I think the regional approach has to be the way ahead guys. Some of us are enthusiastic about our cars, but as someone else has quite rightly pointed out, to varying degrees.
Due to the fact that I'm off overseas for a spell, my main interest would be in a web-based forum on the RB5OC website. The feeling I'm getting is that this may well be the main thrust of the vast majority of people interested in pursuing this whole thing. If we do get some meets up norf' or dahn sarf' then it'll be a Brucy bonus!!!
Let's just get things in to perspective first off and not waste all of the hard work and effort Mark and Gavin have put in thus far on the web-based objectives...
Remember - from these small acorns, great oaks trees are born (...or whatever it was that old gadgy said)
Keep your peckers up fella's...

re the website - how about a for sale section? There always seem to be a couple of these up for sale, and the oc is the obvious place to advertise. Available to members only for a nominal cost to cover extra bandwidth? Just a thought.

re: the for sale section. I would add this the section but i dont have the webspace for this, hence membership fee to pay for bigger domain space and AFAIK a forum requires quite a bit of kit to run well.
everything is possible but as i said before i cant afford to run this myself.

I Would happily pay the £40 membership for an owners club website,
to be honest,i haven't bothered reading this thread as it looked a tad tedious.(20 odd pages)
Obviously the two guys involved have put an awful lot of hard work into this, wot a shame to let it go to waste!!
...and proof of how sad i am

We could combine Wales & middlands into one? That may help. Also, as far as forum goes, how about a yahoo group?
Ive been a member of a Impreza Sport group for a year or so now (I started in a sport) and its been great. Iy works through your email; you get a group mailing list so everyone gets everyones posts, but as there would be a small number of us it should work well.
Plus its free
PLus you get space for a gallery and other stuff.
Just an idea.
BTW - are we going for a meet or not?

I can host the website for free, if that's what we need. It's windows based.
I can set up a forum with my own beta trial forum software. As long as you understand it's beta, i'll be happy to give it to the club to test.
I will pay £40 or whatever to get me and my car in the club.
I can't organise a p!$$ up in a brewery, so I don't think I'll be a good co-ordinator. I also can not make the meeting planned as I've got a planned trip into hospital. :-(
I will make all efforts to come to the next meet, assuming I'm not hooked up to a intravenous drip! I also know another RB5 owner who will be happy to attend too.
If you would like the offer of the website and/or the forum, let me know.

WOW what a read
ok im not a RB5 owner so you can tell me to p**S off if you want but it looks like a lot of hard work as been put into the website
well done
I started going to a few runs and thought i could do one of these
Raid across the border the cumbrian scoobs was born from this in 5 minutes in the pub
Thanks to rusty we have a great website the group is going from strength and we now have a full calender look at the <chats> on the northern section thats how the group has grown
i got involved in the Tyne Tees scoobs and meeting some great chaps over there i shared my <vision> of a super meet
the NORTHERN BIG ONE was born in a 5 minute conversation this could be one of the largest meets ever
i suggest to you all
meet at the NBO sort out a simple convoy
one north
one south
on here then convoy in together and we will try to park you all together then discuss the future at the NBO
i was gutted to see RB5 pulling out of the NBO as it is not allowed my car will be dirty !! so turn up mate!!
Good luck
the start is always the hardest !!
as raids to europe becon me and my troops

I'm am still definatly still interested in the club and am happy to submit articles or anything that may be of help once the club is up and running, my internet access is limited hence not many posts. I am happy to attend meetings etc.. and pay the £40 to enter - I would very much like to see this work.
Cheers

danboy,
It's one of those PSI3's. - http://www.psi3.co.uk/
Have you heard of the ecuTek DeltaDash software? They both read the std signals from the Ecu i.e. boost, coolant temp, engine speed, knock, etc..
The DeltaDash software runs on a laptop connected to the Select port in the scooby and can log all the data.
The PSI3 does exactly the same, but sticks it up onto an LCD in your dash so you can read the values without a laptop. Benefit is you don't need millions of gauges or a laptop, but IIRC it doesn't do logging (yet).
Since the ECU does do Oil Temp and Oil Pressure, neither DeltaDash or PSI do these in std trim. You need to add sensors and hook them up to them as seperate Analogue inputs.
Unfortunately, AndrewC stopped investigating his DIY ECU meter for the MY99/00 cars otherwise you could've had the same thing for < £50

Thanks for that info Ozzy it sounds like a lot of hassle though with all them extra sensors having to be fitted. I was kinda hoping you just plugged it in Im not very technically minded.
Oh well normal gauges it will be then...Shame.

Mark - I've changed my steering wheel to a 350mm Momo Millenium. Had to buy a Nitosport boss to fit the wheel properly but then end result is superb and using the Nitosport boss (although very expensive) retains self-cancellation and also comes with all the circuitry necessary to cancel to airbag warning light.
Phil
Just out of interest - can you do the rally style name stickers(i.e. Drumsterphil with a St George flag a la rally style)? Want some for the NBO and seemed to remember you doing custom stickers.

Mark- also forgot to ask you about your rear STi lights. I've finally changed mine as well but wondered what you'd done about not having a rear fog light. I'm intending to temporarily replace the STi light with the original fog light equipped one for it to get through the MOT, but wondered what you had done?
