don't turn this in to a flame war, it's pointless and I'm working round the clock to bring something to the community that will be a benefit to all (including scoobynet - which cost a small fortune to keep running for you all).
Mark.. re-read my original request. It is not just the bandwidth.
Would you please do me a favour and let this rest now?
I'll let it lie now, but I may well decide to link to images on my site in the future. If that's a problem, I suggest you update your terms and conditions to clarify that.

You have been asked to stop it. Take it like a man and stop doing it, else you will be removed.
Jeez, some people need a sense of humour.

What makes me laugh is that there were 4 or 5 pages of this misuse of Simon's letters before I even came into the damned thread - and all using Simon's bandwidth. How come I'm the one who gets threatened?!?!?!

thanks for pointing out that you've been around for so much longer than this spring chicken. I'm sure you spent pretty much EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and weekend working on it FOR ABSOLUTELY NO FINANCIAL REWARD AT ALL during those years.
For the last 2 years that I've run scoobynet, paying it's costs, and spending countless (and I really mean countless) hours working on software, paying for servers, software, badwidth which is not always covered by the revenue generated by the banners, supporting bad debts with my own personal money, paying up front for insurances, licenses, solicitors, etc in the hope that the ad revenue will pay me back at some point (then forgetting about it), spending EVERY holiday I've had in the last 2 years working on scoobynet software / bug fixing / upgrading software / thinking about new ways of making it better, worrying about legal action that is threatened on a fairly regular basis, and the working almost every single night of the last six months trying to put together something that will be of huge benefit to YOU, the vendors and scoobynet (hopefully giving it a bit of an income to allow for someone to run the accounts (which I currently do), answering the 150 or so emails a day (which I currently do), chasing advertisers for banner ad payments (which I currently do) montoring the server (which I currently do), etc, etc, etc...
If I was in this for the money, I would be the biggest fool alive!
Grow up Mark.
Regards
Simon

One of the reasons I love Scoobynet is that what seems like a small issue, something really rather trivial, rapidly escalates into a slanging match. As the hours pass, the abuse becomes more obvious, the humour more forced ..... classic stuff.
(By the way, I have no idea what you guys are talking about re technical terms - I wouldn't know if you buy bandwidth by the pound, trip over it in the dark, or salute it.)
One request - can all those concerned go to the muppet forum (you included Simon, for originating the "hmm, tasteful!" logos) and handbag some sense into each other. Then you can all re-emerge into General as best mates, pretending nothing's happened.
Ta very much

Fair points Simon. But regarding your comment:
Might I suggest that if you're losing as much money as you claim through Scoobynet, either
a) you've got so much money it doesn't matter,
b) you're not being totally truthful and do at least break even or
c) you're foolish not to be doing it for the money.
It's time for me to **** off home, and I think I've made my point. What started off as a laugh by everyone else has turned into a witch hunt to me 'cos I did it better than they all did. Fine. Whatever. If you can't see the funny side, it's no skin off my nose.
Anyway, I'll leave you to it. Have a nice evening.

bros2... ROFLMAO! one of the funniest things I've read in a while.. and very apt.
Mark.. I promise it's nothing to you personally.. it was just that you were the only one carrying on. Let's forget it. Neither of us want the agro, so it was probably just a mis-understanding.
I never said "i was losing so much money"... I think we probably break even financially.. if we don't it's not THAT far off.. but I would hate to add up the cost of my time making sure that it DOES come close to breaking even.
Either way.. it's not your concern.. and that's the way I've always tried to make it work.. that nobody apart from me has to worry about that.
All the best
Simon

serious note...
It looks like avatars are the way to go then?
If we restrict it so there are a number (hopefully large) avatar images available and you can select one, rather than allowing people to post their own, would this be OK?
If someone wanted something specific, they could send it to us, and as long as it met guidelines (size, content, etc) it could be added?
Let me know what you would prefer.
All the best

avatars are bollox. Just slow things down and get in the way.
Instead of appending images to the end of your post, just stick a small logo under the username. An example would be the sidc forums.

Sorry Simon but I reckon you should leave it as it is!! if it ain't broke don't fix it!! I understand how things need enhancing and tweaking in order to keep up with the Jonses but it seems apparent that a lot of people on here don't want this particular enhancement. I have removed all Sig files and Avatars from my BB S at work and nobody has complained and as it is MY BBS I decided to do i, Respect to you for not adopting the same attitude as me but Please don't add stupid Avatars
Cheers
Steve

Avatars - well if you want to go down that route, then have a range of Scabbynet approved Avatars or the option to an off-site image.
Why not have a more functional search utility - much more useful, a better use of time and resources than silly eye candy.
