Whats the best way to stop kids from skateboarding outside my house?

I would put some glue where they skate, they would not use that patch a again.
Or some of that black stuff you put on your back walls and gates to stop cats from comming in to you garden, the black stuff is sticky and will go all over the place where the lads take the skateboard, so there parents wont be too pleased

Problem is that my house has 2 'designated' parking spots for our cars which are offset from the front of the house. If I parked my car on the pavement it would hinder the other neighbours from reversing out of their drives. I do like the chippings and 'black stuff' theory though.
And Marko - nice line about the skateboard pricing but what took you so long....

Try leaving a large collection of porno mags in a carrier bag near where they skate.
This should keep them off the streets and locked away in their bedrooms for a while

Firstly Tiggs - You changed your tune!! so should we send them round to build a camp behind your back fence mate?
I have a similar thing outside my house with 3 or 4 kids and skate boards.. It causes me no hassle and I would rather they did it in my little cul-de-sac than on a busier road and at least they are not doing something they shouldn't and still being kids etc..
Also I get a nod and a wave when the scooby gets taken out.
I feel being friendly with them is the best bet.. they won't be stealing my scoob when they are 17 hopefully if I am nice to them.
The old woman living opposite is a right moany old bat.. everyone else in the cul-de-sac is retired so you can imagine that they hate them skating.. one day she stared at them out the window, I think she thought it would bother them.. they took it as a challenge to get her to stop and made more noise and messed about and then one decided to remove his clothes and hold his private parts in one hand and thumb for a lift at the end of the cul-de-sac... I was in stitches and the old bat stopped staring..
Rather amusing as the kid that did this is the son of one of the guys on the local council.. and he was driving the 3rd car he thumbed a lift at I nearly split my sides as he screached to a hault and hauled the kid into the car!!!
I'd suggest you make friends with them and ask nicely if they they have anywhere else they can skate and make it clear that it is only because your daughter cannot sleep when they are skating, perhaps take her out with you when you talk to them.

Mark, you beat me to it, that was going to be one of my suggestions. The other would be to invest in a skateboard and follow the time honoured expression of "if you can't beat them join them"
I borrowed a mates kids skateboard once and it was clear they didn't want anything to do with me. I'm not sure how old you are but the thought of playing skateboards with a middle age bloke is not most 15 year olds idea of fun!!

I regularly used to go out and roller-skate with the kids that live in my road. They really enjoyed it 'cos I'd teach 'em tricks and stuff.
In fact, it got a bit embarassing - we'd have friends/in-laws round for drinks, and the kids would turn up at the door crying "are you coming out skating with us again tonight?".

Used to be a skater myself and if asked by residents to move because of noise or anything, we usually did. If they just moaned at us to move because they 'didn't want us around' we'd just come back 20 minutes later. If you give them a bit of respect and speak to them like adults they'll be a bit more respectful to you.
If they do turn out to be little tw@ts then just scatter gravel all over the place every time they appear. It'll only take you 5 seconds to throw it down and it'll take them 20 minutes to clear it up so they can skate again.
On the other hand you could find them a grindable metal pole that they could take to someone elses street

The dog poo thing was mentioned a couple of posts before MarkO
That's the 3rd time in 2 days I've had a post attributed to me that I didn't write. It's not that hard - the username is right there next to the post itself.

LOL at super_si.
Wonder if I can be arsed to go and modify the images on my server so the pictures actually say "super si is a tw@t"?
Nope.
Besides, the kids didn't want sweets - they were after sex.
