Cool

Otis good to see you are still with us. Happy New Year.

I ran F1s on the DBM MY00 saloon, and have put them on my WRX Sportswagon

I have no idea what the load index is. But the wear index is about 12 months and at least four hundred quid!!

I was interested in the comment from Prodrive about the rear spoiler because mine was ripped off by vandals in France earlier this year.

I phoned the dealer in the UK to find out whether the spoiler did anything or was merely cosmetic. Their reply was that the spoiler was cosmetic and therefore I could drive as fast as I like. Certainly the car didn't fly off the road when a friend in a Boxster and I hammered back up the motorway in a very high speed convoy of other quick UK registered cars.

After all the spoilers on the BTCC cars are also cosmetic, although they do fly off the track!

I am told the Goodyear do two versions of the F1 GSD3 or whatever it's reference is - an 87 and an additionally reinforced 91. The latter of these two are going on my car this Saturday .

Hi, Barry - Happy New Year to you aswell . I don't seem to have that much to say these days but still here in spirit. Let me know if you're going on any run outs and I'll come along to catch up, in the conversational sense .

Otis.

Interesting discusion, not something i have seen on this BBS before
You should pop across to the MLR alittle more often then

Its not just a case of weight/speed, its the amount of pressure you put upon the tire.A modern 300bhp+ 4 wheel drive car exerts alot of pressure exiting corners for instance, and also the amount of force you apply when braking hard also comes into consideration. Not just a case of well my cars weighs this and i live in the UK on a 70mph motorway!

Otis/Anyone

Mine are due for replacement and I always run Goodyear F1s.

1. On a modified MY94 WRX 290bhp ish. Will 87s do or must I go for 91s. Are 91s just playing safe or neccessary for a car with my power?

2. Is there a huge difference in price between the two?

3. I have never used Toyos because I have stuck to what I know is good F1s. However so many people use them including John F, and when one did blow on someone else they performed well. Could someone tell me what they feel are the key advantages/saftey features of SO2/SO3 over F1s.

Thanks alot
Cheers
Steve

Sorry John.
I was a bit hung over when I typed that in.
I didn't mean Toyos but SO2s..Doh

Could you tell me what you think the advantages are of the SO2 over F1s? Or is it just personal preference that you go for SO2s?
Are SO2s a safer tyre if they blow? Or is it all down to personal preference.

Thanks
Steve

I used to really rate F1`s when i had them on the Scoob, so i fitted them to the front of the Evo when the Yoko AVS sports wore out.Well what a mistake!

The steering has gone from been accurate with plenty of feed back to now having a woolly turn in with no feed back! Needless to say i cannot wait to get rid of them now and buy another set of a) Yoko AVS's or b) 02PP's.
