Being the dork that struggled to follow John cross country, I can confirm that I had sweatty handpalms trying to do so

Now of course I could find some excuses like "I didn't know the roads" or "I'm not used driving on the left", but that would be silly and besides the point.

Even if you take into the equation that I'm a pretty slow driver, and JF has been in some cars before , the Sport is a very worthy car IMHO. I love the turbo and the 300 ish BHP my car makes, but most of the time during such a squirt, I'm not using the turbo at all because I'm not capable enough to do so. JF carried speed throughout the corners where I backed off and used the power again on the exit to catch on.

Yes there were one or two places (read: long 4 lane straights ) I could have passed, but I declined knowing that on the next twisty section he would be all over me, and I felt silly enough as it was

JF also had a non-lightweight screaming passenger that evening IIRC

Of course, I we would have swapped cars, the difference would have been a lot bigger, but it brings home the point that a capable driver with a Sport can really do some spirited fast driving on the road.

I agree that it is probably one of the most underestimated cars (along with the Legacy BTW), because of all the attention going to the Impreza Turbo.

Finally, it was an incredibly fun ride, which is wat matters most to me, bruised ego or not
