The offset can be checked with a timing light but I haven't checked mine yet. The values in the map have an offset from the usual timing reference of "degrees before top dead centre" (BTDC). I gather that on MY99/00 UK Subarus the usual offset is about 10 degrees BTDC. The only reason you quote it is that the STi and P1 seem to have about 0 offset.

550s can be accommodated by changes in the fuel map, there is not documented injector size in the Ecutek stuff, and if there was it would presumably be an across the board alteration. I have only tried 550s on mine so far and not finished the map. Since I am fairly new to mapping compared to the old hands I tend to try out everything on my car first and get absolutely happy with it before I try it on someone elses. I think this is the way they learned too rather than going to "ECU mapping school". Anyway, what I and others found with 550s is that you need to take away less fuel on small openings compared with big injector opening times (ie not linear alteration across the fuel map although that is a good start).

Hi Tone Loc, try www.Autospeed.com it,s a Australian online magazine. when you are logged on go to "Technical features" keep on going until you get to Boost terms. That should give you the anwsers you need. It also has loads of other stuff that is intresting to read.

Can I have a copy too please?

John,
I was interested to see your hypothesis of the turbo overspinning. Has no-one developed a way to measure turbo speed directly - eg by sensing light reflected off the compressor?
Interested 'cause I've now got a twin-turbo legacy and there are lots of stories of the primary over-spinning.

Tony,

I think you are reading the timing map wrong, or you have a copy of one of my early ones, which had the scales the wrong way round.

It should be about 40+ degree's at low load and about 17 Degree's at full load/full revs. Less on some, more on others

Scott,

Is this the wrong way round?

The data (axis) is set out the same as for the fuel map (i.e looking in excel the axes are the same and the data is cut and pasted from the master file) which seems to be ok (high rpm/high load = pig rich) and i've looked at the master file and i think that this is the way it should be..... if not im very confused!

Tony.

that graph is correct, well, nearly, adress looks one row out.

ignition map appears to have 17 rows, 1st one is a red herring, can't remember when I noticed this or put it to paper, think it was on the spreadsheet I did, but possibly not as I was at work .
without decent (colour mapped) hex editor.

Paul
