we compared the performance with my mechanics freinds p1 and there is not much diffrence apart from my car revs are higher it seems to be a little quicker over 60mph.i needed a new clutch so we did
a quick look at pulleys and started from there. my car is a sti 2 ecu (260bhp)it is the only answer it could possibly be there is no way it would be anywhere near as quick as a p1.

Thomo, do you believe everything people tell you??? When you do learn to read, just tell us what it says on the block, though I dont really think any 1 cares anymore.
And are P1's so quick, that nothing could go faster????
What next ?????

Thomo,
I think people are interested in what block you have, because of the TOPIC YOU POSTED !!!!
1st you tell us you DEFINATELY have a 2.2lt, now you have an engine with up rated internals, ported heads, up rated cams, etc'.
Basically, you have NO IDEA what you have. The guy who told you he fitted a 2.2lt, has obviously misled you, now you're being told the engine must be up rated.
I'm glad you're happy with whatever engine you have, but if you're going to post information, recommending people do the same as you, at least make sure the information is accurate !!!!
Mark.

For Banzai Magazines Scooby shoot out my 94 WRX with just an exhaust, induction kit and 1 bar boost was quisker than a P1 0 -60, 0 - 100 & 1/4 mile. It ws also quicker than a modified 22b 0 - 100. Does this also mean I have got uprated rods, pistons, pulleys etc, if so it is also going to save me alot of money and Marks going to loose an order
As my Scooby was rolling roaded a couple of days later with 265 bhp and 260 lbft, I do not think so, it was just a case of me being more willing to drive my Scooby that bit harder than the other drivers. Do you not think that could be your case with your comparison, on the road a 260 bhp WRX with an exhaust and air filter would be very similar performance wise to a 280 bhp P1.

Heh heh..you could use up that extra 20bhp in the P1 by just being a lard bucket and having a pint of guiness and a whoel hock of ham for lunch!
Death by meat! Death by meat!
Get out of the pub and into a P1 and watch the power be sucked up by the extra tonnage of driver
Seriously, Thomo, all you've done is alienate a whole bunch of pretty knowledgeable guys: If you wanna come on and talk tech you really need to know when to admit you are wrong or have plenty of facts to hand, or be prepared to go and get them (everyone on here will wait.....if there is one thing scoobynetters seem to love it is an empassioned debate! For proof, check out the forum "Slagging match...er....I mean General").
Everyone can learn SOMEthing from someone on this board. That is surely the whole point?

"well well guys how lucky am i the engine has been ported and flowed lightened flywheel perfomance pulleys cams rods etc"
is it just me or are gas flowed engines for NA cars? I thought they raised the compression which is a definate nono on a turbo car.
As for the legacy lump being quicker im again sceptical, the 2.2 litre bit is good, but ive heard the engines themselves are a bit poo and its only the slightly larger displacement that scooby tuners like. Ive got a 2.2 stroker kit in my wrx and it does make a decent difference, but thats without the legacy sequential turbo ****e

LOL @ Xmas shopping....how true
But it has about as much relevevance to this thread as your 2.2 Stage 54.3, super turbo, mega cam, big bore 8 engine does...
Does it have nitrous too??? or maybe nitro-methane fuelled?? thats why its just so fast.
I have a funny feeling that my mini would destroy your car, and I KNOW it is only a 1.3.
Perhaps this should go to the muppets soon.

2.2 Stage 54.3, super turbo, mega cam, big bore 8 engine
I know..while we are transplanting engines....
Why not just 'drop in' a Paxman Valenta diesel engine.
This is a straight 12 turbo diesel (turbo is the size of barnstable) with a displacement of 79.5 litres!!!
Each one can rev to 1500rpms and produce 1200bhp and more torque than we have numbers to describe. You normally find them in HSTs (That's an intercity 125 train to you and me) and in pairs to produce 2400bhp.
If possible, we could get your mechanic to uprate the cams and pulleys and gas flow and port it too....and then we could go drag racing in a diesel! Yeah!
Ok Ok...maybe I HAVE done too much xmas shopping.......

its got a front lsd as well because it doesnt wheelspin as much as a std uk.
FFS...
open you bonnet... let me know the following...
the rough percentage of oli / muck under the bonnet.
the bit stamped on the block EJ20 or EJ25 etc..
The colour of the battery
The colour of the pipes...
Rough shade of the oil...
I can then tell you what rods, stroke, cam duration, compression ratio, fuel consumption, 0 - 60, 0 - 100, 1/4mile just by the above figures isnt it?
Or is it simply that your fu11 of **** and its really just a sport? if not ffs.. just prove it..
(ps rods dont make your car any faster... or more powerfull (Dont even bother mark, paul, andy, stevie..)

Interesting thread here guys. Seems to be a lot of knowledgable (sp) people asking some simple questions of you Mr. Thomo. Why are you avoiding answering them and acting childish with your answers? Everyone is just interested in what you have under your bonnet as they will then be able to help you with the facts about your car. Go and have a look and put us all in the light!
Dan - Merry Christmas everyone!

dan 4 im only winding them up. some of these guys have knowledge i agree and some just refuse to acknowledge that its been ported flowed etc.first thoughts where 2.2 granted wrong not me but my mechanic . for the simple reason he was told it was . weve all driven 280bhp imprezas this was not the same at all.dyno reading is a must of course tried to take it to chesterfield two weeks ago
couldnt go.the only car we could compare it with was a a p1 with down pipe filter and a few other small mods. and we know that the p1 had dynode at 302 bhp bearing in mind that we think the car is slightly quicker than the p1. is slightly quicker 5 10 15 bhp more who knows ENGINE STAMP IS EJ20 84BB.WHAT WOULD I GAIN FROM LYING IM TRYING TO FINDOUT WETHER ALL £££ SPENT ON MODS IS REALLY THAT WORTH IT.I HEARD A LOT OF GOOD FACTS ABOUT THE LEGACY ENGINE THATS WHY I BOUGHT ONE .POWER ENGINEERING, GRADE A ,STEVE SIMPSON I SUPPOSE THEY DONT KNOW TO MUCH.anyway im getting drunk happy christmas all.

No 1 disagreed that it could have been ported or otherwise. This thread was started about a 2.2 conversion, which most agreed on the info you provided was probably a load of rubbish. You then changed the story about your engine, and the reason it being so fast, was that it had been "ported and flowed" etc, of course not forgetting that spectacular sti2 ecu you keep mentioning.
So, it now seems everyone here, except you was right, and it was always a 2.0.
But heaven knows why a legacy engine is suddenly so much better than an impreza engine. Are you still suggesting we should all go buy legacy engines??? Any particular year or model we should be looking for???
Id really like my car to be as fast as yours.
BTW you are wanting to know was all the money you spent worth it?? You say £900 for the conversion ( Whatever the conversion actually was ). Well, I would have to say, that if someone has given you a replacement engine, stripped it, ported the cylinder heads, and perhaps also modified some other bits too, all for £900 then you have got the bargain of the century ( not forgetting the STI 2 ecu into the bargain )
And as for the final comment, again, no 1 questioned either PE, Grade A, or Steve Simpson, as until now their names were never mentioned. You were the one who was spouting out crap on scoobynet, none of the people you mention
Happy Christmas anyway
