We wre told 3 weeks ago that our company would not sanction visits to or from the US
for "security reasons".
Only emergecy or business crital travel etc.
Re the terrorists, the motto of the Scottish monarchy comes to mind:
Nemo me impune lassecit.
It's just beyond comprehension.

A very sad day - just on AIM with a friend in the US who has family in NYC ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif)
Carl - The place near to Pittsburgh is Camp David, the presidential retreat.
With regards Bush I think he is ideal for this - a no nonsense man, not soft like Blair. He will soon sort out whoever did this.

Sad sad day ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif)
just to echo I hope everyone on here has safe rellies and friends if you have rellies and friends in the US
I for one really hope that this gels all the nations of the world to sort this out. Blair and Bush have both comitted, but we have short memories, and by next week a cat stuck up a tree will get more TV coverage.

Without wanting to get into politics, I think Bush has to be much more careful than just 'Sort Out' whoever did this. America have in the past upset a lot of powerful people. I for one don't want to go to war over this, it worries me that nuclear capable countries have previous grievances with the states. I'm not suggesting that the a given country was responsible for this attack, mearly that the if the US retaliates, then another country may intervene against them. That would be a disaster.
Anyway my thoughts to all who are affected by this terrorism.
Those with some time on their hands may be interested to read the later half of this thread

I feel physoically sick and have done for a few hours now.
I was watching live when the 2nd plane flew into the tower and it brought tears to my eyes to think of all them people that died at that moment.
A sad, sad day in the history of this world.
My thoughts are with anyone affected by this.

Clearly we will all remember this tragic day for the rest of our lives. When we got an SMS message at about 3 o'clock we thought it was a sick joke. Now we all sit back and wait to hear if friends and family were caught up in it. At the time the phone network was ground to a complete halt.
You want to rush over there and help, but there is nothing you can do. Hopefully when the call for help comes there will be something we can do. As I type the news is just coming in of another building collapse and it is looking increasingly difficult for the emergency services to cope.
Just terrible.

I know someone who works at WTC - a world leading Banking analyst - hopefully she wasn't in the office today - who knows.
With regard to the comments about how affirmative action Bush will respond - he is currently hiding in a bunker in Nebraska - hidden well underground with the US on Defcon 4.
This does not sound like a powerful man - this sounds like a coward - he hasn't been on TV since first thing this morning. And we all know that cowards make the worst bullies - I am very frightened of what he will do now.
The bravest man seems to be the Defence Sec - he refuses to leave the Pentagon even though it was hit. A man to put his money where his mouth is.

Not really the time, but if hijacked jets are raining down on the most military powerful state on the globe, I want the guy with the big button as deep undeground as he can get where he feels nice and safe and there is a slim possibility that some rational thought may be allowed to happen.
I certainly don't want the entire political and military leadership of that country in one big great white target shaped building just to prove who has the biggest knackers.
Something is kicking of in Kabul....

Don't know if this has been posted, but Mark Kay over on I-chat posted this, from Nostradamus
"In the City of God there will be a great thunder
Two brothers torn apart by Chaos
while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb
The third big war will begin when the big city is burning"
Scary

A sad day indeed.
Two sides to my personality coming out,
1) Go kick *** (Who ever is to blame)
2) Be diplomatic, could start a biggun' here
I certainly wouldn't want to be the Bush Chap, this is where the dude is gonna "earn" his money.
My condolencies to anyone who has been affected personally by all of this.

Read it myself last night.
Sounds like words a group called "The Concerned Christians" teach. I"Had Dealings" with the leader of the Uk branch. he would some times talk about stuff like this.
It was so scary to listen to

I still can't believe this, I woke up this morning and thought it didn't happen, but then I put the TV on!!!
I've seen the pictures from all the various angles, but none of them conveys the size of those towers. They were massive, and the amount of people that worked in them!
I was up the top of one of them a few years ago, and when you looked down it was difficult to see people below - they were too far away. I can't try to imagine the panic in the workers who felt they had to try and jump to safety. It's so sad.

Yeah DR,
I play with planes for a living, and a 767 is a big lump of metal.
It was dwarfed by the size of the tower, which is why early reports said it was a 737.
Still find it hard to accept.![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif)

Still can't comprehend what I've seen, keep thinking it's akin to orson well's 'war of the worlds' broadcast, and that we'll find out it was all a story, but we all know that's not true and that the worlds never going to be the same.
Think that the next 72 hours will probably be one of the most worrying times that any of us will experience.
My deepest sympathies go out to those with friends and familes effected by this.
What will bush do? who knows, but think we all know that whatever he does will be a powerfull statement to terriorist the world over.

Truley a sad day
Equally scary are the images of children rejoicing at such actions. How can such in-bred hatred be overcome. A way must be found.
My brother is in Vegas at the moment. USA channels were reporting that the forth plane was crashed by the pilot so it didn’t reach it’s target.

As more info appeared all I could do was sit in amazement at the horror of it.

Ditto to Adam, no cause is so importaint that any innocent lives should be taken, let alone on this scale.
I hope that the people who masterminded this quickly find themselves isolated, dissowned and handed over to the international courts.

Hi there,
For those of you who know me, my wife is from Washington DC hence I have in laws there. I am happy to report that all family in the area are accounted for, but we are still unable to call - thanks to the internet we know people are OK.
Sorry if anyone on here lost anybody as a result of this :-(
Don't get me started on religion :-(
Simon.

Adam M: >>If your whole life revolves around planning your suicide at the expense of tens of thousands of innocent lives then all I can say is **** their cause!<<
Adam, all I'm saying is that what's behind it needs to be understood better. You saying '**** their cause' is so not a solution. This is the vicious circle, and the recent events prove that 'their' cause may indeed '**** you'. No humanity should live like this, in tension and in fear. We need a long term fix not an escalation of security, tension and fear.
It is highly likely that I lost a friend in this event, and await the sad confirmation. I want no one else to lose friends, whatever their religion, colour or ridiculous indoctrinated attitude to East or West.
