Jesus, you are a lucky guy. Glad you're ok though. Did the air bags go off then? Maybe you could sell the car to Peugeot for their next 206 advert?

Glad to hear you're OK apart from a bit of pride bashing.

I must say they are the best crash pics I have seen, I will be taking it a bit easier on the way up to Fort William this morning.

You really have done a job on the car.

Very impressed it held up so well after flipping so many times.

Obviously I'm glad that you were able to walk away from it.

Very scary looking.

Sorry if I don't join the sympathy squad

So it's on the bit of road you use every day, so "I didn't know the road" excuse doesn't apply....

You are lucky you didn't leave some other poor innocent sod fatherless, or motherless etc

Do us all a favour and learn how to drive before you get back on the road

If you are dumb enough to smash your car up, why come on here crowing about it and proudly parading the photos?

Inclined to agree with Dave T-S although no doubt the driving would have been more 'controlled' in a built up area.

Is that the A174 North of Whitby, near Port Mulgrave? If so then that is a pretty steep hill you've just come down and your speed possibly exceeded your estimation.

Sad to see a nice car go to the scrapyard

Road looks damp/wet/greasy, 60mph+ on a corner like that in those conditions? you are either stupid or have ***** the size of the footballs!

Its sorry to see, but one thing to blame for the accident, you were not in control of the car. As Dave said, lucky you didnt kill someone (or yourself).

Makes you think dont it

Dave T-S did say a couple of things to think about for the future, however i don't believe for a minute that he drives like an Angel all the time. Glad to see you are almost ok. Go on, be honest - How fast?

I think that's a bit harsh, Dave T-S. I wouldn't say that he was 'crowing' about it. The guy realises that it's his own fault and while no-one wants to see pictures like these, it certainly helps to sober people up a bit and maybe some of us will think twice before giving it max thru a damp corner next time.

Glad you're not hurt and equally that nobody else was.

POC, I think a scoob would be able to take that corner at 60 mph......faster would be a different matter. Also hittin ghte brakes or unbalancing the car before or during a corner like that is a big NO!

Anyone know a good panel beater near Whitby/Middlesbrough

cant wait for farmer giles to knock on me door tomorrow telling me to fix his fence im gonna lamp him with me crutches

only going 60mph *cough*
I don't see an admission of sorrow or guilt in comments like that. I hope the owner of the property sues him for the damage - but of course his insurance company will get stiffed for it. No doubt he/others will then be bleating about the cost of their renewal...

And of course I drive like a loon sometimes, but I do it within the limits of my car and myself.

Cool

So whos up for salvage then

Glad to hear your ok

Did the same in my escort couple of years ago - another drivers fault though - he was on the wrong side of the road

He went through one fence into a field - i went through another

Think the same farmer owned both

Bloody hell Dave TS you got out of bed the wrong side. Give the guy a break he's just having a joke at his own misfortune ( like I probably would in that situation )

Dave-TS I think that is more than harsh. Someone wrecked their pride and joy and came close to killing themself. Are you honestly saying youve never had a brown trouser moment that could have turned nasty? When people have such a close scare they often react with jokes. Somehow I doubt you'd react the same way if a member of your family or a close friend had done the same thing.

It has certainly opened a lot of peoples eyes by posting those pics so it may even save someone else doing the something similar which could have claimed a life.

Simon.

Somehow, I don't think so.......or logically these photos would not be posted after the last one on here, if you see what I mean.

Red face

Good your OK and keep smiling - just need to add my tuppence....

I did a similar thing last year, only one roll on to the roof though still wrote the car off.

Trouble is since I got my Scooby I still cant do corners without thinking back.

Its not the crash that is in my head its the what ifs.

Althought the biggest 'What if'...

What if I'd wiped another car out. See my brother was on duty that day and spoke to the traffic cop dealing and he said if I had hit someone else it would almost definitely be dangerous driving. Never mind if I had killed someone. Probably be locked up, jobless who knows.

I could still have been done for Careless driving or whatever the lesser charge is but I think they took pity on me and thought I had hurt myself enough.

So I think Dave T-S has a point, I learned my lesson and hopefully it wont happen again.

One good thing - I am really impressed in the Impreza's strength. After 6 rolls the passenger compartment is still pretty much intact. See they build something that strong but one little touch in a car park and the side of the door caves in..

Dave T-S - I can only agree with you.

I am sure Pathfinder feels awful in reality and I am very glad he is ok, and only has minor injuries. But it's very sad to see how lightly some people including Pathfinder (on the surface) are taking this. To roll 6 times that far into a field after braking means 60mph was not very accurate. You best not say the truth as i think even i could make a case against you for prosecution with that evidence ! You were driving way too fast for the conditions and you were braking in a corner. I have no idea your experience of driving but learning the limits (yours and the car) are very important. You cannot just jump into a performance car and be safe. Get some training or next time you hurt others maybe. With Scoobies cheaper now it's all too easy for inexperienced drivers to get a car with emormous performance and this worries me.

Somehow I think he would.

Lack of equilibrium between speed, sense and skill

Agree with the sentiment Dave. But delivered with all the subtlety of Mr Lewis??

These cars flatter the average driver into believing their skill not AWD keeps it on the tarmac. Fortunately for most of us reality strikes a little less dramatically.

Dave TS - This thread is much better than the hundreds of threads on scoobynet along the lines "left a beemer for dead through the twisties" - At least it show what happens when the driver "runs out of driving ability".

You all seem quick to jump to conclusions. I was in a very similar type of crash a number of years ago. An investigation concluded that a steering rod broke which was the cause of my accident. He may well have been driving beyond his ability, but without the car being investigated you shouldn't be to quick to judge. If this was a road he used often then there would likely be some other factor to consider.
