Looking sweeeeeeet John

Nice to see some close up shots for a change instead of the 'action shots'.

Are you still running your 'overdrive' 5th gear?? Due to breaking my neck(I kid you not!!)high-siding coming out of 'Wiperman' this year, my future trips to our favourite place will be on four wheels from now on and i'm a bit worried about the short 5th and high speed engine failure? The car should be 'linked' in the near future so shouldn't be a prob. but always interested in your views ie is the spacing between 4th & 5th too big etc?

Regards

Tony

Funny you should say that, i picked my car up an hour ago after having the gearbox rebuild, 5th gear replaced. So if you want a higher 5th, drop me a mail. I replaced 5th gear plus the syncro/baulk rings etc from 3rd/4th plus had a couple of other minor jobs done.

First impresions (driven it 5 miles) is it's miles better with the lower 5th, it now feels right rather than manic, manic, manic, manic, put put. It is now manic, manic, manic, manic, manic. Love it.

It's droped 20MPH off the top speed but its much much beter for gear selection in places like Pflatzgarten1,2,3 and the fast left kink after adenau forst. It should accelerate quicker too in teh high speed stuff. I was hitting 155MPH into schwedencraux as indicated on the speedo, i recon it should hit 8000rpm at that speed in 5th now. Incedentally, phil gardner uses his TypeR on the ring with standard gearing which i now have.

Thanks for the info John...

Maybe i'll leave tinkering with the box till after my next trip to the Ring to see what it's like with the standard gearing.

Regards

Tony

Wink

The black one on the floor looks cool, shame you cant do that in real life and have it to drive well.

That blue one above has funny things at the back. They have handles on them like the front and look like they may open. Someone told me they were doors!! What do you need 4 doors for.
