mark I was basking in the glory of being a non smoker lol

Feel fine apart from a snotty nose.
Have incentive, mate has given up for 28 days now without telling anyone and my "If he can do it I can do it" mentality has kicked in lol.

Each day is a day more of being a non-smoker.

Also - I decided that if I stopped smoking that would save me say £4.00 a day
£28.00 a week rounded up to £30.00 a week
£120.00 a month.

So I had £120.00 a month spare !
sold the Pug Xsi - cleared loan of £200+ per month
left me with £320 per month

What did I buy with the moola ?????

Oh yes

she rides

Scooby MY99

All down to kicking the weed. Good job cos with the amount I'm spending on Juice I can't afford to smoke now :

Thing about the 5 finger shuffle is that it could get you into a bit of bother at the local restaurant, or nipping out to the front gates at work to knock one off the wrist.

Having said that there are a few w a n k e r s around who might chill out for having a word with Pam and her five sisters

LOL

I gave up in April. Can't remember the exact date but it was a Sunday and decided not to buy another pack when I ran out. Setting goals and recording the time adds pressure I think, like giving up at New Year, that is so difficult. Had patches for a week (they're more expensive than the ****) and avoided smoking environments, eg pubs and going out for meals. If you drive to work though it must be twice as hard, luckily I wear a crash helmet for my commute. To agree with MarkO, there is no substitute for will power.

Taste buds returned after about two months. Still don't feel particlarly fit even after visiting the gym twice a week since July but no doubt I am fitter. However, still have moments when I'm out and want a cigarette. It's not the nicotine addiction as I've got it out of my blood stream it's just that I loved smoking. I gave up because of the cost mainly and that I always said I'd give up when I turned thirty.

Also I packed in the special weed and daren't go back in case I get back on the ****.

Good luck and it's not impossible.
