scoob's dont handle no matter what you do to them thats the problem with em naff engines the crap flat 4 and dire handling which is less effective than most modern FWD cars. No wonder one of these japenese subaru cars can be had for about 2k nearly new now.

and what happened in 1993 oh no scoob's hit the scene with the most dreadful 2.0 litre turbo charged engine in history a car that boasted 4wd but really was no match for a fwd maestro turbo.LOL
I may go and buy ten nearly new scoob's and blow them up as I have a spare tenner in my wallet or perhaps give them to the homeless if even they wanted one that is. Probably get a lot more money in your begging bowl if people realised your unfortunate position of owning a bug eyed wonder.
The stigma attached in owning a true japenese council estate Subaru.oh dear. Now i know why I see so many parked at the dole office now at signing on time.

Ahahahahahaha! You know something is wrong when a Cossie driver accuses Subarus as council estate vehicle. Does not compute.

co55ie, I think you should post this in the Max Power forum or something. You'll get a friendlier reception there. Hell you can even tell them that in order to get 500 Bhp from a Cossie, all you need is a K&N filter. They'll believe you, honest. You'll be the king there..

LOL 500bhp a dream for scoob owners a reality for me.
Seems that scoob's get the pi55 ripped from all sides is this due to the fact it is an inferior product ?

Oh, and so I take it that Fords are a superior product? Just ask any Mondeo man (Tony Blair's crew) what they think of it. Cossies are like Abba, they were good in their time but now should just remain dead.

LOL she was quite fit in the film. I would definitely.
Still gave her a good caning in the game though similar to my scoob spanking on the roads really.

We are not trying to convince you to buy anything, this scoobynet for people who appreciate subarus. Its a free country you can buy what you want it your money. I chose a scoob because

1. I could buy a new one, not one someone has heathed, robinsoned, bashed and crashed
2. Very quick straight out of the box sub 5 seconds to sixty and advanced AWD.
3. Doesnt need 400+bhp for the road, maybe for a track car but I dont want to destroy it on the track.
4. Japanese turn key reliablity, only needs routine servicing ie. you dont spend every niht and all weekends keeping it on the road .
5. It sounded awesome and looked awesome

You can get 400bhp out of one, did you see the recent 417bhp thread .

So convince me why I would want to replace my 2 year old car with
a ten year old one where I dont know the history, been through 10 winters, the paint work and mechanicals are ten years old, woory about hows it been driven and how its been tuned.

I agree cossies are relativley cheap to buy and tune but I want a new car and with the best will in the world a 200bhp RS Focus isnt going to cut it against my AWD 280PS lightweight racing edition impreza. Sure if a 300bhp 4x4 version hits the streets for under 30K then I will be camping outside my local Ford dealers to get a drive with a cheque book in hand. Until then sorry Japanese technology for me.

I have nothing against Fords infact I have owned 4 including a 2.5 V6 and my father and my sister have a Ford. You will also find that quite a few guys on here have had some pretty quick Ford motors and moved onto Subarus its about personal choice. If you just dont like Subarus full stop, then whatever I say aint gonna to change your mind .

4) they don't look awesome they look pants
it is the scoob that is relatively cheap to buy not the cosworth
lets compare say a clean escos on a 95 plate 14-15k how much is the 95 scoob 4k so would have to conclude that it is the scoob that is the poor mans car here.

You are seriously mislead if you think your scoob has the same presense as an escos.

Just a few minor points.

Subarus are quite new to the UK in comparison to Australia. In terms of bhp, there are loads of Scoobs well over 600bhp!

Just tell me this, in the last 10 years how many times has that Yanky outfit FORD won the WRC as opposed to those little Japanese companies.

And why does it take companies like Rallye Sport and Cosworth to change a poor car into a good one. Subaru make them good from the start.

The only good thing, I suppose, about buying a 10 to 15-year old ford is that you might be exempt from the road fund licence. Cant think of another eason to own one.

Well frankly I don't care. Having driven my P1 to the limits and beyond to the tune of 54K miles in about 16 months I would buy another one tommorow if I could get my hands on one. Just can't beat the grin factor.

Yeah Subaru seem to have lost the plot lately but maybe they will get there act together before they loose to many customers.

(just waiting to test drive an EVO......)

chrisp WROTE (Some SNIPPED):

>>> So what can we learn :

If you have brought the scoob it has cost you £11,500 in depreciation.

If you had brought the cossie it has cost you £11,800 in depreciation.

Now I would say that was pretty close . <<

UK car buying punters pay far too much attention to "RESIDUALS", depreciation and the rest ....... motor trade speak for paying TOO MUCH for UK cars, both NEW and USED. As long as UK punters continue to do this, FAT CHANCE real car prices (as opposed to dealer margins giving a false impression of price reduction) will ever come down to benefit Joe Punter That's you and me folks ..

How to overcome this overpriced UK market? - leave the things unsold in the dealerships ... for L O N G periods. Only then will real prices come down to anywhere near levels usually found outside the UK ....

Will it happen? - no chance - On all known form, UK punters pretty spineless pricewise and determined to pay over the odds for their motoring apparently. Go on punters .... prove me wrong ... be delighted if you do ... we will ALL benefit .... and I mean that most sincerely folks ....

PNM_SCO Wrote:

>> Yeah Subaru seem to have lost the plot lately but maybe they will get there act together before they loose to many customers. <<

I dont agree - the only way they've possibly lost the plot is in their car pricing ... greed levels similar to most other manufacturers. Subaru's cars are still pretty desirable, new or used .... so the "opposition" may have moved the goalposts a little, but only a little so, so what? ... do you REALLY have to have the very latest WOTNOT? That costs ... big time and will it really be sooo much better than your current set of wheels? Come on now ... surely not ... and IF YOU DO, be interested to know your reasons for so doing ....

MGJohn,

I was just pointing out that if you brought the two cars at UK list how much they would have lost. The point the cossie guys were trying to make it that their cars are worth more for the same age which is true, but they cost a lot more when there were new. A 1995 Aston Martin is going to be worth more than a Escort Cosworth but it cost more.

I agree with the UK pricing I brought a new Japanese import for the same price as a UK model except it had all the toys and extras and more performance.

I just could NEVER stand in a pub and proudly announce I had an ESCORT!!! HA HA HA HA HA

BUT, I am VERY pleased to say I have an IMPREZA - everyone wants to be your friend and buy you drinks!!!

The ESCORT man is just that, ANOTHER Ford owner - no presence at all, no style, no class
